Catching Up With Pending Comments…

4 Mar

Check out this piece of work.

On my search for wooden cake stands, I came across this.

For this GLASS stand, the first tag is: woodworking. The tags also include the words “vintage” and “handmade”.

A plate attached to a cup. It’s “handmade” by Etsy’s standards, so it would no longer be vintage unless it was hand-assembled 20 years ago.

Checked out the rest of the shop, mistagging all over the place.

These baby shoes are adorable but they are resold from Hello Yaya by an etsy shop called Enjiashop. Her profile says “Recently just become a full time housewife” but says that Hello Yaya is a “Trading Company, Distributor/Wholesaler”.
another garage sale :

and this is by no means vintage or handmade:

here is wholesale place to get more of those teabag holders:

new & old resellers. flag away, if you feel like doing more futile work.

On the shop “LoveMeAgain”, I am thinking the “woodworking” tag is just a mistake. (or they are really confused!)

Wouldn’t the first tag be handmade (or glassware or ?) and then vintage in one of the other tags?

Other than that, I don’t see anything wrong (not that I took a fine tooth comb over the rest of the listings).

You should report them, Etsy Admin just added a new thread called
    “Community Reseller Cleanup”

Where they are asking people to send info to her as about mistagging as well as resellers…..I guess they got tired of people talking about them not doing anything about the abusers, so they are doing a “Cleanup”

LoveMeAgain’s products should be Housewares, no? Personally, I hate glued together vintage glass and/or china, but it is perfectly legit handmade for Etsy.

I think MimisCreation’s shop may be handmade ceramics made from old commercial molds. Since factories had more than one set of molds for these items, it isn’t surprising you can find other people selling them. Again, okay as handmade on Etsy if she makes them herself. The only problem with these items is that sellers can make them look pretty much identical to the vintage items made originally — but this isn’t an Etsy issue.

I don’t think Mimi made the holders, but she probably painted them (or what ever the technique used to color them is) – they are sold white for porcelain painting. So they would count as handmade. I don’t know about the other items, not my area of expertise, but prices seem a bit low to have been made from scratch (as she claims to have done).

Those baby shoes can be found everywhere – in almost every retail shop! I can’t believe someone would buy them from etsy and think they were handmade 😦
