This shop of ‘hand drawn custom images’ is fraud. The images on here are, in fact, iStock images. She is misleading her customers by offering this ‘one of a kind’ image.

Because nothing disappears on the internet:

Oh boy.
Well, let’s say that perhaps she is at least buying the stock images that she’s using–although I’m pretty sure that the 2 drawings of cameras are off limits–personally, that would really p*ss me off as an illustrator–it’s just not cool.
I really like to see people do well on Etsy, but you can’t be underhanded about it. I think she would do well to at least stick to the stock stuff (legally) and not claim it’s OOAK.
Buy a Wacom tablet–they’re a $100 bucks, and you can make your own illustrations. It’s easy to do and no one gets mad.
Oh, and she really should refrain from throwing stones in glass houses, and that sort of thing.

Ohhhhhh, Mandy. Well, you came and you stole withooooout making, so you need to be sent away, ohhhhhh Mandy.
Ummm… wonder if they have permission to use this image?
http://www.etsy.com/listing/45935894/ttv-duaflex-old-camera-pendant-hangs-on
@Trista
Maybe they have a deal with the artist?
I had a necklace maker turn one of my prints into a charm and would get a commission –so maybe that’s it. Let’s hope.
That seller (with the necklace) was in the forums earlier today complaining about copycat shops. She has an Alice in Wonderland necklace where she credits someone for the picture, but none of her other necklaces give any credits so it made me wonder if the camera was stolen. For her sake I hope it’s not, or it’ll be a self call out on top of being a hypocrite.
that image is a well known photoshop brush that all the artists use!!
Check her tags too. Many of her mass-produced charms are tagged vintage. She has tags of “pewter, brass, gold, silver” all for the same item.
Here is the thing, these SO CALLED PHOTOGRAPHERS or MOMMY PHOTOGRAPERS as we call them are all cheap, they come to etsy to purchase the logos because none of them can afford the desigers off etsy, who by the way also use commerical art and photoshop brushes. They are ones to talk, if they are such experienced photographers then how come they dont know how to use the files they are given, do you know how many times they ask, HOW DO I PUT THESE ON MY PHOTOS, if they are such professional photographers then why would they ask! bottom line, they are a bunch of bored ladies who have nothing better to do with their time so they start these MOMMY PHOTOGRAPHY BUSINESSES. I think they all must think they are shooting for TIME MAGAZINE or something with the Behaviour they are carrying on with. What type of women anyway would act in such a mob mentality mannor , its just immature and if they can spend so much time posting all day long then they must have no business at all! Also there are a bunch of well known off etsy graphic designers who use clip art as well in their designs, stock images and photoshop brushes, and they are charging mega bucks for their premades!
Yeah, looking through the sold items too and anything brass, or silver that’s “old” looking, is labeled as vintage. She’s sold tons of the exact same mass produced pieces – obviously NOT vintage. I guess if you can’t do anything to slightly alter something (such as the rings) to call it handmade, you can just stick it in the vintage category instead.
An update on the camera necklace – my sister convo’d the guy who drew the picture and asked if the girl had permission to use it. He wrote back and said he has some camera illustrations people can buy but they cost a lot more than what she’s charging for the necklace so he’s going to look into it.
He also told my sister that she’s the second person this week to convo him about someone on Etsy using his images as their own. Assuming he’s talking about StyleMeSweet using them, that pretty much confirms from the artist that she didn’t have permission to use his work either.
If anybody missed it yesterday, here is the forum thread where bethtastic (the necklace maker) complained about someone copying her:
http://www.etsy.com/teams/7718/site-help/discuss/7624235
Of course, it quickly went downhill for her.
kaitlyn=mandy. just a wild guess.
poon!
Yup I contacted hm earlier this week about the camera image. And theren was another girl who said style me sweet stole one of her camera drawings as well
I am so tired of you bitches and this “callout” shit. Have you nothing better to do with your time? Whoe made you the etsy police?
Oh and Kaitlyn, if you aren’t here, the fact that you would excuse her behavior and make any attempt to justify her behavior and other shop owners like her, is really unsettling.
Hey Mandy! Oops, I mean, Hey Kaitlyn! People could probably give a rip if you, I mean Mandy, are using istock (or whoever stock) images illegally (the terms of use states in all of them that they CANNOT be used for logos), but the fact that you, I mean Mandy, LIE by saying that they are original, hand drawn is the part that really ticks us all off. Tracing another artist work who is actually a designer, does not equal hand drawn. And not that this needs explaining, but while these photographers have plenty of work, nothing, nothing, nothing will keep them from pointing out the lies and stealing that you are doing over there at style me pretty, I mean AtomicCreative, I mean whatever ever your new illegal business is popping up. Thats the awesome thing about these mommy photographers…they look out for their own! And if you, Mandy, are so correct in your behavior/use of these images, then why, oh why, are you taking them down from your shop and deleting them from your now nonexistent facebook fanpage? Why not respond and make this mob eat their words? For someone who thinks silence is the best way to respond to a fool, you sure do have a lot to say.
Oh and Kaitlyn, if you aren’t her, the fact that you would excuse her behavior and make any attempt to justify her behavior and other shop owners like her, is really unsettling.
whocares, why don’t you click the little X up top if you aren’t interested? No one is putting a gun to your head and making you read this blog.
Taking a wild guess here, but I bet whocares is one of the aforementioned sellers or someone who is otherwise violating the TOU.
Nope I am just a person that sumbled on this silly mean girl bullshit. As I women I am offended! Grow up!
Etsy allows sellers to use the word ‘vintage’ in their shop title, item title, or as a secondary tag (or later) even if their business has nothing whatsoever to do with old things.
See also: rustic, shabby chic, french, paris, antique, industrial, midcentury modern, victorian. All terms massively abused — and incorrectly used — in many Etsy listings.
All perfectly Etsy-legal, though, and encouraged via the monthly ‘merch’ report.
So, Whocares, caring whether or not people abide by a venue’s rules and regulations/copyright law/so forth is ‘mean girl bullshit’? Hm. You must be a real ray of sunshine to be around, and no doubt a totally honest, upright citizen, too.
Oh you guys are just a bunch of meanies!!!! Let the poor lying cheating etsy beotches do their thing. You are all just jealous.
I am a ray of sunshine and an honest seller. If etsy dosent have a problem with what they are doing then neither should you. You should sell on ebay they have lots of stupid rules.
No, you sh!tty sellers who DON’T follow etsy rules should be selling on Ebay, jackass. You sound like a two year old.
You are all a bunch of losers… especially the ones of you who have several posts throughout the blog, where you just drag it on and on. Shows a lot about you!
lol I just come here during my down time to watch the bitch fight. *grabs popcorn*
…continue!
Pretty amazing how you hang out here if you think it’s so stupid. That would make you pretty lame, better move along.
Whocares, I hope all of your future purchases on etsy and mass produced crap that you thought was actually handmade. Then, perhaps you will understand.
and = are.
Oh god! When does the hair pulling begin? I dont buy on etsy I sell vintage! Not only do I sell vintage but I sell a lot of vintage. How much crafty crap made from Joanns fabrics are you selling? My guess is not so much since you all have so much time to hang out here and bitch.
I sell vintage. How much of your vintage is acutally vintage? I can only guess.
Its all vintage! My job is to know vintage I am an appraiser. I buy super cheap and mark it up 200% and its still way below everyone else vintage crap.
so are you saying that you’re like, a vintage GOD or something?
Well you better go take care of all those sales in your awesome shop instead of hanging out here!
Yes I am
Dont your bitches have etsy to watch for a new store to attack?
I would love to see your amazing pile of vintage that is of course not crap.
Don’t you have some old crusty milk bottles to clean?
Don’t you have a new clock to sell C3L35t3?
Some vintage sellers are lucky to sell the same item three times.

Is this possible or is bethtastic reselling?
This blog has done a lot of good by pointed out shops on Etsy that need to be closed down. It is usually a matter of a day or two before the ones that deserve to be shut down are shut down. Keep up the good work.
Looky here kids we all have to start selling some place dont we? Like in the real market place and or auction people misrepresent stuff all the time. It is up to the buy to know the diffrence. I have noticed over the years that most of the people selling shit dont know what the hell they are selling old or repro. Its all about the bullshitting the people stupid enough to buy into it. I gonna guess you are bashing a bunch of young folk that dont know what they are doing or know the rules just starting out. Is it really you job to call them out for not knowing? Cant you mean girls find positive things about etsy to talk about or how about informing them in a nice way?
Off to flag everything in C3L35t3′s shop that isn’t vintage. *Does little happy bitchy dance*
C3L35t3, did you change that blub yet?
Guess who just made featured seller? BraggingBags!
C3, you are breaking the rules. That makes you an ass. Don’t break the rules and we don’t have to call you out.
C3L35T3, you also sell handmade, like this clock you manufactured from vintage, fun, and moonbeam:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/66064652/art-deco-big-ben-moon-beam-light-up
If you handmade this clock, why can’t you replace the ‘blub’? Or are you just one of the sweatshop assembly workers in China?
Yeah, you are a great representative of faux vintage on Etsy: ignorant, arrogant, and obnoxious.
Nothing is misrepresented or claimed to be handmade but you little girls keep on bashing:)
SomeAreLucky – My thoughts exactly. They’re not vintage, and she is just getting away with reselling them by sticking them in the vintage category.
And I notice the camera necklace has been removed. Guess the artist must have went after her for stealing his picture.
Oh vintage god, you are obviously not a god of the English language.
I love this little tidbit….
“Here is a macob little antique motion desk lamp. Normaly when you see one of these lamps it of a train or christmas or sailboats. This one it of a cabin in the woods on fire! For the most part this lamp is in good shape for its age but there is a spot or two in the back of the glass print that is missing as seen in the pictures. Nothing good back there anyway and dosn’t take anything away from this dark subject….”
…it of a train…! LMAO
This is also a good one…
“This clips is in good shape and as seen in the pictures. ”
I could go on and on, but I’m very busy shopping for real vintage on Ebay from sellers who can spell “bulb”.

I hope your (few) customers see what you wrote here, jackass. Maybe if you would attempt to make it look as though you’ve done any research on anything that you’re selling, people would be less likely to point out your fuck-ups.

Seriously, with your said unethical business practices you want to suggest that others be nice to others? I don’t believe you have any moral ground to stand on, let alone try to tell others how to behave when your own behavior and actions are so atrocious.

Shelly Simon, aka Mandy, from Style Me Sweet Design just posted this premade logo in her Esty shop:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/74911727/premade-logo-and-watermark-never-resold
The “hand-drawn” image she is claiming as her original design was actually purchased for $3 (on sale from $6) from here:
http://www.jessicaweible.com/index.php//Clip-Art-Bundles/Two-Peas-in-A/p_1306.html
And you are selling this “logo” for $45!!!!!!!!
All she does is add trendy, cutesty fonts around art that is not hers and then calls it a logo.
A logo is NOT clipart.
It is NOT something anyone with $3 can purchase.
How DARE you call it a OOAK Never Resold Logo if it’s clipart with a name added above and below!! I can recreate it in 2 seconds – heck, my parents who have no computer experience at all could download the clipart and add text above it in just a few minutes.
I feel SO bad for the sucker that purchases this and thinks they have a OOAK logo! Deceptive and dishonest – that is what she is.
Shame, shame Shelly, I mean Mandy!

We’ve all made our point – I think we can let it go now and move on to other more productive things.
Ummmm.. hate to break it to you but that is a commercially licensed image useable for a logo. So I don’t understand how you are “outing them”? How do you know who is copying who? It is possible for two people can create the similar look. Who exactly are you saying is a copycat? Please don’t smear someone unless you have all the facts, please. Seriously – that’s not cool at all.
I wish “findcopycat” could just stick to the initial point – that Style Me Sweet was stating that her logos were hand-drawn and one of a kind – when they were not. And that she claimed she was not also Atomic Creative, when she is. That was the point right? I don’t get why the others are brought into this. Call me crazy but how is it fair to just post something with no proof? How did they ask for it?? Seriously, move on – everyone understands what Style Me Sweet did – we get it – it’s over – find something else to do – geez! Lora from JustAGirl has beautiful images and logos and didn’t deserve you to post her store above. Get the facts before you blast someone’s reputation. Please – it’s really not fair. How who you feel if that was your good name and business? Turn off the computer and find some other innocent people to harass (Mandy is not innocent and has an unethical business – the points regarding her are valid – the rest are just not needed).
Acutally none of those people are ETHICAL,either are the designers off etsy, most of them are using clip art and other peoples photoshop brushes. This thread is done. Move on and get a life people. focus on your family and children life is short.
Who’s not Ethical??? PROOF before you blast someone’s good name. Facts are needed. If not, state who you are
and we’ll do a little research on you and ruin your full time job!!! Funny how you say to focus on family and children – ummm…don’t you understand that if someone is wrongfully accused of something it can ruin there income for their family and children!! Duh… It’s not fair – this post is the most evil thing ever. I actually now feel sorry for StyleMeSweet and wish I had never posted anything here in the first place. God, I wish there was an edit or delete post here. I think this site gives people power to flame people that they simply don’t know anything about (myself included). I’m sick that I too jumped on the bandwagon and flamed Mandy/Shelly. Lesson learned I guess. This entire page is defamation of character and should be removed – I’m done and off to rinse this horrible taste out of my mouth.
I wasn’t going to respond to your “call out” of my store but I just wanted to clarify a couple of things. I purchased vector images from http://www.vectorious.net. With my subscription I have license to use and modify the images that I have purchased. I didn’t list my item as one of a kind, and didn’t say I had had drawn these images. However, the image that I was called out for was VERY close to the original image and I have removed it from sale. However I do the the legal right to sell it without changing a thing….I’m not a fraud, I, in no way took credit for making the original vector. I have also purchased a logo design software that comes with thousands of clipart and hundreds of templates just for the purpose of making logos….that is what this software is intended for – making logos. Again, I purchased these images and have the legal right to use them. I had a logo designed for me by another Etsy seller and the image that was used in my logo was VERY similar to a piece of clipart in the Logosmartz software that I recently purchased. Now, I am in no way implying that this person used clipart but if she did, I don’t care. The image that she made for me was beautiful and exactly what I ordered. The point is, as long as you aren’t taking credit for making the original clipart or vector that you are using in the logo that you designed you are doing nothing wrong. Take the time to look at logo design software and visit vectorious.net to read the licensing terms….all legal. I will continue to incorporate these images in the designs that I make and I have the right to do so. If you look around Etsy you’ll find similar (or exactly the same images). If I don’t care, why should you?

“Findcopycat” check your facts!!!!
Your post above is completely INACCURATE!!!!!
Stop calling out stores out that aren’t doing anything wrong!! Didn’t you learn that with JustAGirlDesigns????!!!
That image is able to be used as a LOGO with the extended license from Vectorious (as Just a Girl stated in the post above you). Are you that stupid? If you don’t believe us then please email the stock site – the owner will in fact confirm to you that is completely legal to use it as a commercially sold logo. I verified that after JustAGirl posted her comments – and she is correct – you can in fact use artwork purchased with the Extended License for logos!!!!! I read Creative Co’s listing and it doesn’t state anywhere that they are claiming it’s handrawn. So why the “call out”???
Give it up – Call out yourself for being a loser on a Sunday researching other designers – you cleary are a designer – trying to discredit others who are selling. Why else would you so relentlessly pursue this? Are you Katie Marshall from KMarshPhotos perhaps??? LOL!:-) Really, you are pathetic.
