Lots of items in the “moss shop” that are not supplies or handmade as tagged: http://www.etsy.com/shop/teresab123 in fact much of it straight from Alibaba:
“Handmade” Moss Rocks: http://www.etsy.com/listing/69786008/mossy-rocks-assorted-colors-and-shapes and http://www.etsy.com/listing/80453726/5-faux-moss-rocks-zen-garden-starter-kit

Moss baskets a stand alone item or a supply? http://www.etsy.com/listing/89452751/set-of-2-moss-basket-for-weddings-bonsai?ref=correlated_featured
Here she calls the same item “handmade” http://www.etsy.com/listing/74437941/square-mossy-basket-great-for-bonsai Alibaba: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/334786120/Moss_Basket_and_planter.html

Found it interesting that some of her items ship from the UK, while others ship from the US. Drop ship perhaps???
This is a regular business that has a bricks and mortar store as well as their own website:
http://teresasplants.com/
Almost every plant nursery business I’ve ever seen sells all kinds of gardening accessories they don’t make.
http://www.etsy.com/listing/86078415/artisan-lotus-flower-necklace-in-925
is this the kind of thing you are talking about. it is a mass produced charm hung on a mass produced chain. i am new to your blog.
mj, that does not look like a reseller piece to me. Because that is not a professional way to attach a pendant or charm to a chain. It looks like the seller assembled the necklace, which makes it fine to list for sale as handmade on Etsy.
Here is the charm on the chain..”handmade”
http://www.etsy.com/listing/94431446/lovely-bird-necklace-in-sterling-silver
what is with all the charm on chain bs….this is etsy legal we don’t have to like it but these people are buying jewelry components and making somethnig!!
THESE ARE RESELLERS…..buying mass produced wholesale items and selling them exactly as they were bought with no alterations made…thyeare buying these from chinese/korean factories and reselling them on etsy as handmade…or theyare the factories themselves selling them on etsy as handmade

Dunno if it was made by the seller or not, but the title says it is sterling silver while the description says it is brass. I would not take a chance that chain is sterling, either. Silver plating is not sterling silver.
I can’t understand why people don’t go out and collect moss and rocks and make their own shit. It defies intelligence.

A bunch of shops on my list not in China are closed. Some USA shops that were reselling, aren’t now. This leaves the big time Chinese resellers free to control the market.
Reseller teresab123 http://www.etsy.com/shop/teresab123 also links to her own website (that sells the exact same items) in her shop announcement AND watermarks her photos with her site address http://www.teresasplants.com, thus violating yet another of Etsy’s terms of services.
rattriffic and I both forgot Shininggift.

They also sell on Ebay, and the Miss Girl brand items are sold from a bunch of Asian web sites.
Here they are on Ali Express (and other distributors on Ali sell Miss Girl stuff, too):

One of those Chinese factory made peacock pendant necklaces just sold for $24 in a Tophatter auction! Listed with stock photo from the manufacturer. The silly girls were bidding like mad for something they could have for a few dollars.
Hahahaha People are such idiots on Tophattr. The other day they were bidding like crazy over bidding on a necklace when they could have bought it much less on the sellers site.
I just grabbed a small snipit of the resellers, there are obviously many more:-) Its almost insulting to my time and effort when they don’t shut them down even with 100% proof!! I really want to love etsy and the idea behind it but if a f’ing joke and everybody but them sees it, they are going to be come the running joke and it just doesn’t make any sense to me by keeping things legit they would still make tons of money…..we will all see it will soon be a different kind of marketplace and we will be like remember when etsy used to only sell handmade:-)
