Reseller- Mysweetyroom

Reader Email-

I sent two e-mails along with flags reporting two sellers who are selling mass produced jewelry from Korea/China. I provided links to their Etsy listings along with links to other big box foreign jewelry websites carrying the exact same merchandise, but the shops are still there and their items not removed. This is a genuine concern of mine, as I am a handmade jewelry seller and there is already enough competition amongst handmade sellers themselves. I feel that their presence on Etsy completely devalues
‘handmade’ and wondering why they are still selling despite the multiple flags sent along with proof that their items are not handmade. Thanks in advance for taking the time to address this.

Yah they sure did. And we all know that ANYTHING can be a supply so I guess they get to keep their shop open. Good job Etsy!

As a buyer only it’s frustrating seeing these things on etsy and that they won’t do anything about it.

I’ve seen threads in the forums where these concerns are brought up, there are always several sellers saying “flag it, let admins handle it” or “the buyer should be smart enough to figure what’s handmade or not”

    1. It’s not my job to be the flag police a million $$$ website.
That’s what the admin is paid for. You would think they would care more about their own site and it’s reputation.

    2. Really, I’m not the expert in every kind of handmade do-dad listed on the site. It doesn’t make me dumb not knowing whether an item is handmade or “handmade” in a sweatshop.

Either way etsy should follow their own rules for listings.

Right now nothing I hear about etsy surprises me, everything is so arbitrary as etsy clearly states in their “rules”.

    Etsy has become a joke.

The Etsy Executives don’t have any comprehension about the mission statement of the company, or why on earth they would bother to invest in protecting their own mission statement.

They are a free-for-all yard sale, but have less seller qualifications than eBay. Etsy is becoming scammier than eBay with sleazy sellers, and Etsy makes no effort to qualify anyone.

    Caveat Emptor.

If these types of people continue to haunt Etsy, do you know what it means for Etsy? $$$$$$$$$$$
If there are bucks to be made, things such as “rules,” “principles,” or “integrity” always sit in the back with the kids.
    Who cares?

They spend more time harassing and muting their sellers and buyers than they do on the integrity of the merchandise they represent. Cross reference those possible sock puppets and make sure they aren’t a seller in diguise…..check out that new seller and see if his.her info matches another seller and then mute them both for not disclosing their shops, it doesn’t matter that they aren’t run by the same people, there is no one to appeal to.

After the constant harassment over the VonLady bull shit perhaps they are avoiding having tons of people flag multiple times a day and threaten to call in the forums, and just removing the crap from the stores. We can only hope!

Someone called her out before, and she started a post in the forums about why her shop isn’t doing well

Yay, the shop is gone! But it’s too bad it’s not cause they were flagged, it’s because of blogs like this!
