Gotta love the rubbish photography in OodlesOfCrap’s store! And if that cupcake thing sells, she’ll only have 95 more to go…

Not related, but how “vintage” are these? :

  3. Life During Wartime November 5, 2009 at 11:13 am #

1992 isn’t vintage by the 20 year rule. But I’m not convinced that the typical Etsy staff member can do that math in her head, so it probably looks okay to them.

I mean, the staff still thinks the Spice Girls are vintage.

Studiobystebbylee has a “vintage” 1991 item in her shop that she admits she is posting against the TOU, but she decided to list it anyway.
It’s been flagged more than once and *surprisesurprise* it’s still there.

Bottom line: Etsy has no integrity. What’s the point of having TOUs?

Is anyone taking bets on how long the Anthropologie plates last?

I bet they’ll be bought before they’re removed.

Oh, but they LOOK vintage! That counts, too, on Etsy!

  6. MadeByM**** November 5, 2009 at 12:38 pm #

rosefever is “pre-ordering”………isn’t that what drop shipping is? And that sounds like reseller to me!!!

  7. JK November 5, 2009 at 12:40 pm #

Oh that StudioStebbyLee item is just classic! From the listing:

“Vintage: Yes, this is dated to the early 1990s.
    1991 to be exact.
It is just under the wire of Vintage here, on Etsy.
I considered and then decided to list this sweet little piece anyway.”

Shop with confidence on Etsy, collectors of vintage!

The entire shop is ALL Anthropologie or however the fuck it’s spelled– and you PREORDER? I flagged for the fuck of it. Nobody will do anything.

  9. dagnabbit November 5, 2009 at 2:50 pm #

She took all the A’ropy stuff down and now sells “her own work.”
Check out this wonderful handmade piece:

This really disturbs me because last year I worked really hard to create a listing that would help raise funds for a Museum I was on the Board for. I created an item to go with the physical ticket and was very precise in my description, and it got pulled by Etsy. I didn’t even have any recouse to dispute it. And so many sellers on Etsy just can blatantly list items they didn’t make or don’t fit the TOU. Sheesh.

Don’t hold your breath but the Anthro (rosefever) shop has been cleared out by admin.

  12. Angel November 5, 2009 at 11:03 pm #

Sarah, I think you meant “Vintage Anthro”.

Lovely to see it all gone.

Allow me to take this moment to vent my frustration at seeing the “winter trends” as chosen by Etsy.

Cowls. Cowls. Cowls. More cowls. Spats. Fingerless gloves. Cowls. Cowls. Fuck me, there are at least half a dozen cowls on the first fucking page alone!

Yes, Etsy, we get that your stupid wannabe hipster douchebag staff like cowls. It’s hard not to notice when almost half of the fucking guide is, wait for it, actual stylish pieces as set by trendy people in the know.

Nah. I’m just fucking with you. It’s cowls.

  14. Kirsi November 6, 2009 at 2:20 am #

I don’t get why they have to feature several of the same item (in this case cowls) on the same guide – if I see a cowl on one page and think it’s interesting, I will either be happy with the one featured or will do a search on cowls to see more of them.

It’s great when ECO get’s the job done!

  16. Gern Blanston November 6, 2009 at 11:49 am #

    Those owl watches are everywhere.

  17. Life During Wartime November 6, 2009 at 12:54 pm #

The owl watch is almost impossible to flag. No one can prove the seller didn’t hang it on its chain herself, which makes it Etsy legal.

I’m shocked the Hostess cupcake is still there.

  18. MadeByM**** November 6, 2009 at 1:08 pm #

She’s selling the cupcake as a supply…………yeah, I can picture that as a pendant! LOL!

  19. leenie November 7, 2009 at 7:36 pm #

That damn Yokoo is back on the FP. I’m sick of seeing her face.

  20. Stifler's Mom November 8, 2009 at 3:18 pm #

The cowls must be going over great in Miami, Houston, LA, San Diego, Palm Springs, Australia . . . you know, the whole half of the world that DOESN’T need a wool tube wrapped around its neck this time of the year

  21. craftycate November 8, 2009 at 9:03 pm #

i saw some owl and hello kitty watches on E-bay which i could
buy for around 3 dollars with free shipping . I was wondering
why the same product is being sold on etsy for alot more
and i thought everything is handmade on etsy not resold
from Ebay . I think one site i saw this on was Hoots4u .
I think i may think twice about putting my handmade
merchandise on Etsy since the administration is not following
    its own rules .

  22. pussdaddy November 10, 2009 at 1:41 am #

Well the owl is cute but I have a ladybug just like it that my husband bought me for christmas one year at target.
