This seller friedasophie:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/friedasophie?ref=seller_info
and
http://www.etsy.com/people/FriedasophieVintage
uses 2 sock puppet accounts to feature herself over and over in treasuries:
Pingi44
http://www.etsy.com/people/pingi44/treasury?ref=pr_treasury_more
and
Tigi44
http://www.etsy.com/people/tigi44/treasury?ref=pr_treasury_more
I’ve reported her over and over and no luck.

Wow, the treasuries… that’s screwed up… how are you able to find those “puppet” accounts?
@AngryEtsySeller she used a friend of mine in treasuries that my friend thought were strange (tagged anthropologie) and I noticed a pattern. Then my friend was included in tigi’s treasuries, as well.
I think the pingi account may be her buyer’s account. When feedback left for buyers was visible, I noticed she bought many of the components that I saw in her bead shop. Also, some of the feedback was thanking “Sandra” and Sandra also happens to be the name of friedasophie.
Friedasophie has some crystal point pendants that she’s calling “Herkimer diamonds” but they aren’t Herkimers at all–they’re just quartz crystals. I especially laughed at the “carnelian Herkimer”. Say what??
So Tigi44 just decided one day to join etsy, never intending to buy anything. Tigi44′s only goal by joining was to make treasuries. Because people who have never bought from Etsy or are involved in any way in the community know all about treasuries, and it’s very important to them to make as many treasuries as they possibly can, all featuring completely different shops. Except for one shop. Frieda Sophie’s shop. Tigi44 was so in love with Frieda Sophie’s work that she felt compelled to join etsy and pay tribute to Frieda Sophie in the only way she could……by featuring her in countless treasuries. Why are you all so mean? Can’t you appreciate this for the labor of love that it’s meant to be?
You are right, iona. I feel dirty and ashamed. :p
Excellent call out.
nice website frieda has here, and nice prices!
http://www.rubiniajewelry.com/
While on the subject of album covers…
http://www.etsy.com/shop/minimagnets
wow who ever caught on to all of this is very observant!
I would have never thought about it.
Etsy should only let those who have shops make treasuries, it will be the only way to keep this crap from happening.
And the whole Herkimer diamonds thing caught me off gaurd. What the hell is a herkimer diamond anyway.
LOL… then in her listing it states quartz.. Uh quartz and diamonds… BIG difference!
It is double terminated quartz, which hers is not, hers is just a quartz crystal.

This reminds me of one of my all-time favorite ECO posts about brokenghostcouture and all of her treasury making personas. Scammers are everywhere!

Check out this new shop selling Ebay resale items.Just makes me sick!
http://www.etsy.com/people/hotstuff2011
Their listing: http://www.etsy.com/listing/72436828/vintage-style-antique-bronze-owl-ring?ref=pr_shop
Ebay:

Not sure what’s the right place to mention this, but I was astounded to see these on the front page just now:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/70558210/mens-leather-miu-miu-boots-rustic-beat?ref=fp_treasury_5
… “bought at Miu Miu Sample Sale a few years ago”… good grief. I knew vintage was a bit of a grey area on Etsy, but I didn’t know it was this blatantly allowed to sell stuff that’s not old, only second-hand.
Well, I guess it’s at least a good thing the seller didn’t pretend the boots were from the 1970s…
(Goodness, I just looked at the above seller’s other items, and s/he’s also selling shoes from Opening Ceremony and Marc Jacobs, and a 2005 bicycle. I feel a bit bad about hammering on about one seller who only has a few sales, but c’mon. This on the front page?)
Lillie, not-old-second-hand is not allowed any more than reseller’s “handmade” is allowed. Etsy vintage must be 20 years or older.
Don’t feel bad about hammering on http://www.etsy.com/shop/lexitallisman . He/She is breaking the rules and deserves it.
Fabulous! The not vintage boots are now sold. It pisses me off to no end that not only does this shit make it to Etsy, it also makes it into treasuries and to the FP and it sells. As long as Etsy gets it cut, they don’t really give a shit.
Lots of non-vintage at PatinaPosh disguised with partial photo shots or props. Here’s a few: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/45129687 http://www.etsy.com/listing/68932884/cut-tin-upcycled-patina-wall-hook http://www.etsy.com/listing/69943624/painted-clay-pot-artifact
And handmade? Does tying a ribbon on a mass-produced item qualify?? http://www.etsy.com/listing/70850255/repurposed-wall-pocket
Tagged as “vintage boots” and listed in the handmade section. Nice.
I love this item:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/71047736/industrial-style-portable-lamp-made-by
“Made by Underwriters Laboratories – titled ‘Portable Lamp’”. uh, UL is the product safety org….
plus I am pretty sure that’s not ‘vintage’
I will be surprised to see anything happen to the items in lexitallisman’s shop. More than half of the items listed — or sold — in that shop are listed in various handmade categories. The seller knows they are not vintage, and Etsy allows sellers of used manufactured items that fit the Etsy look to crap all over the handmade section of the site.
Lexitallisman understands the way Etsy vintage works. They listed some vintage things (as vintage) to serve as ‘shield items’. That way they get a pass on listing whatever they please, in whatever categories they please.
There is no way an Etsy admin saw that listing for slightly used boots and didn’t know they were not handmade by the seller — they were listed as Handmade/clothing.
This is off-topic but hopefully someone might have an answer for me.
Last night I emailed Disney with links to several Etsy shops that are selling Disney items. I received a standard form letter back thanking me for reporting them. My question is – have any of you guys reported a shop to them and actually saw the shop get shut down or items removed? I figured it might take a little while for them to really look into it, but I’m wondering if reporting those shops really works. I don’t wanna waste time reporting if nothing’s going to be done.
I reported the bike that lexitallisman was selling and now everything in the shop is gone. I guess reporting does work – once in a while….
EtsyVigilante, PatinaPosh is yet another of the shops mixing commercial products, some real vintage, and some (maybe?) altered (okay for Etsy handmade) stuff. Because the ‘shield items’ — real vintage and hand-altered — are in her shop, she can list commercial products at will with no consequences. The wall pocket with the ribbon says in the description that it was re-painted by the seller, which means it is hand-altered and okay by the TOU. But other items listed for sale such as those made from ‘recycled wood’ are contemporary, not vintage, and they are commercially produced fauxtiques.
Trista, I’m not sure. I have heard that Disney is especially rabid about pursuing copyright infringements, so I would suspect that something *often* gets done when something is reported. However, there’s one shop in particular that I think I remember reporting some time back and I just reported it to Disney again. Still there. It could be that I’m remembering wrong and didn’t actually report it before.
In short, I suspect it isn’t useless in most cases to report to Disney, unlike Etsy, but that some things do slip through the cracks.
Stephanie, lexitallisman may have had their items disappeared while they get some coaching from Etsy. Which Etsy kinda does owe lexitallisman since they put their listing for used shoes as handmade/clothing on the front page. The time for Etsy to have caught lexitallisman was when the treasury they were in was considered for FP featuring. ooops.
Another one popped up. Check out
http://www.etsy.com/people/qingtian964
they use the same pictures as the wholesaler on Ebay: http://myworld.ebay.com/idomcatsss
I once messaged Sweetheartsinner on ebay before I bought something and she never bothered to answer back so I said forget it.
“Made by Underwriters Laboratories”
omg that’s the best laugh I’ve had all week!
Quingtian964′s items have been disappeared, but not before the shop made a handful of sales. This is the type of reseller that Etsy will actually do something about if reported.
Yeah, sickofetsy, UL made that lamp LOL. Vintage on Etsy is kinda tragic these days. But I think the word on that is out. The last few times I pounced for new undiscovered shops, there were far fewer selling vintage. Mostly newish clothing and shoes.
Is ping44 the destash shop of Frieda Sophie? I don’t see disclosure anywhere but I might just be missing it.
If I remember correctly my question to Sweetheartsinner was how was this made-was it just a glued on piece of paper or how was it made.
Please call out this Latifah person who is right clicking and taking people’s pics, has had several etsy shops and some of them closed now, but who still has some open along with a website that says it is an etsy shop but does not lead to etsy if you click anything

New reseller shop opens to scam more innocent Etsy shoppers:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/xianzai305
These scammers work pretty fast dont they. 111 items and counting listed in one day.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/chule038
How hard is it for etsy to find these people for gawd’s sake???
No profile, no avatar/banner,no info over 100 listings in a day –
chule’s inventory is gone but xianzai still ahs a full shop full of faux handmade 30.00 tops???
I can barely stand to look any more, it is so frustrating…
Items are all gone now, but not before the shops swiftly made some sales…
Now for some bad news: Lexitallisman is back! The clearly described designer shoes are gone. However, there is still a pair of shoes in the shop, maker in the description, listed as handmade/clothing. And a pair of prints not made by the seller listed as handmade/art. So few items in the shop, but can’t manage to edit their listings properly. And Etsy’s listing software is so hard to use…not!
Which proves that sellers of manufactured unaltered items are free to list them in the handmade categories if they distract the block-headed Etsy staffers with some legit vintage, real handmade, or even commercial supplies.
And the pair of “vintage” Laredo boots in Lexitallisman’s shop? I’m not sure how old they really are, but you can buy these (or very similar) brand new at sheplers.com for example, for $65. I wouldn’t wear pre-worn shoes if someone paid me. People get all skeeved out over earrings being pre-worn, but shoes? YUUCCKKK.
The used shoe thing grosses me out, too.
I can maybe see buying a pair of wild party shoes that were worn by the original owner once or twice. Shoes that aren’t made for walking in, and are pretty much guaranteed to be bad for your feet to wear anyway. But boots like those are supposed to be sensible shoes, and so should be new to you.
Someone is opening a new shop every night – usually a name with a number behind it… (as mentioned: chule038 and xianzai305)
adding to the list a few others that I caught open and then closeed within 24 hours but give them a few hours and they’ll be back with a new name
shuru887
lovyann233
naodai357
Why can’t Etsy figure out how to block someone from loading 170 items in 24 hours, they can fix things that aren’t broken, cross check IP addresses for sock puppets, but they can’t stop a reseller?
Which makes me wonder…
1. who has enough money to list 100 items every day?
2. why can’t they track or cross check the IP address?
3. who has TIME to list 100 items every day?
4. how many credit cards does one need to open a new account daily?
guess SCRAM isn’t working so well these days…
at least they ARE getting shut down.
but I also have a hella long list of those they have NOT shut down.
and another one to add to that list
fadong202
- I know I am missing some, but they were opening a new shop each day (see the date they opened)
and tonight the seller is going under the name study339
http://www.etsy.com/shop/study339
they are still uploading items, right now they are at 40…
ooh look Pingi aka friedasophie got herself on the fp again.
http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4db0958f083d8eeff8530b89/foxy-lady?ref=fp_treasury_curator
and the name of the shop tonight
http://www.etsy.com/shop/dongxi007
so far they have 200 listings.
friedasophie and pingi44 are indeed the same person.
http://www.etsy.com/transaction/14744588
What are the odds that friedasophie will use pingi44′s avatar for this listing?
You do the math!
I’ve missed a few nights -
but at always we have our nightly return of the downloading fool
the name tonight iom558
http://www.etsy.com/shop/iom558
Again, how is it that this person can open up shop night after night? How many credit cards can a person have –meaning they must have an endless supply to be able to constantly open a new shop under a new name – what happened to SCRAM? and why can’t anyone over at Etsy do anything about this?
A herkimer diamond is crystal quartz with double points or singel points. Look up wikipidia correctly. This seller uses the herkimer diamond term correctly since the stone is a crystal quartz.
This is to the curator of this blog and all the other repliers about the above issue that was raised about my store. I had my store for 3 years now and all i have ever sold was 2 vintage dresses and my gemstone collection. Friedasophie is not my store. It belongs to my sister. And yes, i do adore here jewelry which is why i sometimes feature a piece from her collection which is not against etsy rules. When i do feature an item it is simply my feedback that i am giving her on a new piece that would like to own myself.
And yes, my sister does buy some of my gemstones for her collections sometimes or trades me a piece.
Countless etsy teams have members which are all promoting each other but they are never being questioned if the cross promotions are ethically correct.
In regards to the Tigi44 account, it does not belong to me or anybody i know.
I hope this answers any questions that were raised her and next time it would be nice to send me a message through etsy first before participating in heresay.
pingi44
Care to address these?
http://www.etsy.com/transaction/14744588
What are the odds that friedasophie will use pingi44′s avatar for this listing?
friedasophie’s website:
http://www.rubiniajewelry.com/
has the email address misspingi@yahoo
Sure i can address those:
My sister helped me to set up my pingi44 store and gave me her original avatar. If you check you can see that she has not used her old avatar in ages.
And i already replied in an earlier reply that rubiniajewelry is my sisters retail store and friedasophie is mainly her wholesale store.
You have participated in false hearsay and you should correct your error and remove this callout.
