Australian “Italian Style”??

28 Jan

From Etsy Finds,

Found it odd that it’s all made in Italy, but their location is Sydney. All the items say they ship from Australia, too.
This is there “who is” statement on their website:
“Wishing to offer the best of “italian style”, the high quality of “made in Italy” at a fair price, our company sells its products in the Australian market through chosen retailers.”

Does look dicey. Nice bags, but bought in Italy and sent from Australia idicates not made by seller…..

Here’s another bag shop that definitely seems to be a reseller. I can’t imagine how they’re making anything on these even if they purchased them wholesale, so I can’t see how they could possibly be handmade!

    brand new Louis Vuitton

  7. itstinks January 30, 2010 at 4:35 pm #

John, you were wrong. It’s not Louis Vuitton. It clearly states in the listing that it is “brand new Louis Vuitton INSPIRED”. (sarcasm)

I believe that means it is an illegal fake knock off. Maybe they should just change their tags to vintage – but I guess it doesn’t really matter anyway.

    Sigh. So sad

Doesn’t matter – you are right.

    So sad. Ok, pathetic.

lol… she states it’s about five years old, yet it’s stilled tagged vintage. Do these people, like, READ?! At all? Is vintage now just a trendy term for used shit?

I just wanna shake people sometimes…

The word ‘vintage’ means nothing on Etsy. It can be used in a shop name, item title, or a tag whether there is any thing actually vintage happening. Etsy is the only site that has a 20 year rule. On vintage/antiques sites you can list anything. Ruby Lane has a one year rule. Etsy doesn’t exist in a vacuum. If Etsy wants to have a rule about the age of vintage different than other sites, they have to be willing to enforce it. Flagging no longer does anything — I mean the sneakers, the mug, the pig WTF? Sellers are used to sites where anything goes, and are moving to Etsy for the cheaper fees. Ebay just raised the rates for Stores listings to 20 cents per item per month starting in March. The junk store tsunami will be hitting Etsy next month.

I just opened a second shop, and I’m keeping my favs there private. Everything I flag from here goes into my favs on my second shop. So far, nothing’s been removed. Including a painting for $90,000 stolen from the Lourve that’s for sale on Etsy.

JonhCocktoasten, she changed the listings. Her shop announcement makes me barf after knowing how sneaky she is.

Fee avoidance at its finest. None of us should buy from these sneaks that take advantage while the rest of us pay Etsy what we rightfully own them. Really, they’re just common thieves. We need to call these people out. Go to any catergory on Etsy and pick “low to high” on the ‘sort by’ drop down menu to see tons of thieves trying to avoid paying any etsy fees by putting the entire cost of the item in s & h.
