Are these handmade?

5 Mar

Sara in comments would like to know how these body jewelry from Dhuni can be handmade…

I have no knowledge of this sort of craft (but doesn’t look like something you could make at home) so does any of you out there?

Edited to add Ebay Listing:

It wouldn’t have been so obvious if she didn’t keep the ebay seller’s pants graphic in the photo.

Hmm, the small ones look one of a kind and handmade to me. If I had the stick on tattoo part I certainly have the beads and rhinestones to decorate something that would resemble the larger ones. There are a lot of import websites selling similar items but it doesn’t mean this seller didn’t make hers. Or perhaps she thought she could throw a few mass produced bindis in with her handmade ones and nobody would notice. I don’t know.

Oh wait a minute! Here’s an ebay seller in Mumbai offering back bindis with the same picture as the etsy seller. Looks like she tried to be clever and cover up the package wording with rhinestones and magazine pictures. Grrr. Flag away.

She says it’s hand made on precut template from a third party – I took that to mean the backing is from someone else – but she does the glittery bits… I could be toatlly wrong though..

I didn’t even notice that she said they were on a “third party” backing. Still, the more of I look at these types of things elsewhere, the more her large ones look like the kind you can get from Indian wholesalers- same beads and crystals. The small ones do look unique though.
