This shop has been open since 2008 and currently has 57 Neutral and 35 Negative. Most complaints are slow shipping, never received, or damaged goods due to packaging. I find this funny due to the fact of the high shipping this person charges $4 for a single fake flower). http://www.etsy.com/listing/44916405/spiky-flower—lilac
Not only can I then assume that this person is trying to get around Etsy fees by charging so much for shipping when apparently they aren’t using that money to make sure the items arrive in one piece. Buyer Beware!

*****There is a flaw in the wood material, which I thought was due to bad packaging and how rough the postal workers can be; turns out the items have a flaw in the material which creates a weak point and cracks. No response from shop on sending message even though image was sent as proof.
*****Badly packaged, no protective coating on the acrylic glass so items were scratched. I wrote to the store, my message was ignored.
*****This feather arrived with a sharp crease in it due to poor packaging.
*****Some of my feathers were not securely packaged, and were loose in the box when I received it. Not too badly damaged, though.
*****Very pretty flower, but packaged poorly and a little smooshed.
*****I am disappointed, the feathers are damaged and dirty!
*****These got a bit squished in the mail. all were loosely packed in a big box and didn’t arrive in the best condition. seller was helpful resending when initial order never arrived but the packaging was disappointing as everything arrived crumpled. Received goods yesterday. Product was packaged poorly. The box looked like it was packaged poorly because when I received it it was falling apart. Half of the flowers were broken. The Coque Feathers were not even in a bag, they were all over the box. Although I got what I wanted, I can’t give this a positive rating since the condition I received it in was not what I paid for.

    She’s not doing anything that is etsy illegal. She’s just not a good packer. Ah, I’d say to leave that shop alone.

    Doesn’t really matter if it’s Etsy illegal or not. Still can merit a call out.

    I wonder if she just lazily packs those few packages just to keep the rest of her feedback up. Some of those things were really worrisome – like getting something that’s the complete wrong color. I’d be pissed!

    This seller sounds like a careless douchebag- but honestly, as a buyer, what more would you expect from a shop with feedback like that? Folks need to open their eyes, and move on if the feedback warns them to.

    I don’t get this call-out.

    $4 for shipping a delicate item isn’t pricey. 50 cents per additional item isn’t pricey. Look at her location, she’s in UK. Overseas shipping AND packaging for $4? That’s nothing. For international sellers, it isn’t possible to ship something for $1-2 like it is in America. I doubt she is making money off her shipping charges or trying to avoid etsy fees that way. Maybe if her shipping was $10+…

    Secondly, complaints about slow shipping might be because she is selling from the UK. A lot of buyers don’t look at locations, assume they are shopping in the US and leave negative comments. Shipping from the UK would take, what, 3 weeks? That is not the sellers fault.

    Also, when you ship feathers and flowers OVERSEAS I imagine some of them are going to arrive damaged. She has had 4400+ sales. You can fault her for not responding to customer’s complaints all the time or using foolproof packaging (which would add to the shipping cost, if she changed this), but in the scheme of things, this shop doesn’t seem that bad.

    i’ve purchased from this seller before. shipping wasn’t too slow considering where it was coming from but packaging was a disappointment. i ordered peacock feathers and they were folded in half and put in a letter envelope. they arrived creased because of this, disappointing considering i paid $4 to ship feathers in an envelope. oh well.

    Since when does everything written on this blog have to be whether it is Etsy legal or not?! The tags are feedback issues. And even though some may not think so 35 negatives are alot. Esp. when they just repeat over and over again that she is not packing them well and her ignoring it.

    In my opinion, if a seller has over 1000 feedbacks, and the rating is less than 100%, they have too many negs. Also, from kayaker’s testimony, it’s quite clear she’s not packing the items properly. I mean, who would even consider folding something like a feather?

    Mmmm. Seems merited to me. The call out – that is.

    My hubby runs an internet business thru ebay. Thousands of sales. Mostly overseas. We sell delicate items. We’re meticulous about packaging. And yes, we have to deal with postal strikes, volcanic ash clouds, lost items, etc. So, we’re also meticulous about communication. And meticulous about (very rarely) biting the bullet and issuing a refund when something is (claimed to be) lost in the postal system due to no fault of ours.

    He’s only ever gotten one negative, when he was starting out. And he acknowledges he may have deserved it.

    And, it’s really NOT that hard to pack well, and maintain communication.

    If you’re not capable – 100% of the time, maybe you need to revamp your system. This shop had nearly 100 customer SO disappointed that they left neutrals or negs – NOT acceptable. Not to mention, since the items are cheap, there are probably a ton more unsatisfied customers who didn’t want to be ‘mean’ and leave bad feedback, so just charged it to the game, and remained silent.

    A rate of 99% positive when there are that many sales seems pretty good to me. Twenty-six of the 35 negatives were from 5 buyers.

    The seller’s policies state that she only mails once a week and Royal Post’s website considers 28-30 days acceptable delivery time. Perhaps the problem is perceived slow shipping by the buyer.
    Damaged goods happen, in one case 8 items in one shipment. We are unaware if this problem has been resolved as some of it has happened in the last couple of weeks and there has not been time for resolution.

    A rate of 99% positive when there are that many sales seems pretty good to me. Twenty-six of the 35 negatives were from 5 buyers in the last few weeks. This shop doesn’t seem Etsy Callout worthy to me or I wouldn’t have spent the time looking into it more closely.

    The thing is that the more feedback you have, the more of it has to be negative to make a dent in the feedback rating. Everybody is bound to get some negatives when they’ve sold a lot, but not everybody is bound to get a rating below 100%. Of course in this case some of the slow shipping complaints might be due to customers not checking where their items are sent from. But it would be a good idea for her to address the long shipping time in at least her policies. In regards to complaints about the items, there are some buyers who have left both negative and positive feedback, so they are obviously not negging maliciously.

    She shouldn’t sell stuff that she can’t pack safely for a trip overseas. If she is undercutting her international shipping, that’s her fault NOT the customer’s.

    Folding a feather? She sounds like an idiot and I wouldn’t buy from her.

    I wouldn’t buy anything from overseas unless I couldn’t get it here in the States……..why risk the shipping issues that can happen?

    Even if her negatives/neutrals aren’t that bad compared to her sales, once you start getting the same types of complaints, you better start changing your ways………this shop has probably lost many sales, too, because of their feedback. As far as I’m concerned, bad communication and bad packaging will not get my business!

    It often costs me the same amount of money to ship to Europe as it does to ship within the US. I assume this may not be true going the other way, but when the person charges $4 for shipping and it arrives in a letter envelope, there seems to be some discrepancy.

    Well, crap. I don’t know why none of my posts showed up yesterday.

    I’d buy from a seller with that many sales and 99% positive feedback. Sellers can sometimes package poorly, but buyers can also be unreasonable. If majority rules, then the majority of this seller’s customers think she does a great job.

    With rampant resellers all over Etsy, it seems a bit odd to shine a light on a seller who may only be guilty of making a few shipping mistakes.

    I post jewellery out from the UK and I charge $4.00, The actualy cost is like £1.82 as a small packet under 100 grams so if she posts in a small packet like she should be doing with feathers then you can’t moan about her P&P costs.
    Some of my packages have to to the US in under a week but but some take longer so if the buyer is too lazy to see where their buying from then thats there problem.

    I don’t think this should be a call out, maybethe seller is having a rough patch at the minute with things at home so isn’t taking as much time on her shop.

    Numbers don’t amount to much after seeing the totals. I think she should pack better but you cannot please everyone. I just saw feedback somewhere that was negative on three items and the buyer gave the reason that the seller ‘did not accept Paypal” WTH?

    I don’t believe i should have to defend myself, however, here are some things to consider;

    A) did you know that US customs do open packages and are often not packed properly.

    B) some customs depts around the world have been known to throw packages away (Australia)

    C) weather has a major role to play in delivery of international packages – during the bad spell in Jan/Feb 2010 i had a total of 22 packages go missing.
