Pretty ballsy to steal & then give permission for it..

28 Mar

here’s another one QBTots who advises the people who buy her stolen images that they can use them in a commercial way:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5226886

Terms of use: You may NOT share, sell or claim these digital images as your own. You may print these images and use them in any other personal and commercial way.

It’s disheartening. Some day someone is going to go vigilante on these people and start calling Disney et al.

I’ve reported tons of people to Disney and Taggies, and so on and so forth. It’s a huge job. A lot of times I only make the effort when they have pissed me off in the forums by trying to justify their thievery.

I just contacted Disney with a whole list of sellers who were pirating their images. They responded with a “thank you” and a, “feel free to send us more info if you see it” they do crack down occasionally. The last time they cracked down on etsy sellers there was a forum thread to warn the sellers started but it was promptly closed down for “calling out” even though there was no specific seller or sellers mentioned it was all generalizations and anyone can do a search for Disney or Hello Kitty and find the rip offs if they want to. If it is such an embarrassment that it cannot be mentioned in the forums, you’d think etsy would do something about it on their own. Hopefully the info I sent will prompt another sweep.
The funniest part is that I found the contact info on an ebay help page. At least they have the integrity to warn customers of potential rip offs, and give them the information they need to identify pirated goods. Do the people buying from these etsy sellers realize they are buying stolen goods?

Anyone can send links to pirated Disney images or movies to:

I actually did report this specific seller to Disney two weeks ago, along with several others. I got the same automated response that fedup!! mentions. I certainly hope Disney does decide to take action. I keep waiting for a forum post from one of these sellers saying “Disney says I’m stealing! OMG What should I do???”
