At least she’s honest, right? Her shop policies say it best.

“I am new to this site, but not for long.”

  2. Nobody Understands My Pain Either August 31, 2009 at 10:45 pm #

Wow. Just…wow. I’m sure she’ll be gone soon.

  3. meh September 1, 2009 at 12:16 am #

she says those dog frames “sure are moving fast”. maybe they are on ebay, but they don’t seem to be going anywhere on etsy.

  4. Amy September 1, 2009 at 1:18 am #

odd mix of pet items and make up brushes! She’ll be gone soon.

Has anyone flagged this shop yet?
Wouldn’t want to overwhelm the flagging team if others have already sent their report. Lord knows they can’t handle much 😉

    Hee-hee… I have flagged them once 🙂

The banner is just too weird 0_0

  7. d September 1, 2009 at 5:20 am #

my guess is they have no idea they are not allowed to do this on etsy

hope it’s off the site soon!

  8. MadeByM**** September 1, 2009 at 5:34 am #

Just flagged a couple of her items! Big balls!

  9. Christine September 1, 2009 at 5:35 am #

I’ve flagged, and I also sent a nice little personal email to the morons. Some people just need a personal email sent to them calling out their stupidity.

    ummm

just found this new shop due to an alchemy request they put up (looking for hello kitty haha)

    anywho, choking hazard, anyone?
    http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29498814
rhinestones glued to a pacifier=not too bright.

didnt etsy make another seller remove items like this, a long time ago?

just thought I’d post it here.. the more people flagging it, the better.. it’s dangerous 😦

  11. Marky September 1, 2009 at 7:13 am #

Ooo, JoyceRocks818 put a video on youtube to tempt you to buy her lovely swimsuits!

  12. Steamedpunk September 1, 2009 at 7:29 am #

Must be a joke – “Let’s put all the Etsy faux-pas in ONE giant listing, then sit back and watch the publicity and hilarity.”
    Anyway, who cares?

  13. Stiflers Mom September 1, 2009 at 7:56 am #

That’s the fugliest banner I’ve ever seen. At least that’s one deterrent.

Flagging never seems to work because Etsy doesn’t car.

  14. Life During Wartime September 1, 2009 at 11:03 am #

The swimsuit video was scary. Great image for Etsy there: resellers R US. If Etsy’s management had a brain among them, they would start holding all new shops for review prior to opening, like YESTERDAY. With the holiday shopping season starting up, the resellers are going to be flooding on. If it takes days for them to figure out if joyce is a good fit for Etsy or not…Etsy is going to need to hire like 10,000 staffers.

  15. Laura September 1, 2009 at 12:01 pm #

    Dude, such a joke!

Hey-I’m not saying she’s a reseller, but I have seen this painting before and it’s driving me crazy! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16166983

  16. Hmmmm.... September 1, 2009 at 12:43 pm #

Totally off topic here, but is GemmaFactrix gone for good?

Her shop is empty and it is not in vacation mode:

Maybe I’m being a bit judgmental on someone new to Etsy. Admittedly, my panties get in a bunch when I see repeat-reqeusters in Alchemy, especially when it’s a shop requesting items very much in-lieu with their trade. So pardon my metaphorical wedgie…

    ohmygoshemboss.etsy.com

She’s a paper embosser. She should make cards, right? But I can’t help but wonder how much “handmade” work is really her own…

Card slips? (still not sure what the hell she’s looking for) http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/request.php?id=120769
    Packaging? http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/request.php?id=120614
Something about using her business card [removed by admin]
Someone to do all her photos for her? (“photoshop wiz”) http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/request.php?id=121191
    Envelopes? Seriously? http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/request.php?id=121150
    Clear stickers http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/request.php?id=120995
And long ago, something about requesting “something to put on my cards, to make them like a gift on their own!”

    And added insult to injury,
Send heap stuff to her family (ideal price: $1) http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/request.php?id=120888

Please understand: I know that Etsy shops aren’t required to stir, apply, and lick the glue of their hand-crafted manila envelopes. But the extent of these requests and lack of creativity by the shop owner has me scratching my head.

I have always said the CPSIA thing wasn’t such a bad thing.

  19. Brenda September 1, 2009 at 5:42 pm #

hmmmm….she’s moving her stuff to her postcards store it looks like…you know, the one she doesnt have to disclose? so she can hide her really, really bad feedback.

this is an interesting blog entry she has:

    http://gemmashop.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/08/dang-.html#comments

I don’t know what her prob is, she’s been featured already….and none of her stuff looks like the featured artists stuff so?

  20. Wolf September 1, 2009 at 8:14 pm #

Seems GemmaFactrix has her own online shop now-

    http://brookemedlin.com/

Maybe that’s why she closed up the Etsy shop.

  21. MadeByM**** September 2, 2009 at 5:53 am #

As of today, the reseller JoyceRocks818 is still there! That’s pathetic! I’ve flagged in this shop several times and yet, she’s still there! Come on Etsy admin!

  22. Bedazzled Condom September 2, 2009 at 9:37 am #

“she’s moving her stuff to her postcards store it looks like”

No those are the things she made and listed from camp, not her usual stuff.

It looks to me like her gemmafactrix items have been delisted by Etsy for a known period due to poor feedback and complaints of non delivery. I hope it helps her learn a lesson about customer service because she seems to have forgotten where her money comes from. Sad. She used to own the place. Now she’s a has-been.

Nobody poached her ideas. She really needs to get over herself.

  23. Weird September 2, 2009 at 10:28 am #

Her store looks like other etsy stores that have been shut down because they haven’t paid their etsy bill. don’t they just shut down shops totally if they have bad feedback and aren’t refunding money?

  24. Max September 3, 2009 at 9:11 am #

It’s so irritating that the “Report this item to Etsy” drop-down doesn’t have a selection for Reseller, Not Handmade.

Isn’t that the primary reason anyone flags things?

  25. imwithya September 3, 2009 at 9:41 am #

joycerocks818 is STILL open?? Nice job Etsy.

And I agree about the Report drop-down Max.

  26. Sarah September 3, 2009 at 10:54 am #

@Max, I think the first option is “Handmade: not made by the seller” or something of that nature. If reselling is the case, I also include that (as well as evidence, if available) in the notes.

However, I think she’s down!! 0 items, no vacation mode or explanation.

  27. imwithya September 3, 2009 at 12:24 pm #

    It’s about freaking time!

  28. Ginna September 4, 2009 at 4:28 am #

Don’t look now but she is back up and running and claiming that some of the stuff is made by her or her husband. She must be very talented to be able to make makeup brushes….

    http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7951549

    WTF Etsy!!

  29. Kirsi September 4, 2009 at 4:54 am #

    http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=30375060 – what IS that..?

  30. Christine September 4, 2009 at 5:16 am #

Notice how everything is now “My hubby made this”?

  31. Amy September 4, 2009 at 9:41 am #

lol Kirsi – at $1,500 you might expect a half decent photo that actually shows what the heck they are selling!

  32. Dagnabbit September 4, 2009 at 4:44 pm #

The brushes are gone, but she now has makeup brushes for sale. HAND FUCKING MADE??? Should be shut down, like last week.

Speech like that shows your true ignorance….. Please let us stay focused here without the gutter talk….

  34. Christine September 6, 2009 at 3:24 am #

Cursing isn’t ignorance. It’s called frustration.
I think it’s pretty ignorant when someone says you’re an ignorant person for swearing.

Get over yourself. We’re adults. We cuss.

  35. Goodday2U September 6, 2009 at 8:19 am #

There really is no need for it here unless your level of schooling prevents you from being capable of utilizing other words in its place.
    IMHO of course.

  36. Lizz September 6, 2009 at 2:28 pm #

Kiss your children with that mouth do ya?

  37. MaRThA1022 September 6, 2009 at 4:28 pm #

If one chooses to talk like a drunken, whorin’ sailor there are places for it.
    Is that place here?
    Me thinks not.

  38. BitchenStitchen2 September 9, 2009 at 6:39 am #

We are losing sight of the common goal if we continue to bash each other over the choice of some colorful words.

Every other word out of my sweet, 88-year old great aunt’s mouth was “Damn it”. She got her point across, wasn’t a floozy, and I happily accepted kisses from that mouth.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming:
How much of a riot is this?? From Joyce’s eyeglass case listing:

“He made them in a maroon-purple and the shinny silver.
He even put cardboard in it. He even puts tissue in his designs too-I don’t know what it does. But it makes him feel good!”

Because it is essential to handmade crafting to have cardboard, tissue paper, and other mass-produced indicators supporting your product!!

  39. Goodday2U September 10, 2009 at 8:19 am #

  41. Ebay sucks! September 11, 2009 at 11:38 am #

    That will be enough.
It is things just like what you said that make you look every bit as ignorant.
    Enuff said I think.
