She Makes Stuff With It, But Won’t Sell It

Another email from the inbox-
Love the blog – long-time reader, first-time caller-outer šŸ™‚

I found this seller who sells tights, knee highs, fishnets, etc as supplies, or “costume supplies”… aka Leg Avenue stuff. That might have worked previously but with the new rules about not being able to use “supplies” as-is, eg non-handmade chain necklaces, her store should really be shut down. Her name’s LuckyBunnyHoney- My favorite part is how she has a whole paragraph in her shop announcement about how it really is supplies:

“ALSO for all those who don’t think Pantyhose and tights are a commercial supply – they ARE – If you lack the imagination – LOOK IT UP! The first doll my grandma ever made for me was made of pantyhose! There are entire books written on crafts with pantyhose & tights.
Here are some other ideas Things I do with my tights:
~Make Killer Hairnets Bright with my multifence thigh highs 50’s style.
~With sheer hose you can make pantyhose animals and people.
~With the fishnet’s I have covered pillows
~Use the patterns on my paintings
& Most importantly mixed and matched with the other wierd thigh highs I have to get the ultimate unique look. (a Blue Multifence over a green fishnet)
Have fun ladies ~

ON MY PUBLIC PROFILE PIC is a white opaque pair that I hand dyed.”

So why doesn’t she just sell all that stuff instead? Maybe that wouldn’t be as easy as just re-selling Leg Avenue…

You cannot sell items that are not vintage that can be used on their own.

You cannot sell t-shirt or hat blanks on etsy unless they are handmade.

    This seller is a douche.

A douche who seems to be getting away with it.

Is there another seller just like her selling tights? I remember seeing this before (might’ve been on another blog) and I remember flagging it and *big surprise* nothing was done.

    Etsy sucks.

She was called out earlier on the blog. She actually showed up herself and was….interesting.

She added that bit about the supplies as a result of this blog. Now she is in *clear* violation of the rules, no pesky gray area anymore.

I’ll tell you why she doesn’t sell the stuff she makes – because she makes more money selling supplies that don’t take her any time.

A bit off topic- sorry: wondering if you guys think there will be any change in terms of the amount of resellers on etsy once Marie is gone and Rob is back (Jan 15?)

I think resellers will keep setting up shop on Etsy no matter who sits in the big chair. The listing fees are low considering there is no shop fee, and there is no review process before opening a shop.

If Maria was brought onboard to pump up Etsy’s numbers prior to putting the site up for sale, then of course the reseller shops will be will still be there. But I don’t know why Etsy hired Maria or why she’s leaving.

Oh give me a fucking break. Socks and underwear and panty hose are basic everyday wardrobe supplies, yeah, but not generally accepted craft supplies.

You can’t sell basic socks as supplies for sock monkeys. You can’t sell edible underwear as supplies for hand-crafted hiney-cakes. There’s a fucking limit, and you’ve pushed past it.

Why don’t these idiots do a little market research and figure out where people go to buy panty hose? Do they really think Etsy is a huge untapped panty hose market? The only Etsians who will buy them are the poor sellers who can’t sell a damn thing and buy the hose to cover their heads while they hold up the local 7-11.

    Right from Etsy TOU –

A commercial crafting supply is not a commercial item that, although it may be used in crafting, is ready to use as is (for example: mass-produced clothing, dollhouse furniture and clothing).

    That was funny, Max!

Gosh, now that Miss L. Lohan has her own line of leggings, this seller should hit her up with their “supplies”! (giggle)

This seller is a piece of shit.

Etsy make your New Year Resolution to clean up all this crap and send it elsewhere where it belongs (ebay for example).

Anyone else notice that her shop is cleared out?

    Good….maybe our flagging worked!
