This seller on Etsy is claiming to be a web designer and they are selling wordpress themes etc, but the themes they are customizing and selling are not theirs! I have reported them a few times, but Etsy hasn’t done anything about it!

They are selling and using themes from Rockettheme.com, which is totally against rocket themes terms of use.
Also, the rest of their designs they show in their portfolio aren’t theirs. Not a single one is! Majority of the themes are ones you can find online for free and were created by well known people in the WordPress community.
In fact the design they use for their portfolio is completely stolen!

The last 2 shops have specific copyright info listed as well. All three shops have a large fan base and yet she seems to think no one will notice published works being copied. So if your plush have just taken off, chances are your design will be the next one popping up in her Etsy shop! Thanks jennifoofoo for being so “creative”.

Ok, I’m not seeing copying here and I feel bad for the called out seller jennifoofoo.
These primitive type dolls have been around for years – AT LEAST since the early 90’s. They used to be all the rage when I was doing the craft show thing. I don’t think any of these sellers are the “original” creators of this type of doll – it was started at least a decade, if not more, before Etsy was ever thought of.
It’s just a basic crude cloth doll or animal and people put their own spin on it. Embroidered words of shite or crap, also not original.
Yeah, I would be more outraged if she were copying something that is actually original in the first place, like jenmaestre’s pencil sculptures or something. I mean, obviously a close replica, etc., but whatever.

Good vintage sellers work just as hard as handmade. I didn’t mean to lump vintage in that snark. (I sell both, BTW.)
I have a trunk full of primitive bunnies, bears and dolls that were made 30-40 years ago when I was Brownie leader. I guess they could be vintage or handmade ( not by me, a sweatshop full of kids in military uniforms). The ones shown are slightly better made and have words embroidered on them that my kids would never have used, on pain of death. It blows me away that people buy the copies, let alone the copies of the copies of a project designed for kids that have never sewn before.
If this is the level of complaint then can we get into mistagging. Search knit hats and see how many of them are knit or hats.
So I have a comment on the Jennifoofoo case…. yes she is technically copying a style but who isn’t out there in etsy land… heres another link just like jennifoofoo and junkerjane only this person is called artofme.
I did a search on etsy for creepy dolls and there are a bunch of people out there who make these so my question is who copied who? Honestly I don’t know who did but I can tell you if you go to the local craft store they have plenty of books showing you how to make these dolls and all other kinds of knitted items.
I’d have to agree with Wendy and Kitten and you other guys – none of these sellers have the originals. I’ve even seen cartoon characters on Nick and Cartoon Network that look similar to some of these creepy dolls.
I don’t think you can say this one is copying that one – there is no way it could be proven. Maybe the called out seller bought a craft book at Michaels or watches Cartoon Network with her kid and thought, “hey that character is weird looking. I’ll bet I could make some weird looking characters and maybe I’ll just embroidery stuff on their bellies and blah blah blah”.
And BTW, I’m not saying that she copied a particular cartoon character or anything.
Also, the person who called out jennifoofoo has an odd tone to the call out.

The first 2 sales made by jennifoofoo was these weird little dolls. Then she sold some other unrelated stuff. Seems to me she was just testing the waters to see what sold better. The focus of my shop has changed over the past 3 years but I’ve never copied anyone.
Yeah, I think calling out on copying could be a slippery slope. It’s pretty tough to come up with new and original ideas anymore. Someone can be inspired by someone else’s stuff and put their own little tweak or spin on it…and unless someone has taken the time to get a copyright on it, there’s not much one can do to stop it (and even then, unless you’re willing to take the legal steps to stop it, you’re screwed). There’s no doubt in my mind, though, that people do watch “trends” and jump on the bandwagon, and I’m thinking this particular shop is probably doing just that.
I think this is the most egregious example of copying someone else’s idea that there is on Etsy.

At first, aressa was making identical hangers but changed the style a bit, as I think lilafrances has a patent pending.
That is about the sleaziest, most blatant copying anyone could attempt. It’s so damn obvious.

As far as the wordpress copier selling things you can find for free elsewhere goes, I’m a knitter and crocheter and I’ve found that more often than not when someone is selling a pattern, (especially for intricate little things like flowers, lacy edging, etc…), it doesn’t take much to find the free site where they got it from on the internet. On at least 5 occasions I was doing a basic search for some of these types of patterns to use as embellishments and came across both the free site and the re-seller. Although more often than not the re-seller was at e-bay not etsy.
So I guess my point is, if you see something you would like that’s not so much an original item as it is a classic item do a internet search first, you may find it for free.
The weird little dolls have been around since the 80s or 90s. Many of the “handmade” things are not 100% original as the ideas came from somewhere. Its the interpretation of the idea is what makes it unique.

Lilafrances did not “invent” this craft. She may be the first to sell them on Etsy and Aressa may very well have seen those and copied them but the idea for these personalized hangers did not originate with lilafrances.
Looks like dingding is gonegone – their shop is empty. I wonder if they were contacted by etsy because of flagging or if they found this call out? Either way they appear to have pulled their listing.

haibo686, tibetvintages, and chinesevintages are still open on Etsy with their newly manufactured ‘vintages’ that you can purchase on Ebay for about 5% of the Etsy price.
I am never satisfied to see a shop emptied. If they are reselling, they need to be shut down. I don’t cheer until the fat lady sings.
Ever search for gucci etc in handmade? Or vintage shoes in handmade? No wonder people can’t find what they are looking for. It’s all about that $.20 listing fee. We are all worth exactly twenty cents to EtsyCorp.
chinesevintages is gone, not just empty. They sold a lot of obviously not handmade shytte like faux antique clocks and watches, so they couldn’t be coached into moving from vintage to handmade or supplies. As of yesterday, tibetvintages and haibo686 were still open with all their items.
I bookmarked chinesevintages in my resellers folder the day they opened, while they were loading their 100 items. It took Etsy 3 weeks to shut them down.
Even though I am SURE that my dolls are original because I design them. I often worry that someone will copy them. I have never sold my patterns but it wouldn’t be hard to do. In the world of dolls there are copies galore. At times I think it might be good publicity because as they say, imitation is the greatest flattery, but I remember what it felt like to see one of my (yes copyrighted) dolls changed slightly and cast in resin… I felt violated. I STILL feel like a piece of me was taken and used to satisfy greed.
And it always come back to that for me. “Greedbay” has loosed upon the world some very scary monsters that constantly try to infiltrate Etsy. I have to admit that those monsters understand the integrity and community of the artists on etsy, pretty much the same as we understand them.
I recently experienced the monster mindset from a “friend” of over 40 years who is an apartment manager in Hollywood. He had evicted a 75 year old woman giving her just 3 days to vacate! He admitted that it was not legal, but that it worked to “get rid” of tenants paying low rents because they had been there many years. Like a vulture waiting for something to die he would jump on them the moment some hardship befell them and hand them his infamous 3 day eviction notice. Honest people never question, so it worked. The old woman had to leave some of her things stored there, and he claimed he tried but could not contact her to pick them up.
Well he had asked me to give him a hand cleaning out the closet the stuff was in, and as we tossed out a lifetimes worth of family photos and personal things, he mentioned to me that she had been his friend!!!
In shock I said, but, you evicted her and gave her only 3 days!
And this man that I grew up with snapped back at me with the words:
“Oh, well, that was BUSINESS.”
And suddenly, I understood. I was there because he was trying to start up a side business and he needed a creative mind. I looked back over the years. I remember walking home from school and him writing down the poem I was making up as we walked, for a homework assignment he had.
To the monsters, we are food.
Like a mouse to a cat, maybe fun to play with, but really just food.
We mice need to remember that.
We also need to remember that in the end… Etsy… well for them it’s just business. The only reason they play so nice is because they don’t want to scare away the food.

Aside from the blatant resell, I notice that to return anything for a refund they require that the item be in their hands within 3 days, yet the fastest you can expect to recieve an order is 5 days!
I put them in for Blatant reselling but I doubt it will do anything. This shop opened on 9/7/10… Perhaps Etsy needs to put the rules into ALL languages so that these types can’t claim that they don’t understand. I’m seriously considering only selling on the new Australian site that allows ONLY handmade. Etsy was a nice idea, but it looks like it’s going to follow ebay into the pit. So sad.

Just discovered I have a copycat as well… Search pinwheel mobiles on Etsy. The copier’s listing descriptions are basically just mine, reworded with a couple of backhanded comments about my work tossed in the mix. One of her mobiles is even named the same as one that I have had in my shop for about 2 years.
I did a little digging (not hard to do on the internet) and found that she and another seller had a similar issue on eBay. Her shop on there is now closed as she has probably had to find another venue to take advantage of people.
Found her blog, and she claims the other woman took her ideas and goes on and on about how appalling it is when people replicate other artists… Then states that she will be selling things on Etsy that are “inspired” by other people (ahem, me) and that it is totally ethical to do that. Talk about crazy!
Please add “buymycrap.etsy.com” to this list. Not only is she an absolute sore, but she has copied my ttv bangles, my process, everything. She should have been kicked off of Etsy ages ago for her attitude in the forums, and the fact that now, she’s even copied my molds. Etsy (HUGE surprise) hasn’t dine a thing. In addition, she uses copyrighted Harry Potter stuff. It’s sad. The only thing that keeps the husband and wife team going is their denial, crude behavior, and bullying.

I love photographing with my Duaflex II camera. So much so that almost all of my photo necklaces have the tell-tale black border that defines viewfinder photography. I know that I raised to the price of these, but it takes SO much time from start to finish to get these compete and looking great. It’s essentially like wearing a piece of art.
You are buying an original transparency bangle with my own pictures. Not only that, but your bangle is chunkier, more solid, and and made to last for a long time. Polyester resin, which is what I use, is very expensive, but I use it because it lasts much longer than other brands or types of resin, and it also doesn’t scratch nearly as easily. I also caste my pieces with a very expensive silicone mold. This allows this bangle to fit almost all hand and wrist sizes.
Measures just over 2.6″ in diameter (on the inside), yet it bows in the middle, making it fit a bit more snugly for smaller hands and arms.
Sure, there are other people making bangles similar to mine, but I prie myself on using the very best materials, and spending (literally) hours on just one piece. This is why it takes me longer. I don’t have a husband, or a boyfriend who can really help with the process, because it is so unique, and each bangle is a bit different from any other bangle.
What I’m trying to say here, is that your bracelet is maded in my shop. I don’t outsource my ideas to China, and have them make my product. It’s made in Chicago, all of the supplies are purchased in the USA, so I think that’s kind of neat.

This is a ridiculous post riddled with errors. By the way “Handmade” is define by altering a charm. Let me finally say, EVERYTHING I have listed as “Vintage” has been inspected by my local Antique dealer. As for the three stone rings, it was reported because one of these women who sent this ridiculous email to me, found a very ugly, similar ring on ebay. My ring came from AZ. It was reviewed by Etsy, and they apologized after I put both images next to one another–a cheap reproduction, and my late grandmother’s ring.
As I said, I will file a libel lawsuit if you do not remove this post. My reputation on Etsy is both solid and I would NEVER sell anything that didn’t belong there. The person who wrote this email is obviously a bit unstable, and quite frankly, a copycat herseld. Look up “ttv bangles.” I began this trend, and someone copied me. I am a busy Art teacher who loves her job, her students, and her shop, which I have owned for over 5 years now.
Look at my vintage items. They are all vintage. Look at my handmade photo necklaces. All my photos (unless borrowed legally from close flickr friends.” Whoever wrote this should be reprimanded. I am personally offended, and I will NOT be subjected to libelous crap from a crazy person. This should never have been posted. My repuation is important to me. Not to mention, I DO drill my own holes, and I send them out as wholesale orders. I have been selling and my handmade items to boutiques for years. Just because there might be some jealousy, does not mean it’s okay to allow someone to spout off absolute lies about myself, or my shop. It’s really just creepy and weird. And hey, if you would like to see the email of apology from Etsy, I would be happy to show it. But this article is filled with libel, and makes me very angry.

I would like to ask Ms Blafka what her obsession is with BuyMyCrap. Every 5 minutes she seems to be on twitter, etsy or any other place she can think of talking about them, threatening them, ranting about them, asking others to harass them/harm them, libeling them. I have been following this off and on through various social media sites and have yet to see BuyMyCrap respond to anything since the 3 original call out posts, made by Ms Blafka on etsy some four months ago.

Are you that delusional/paranoid that every time someone says something to you, or someone doesn’t like something they buy from you, or utters a word about you, they must be BuyMyCrap? You really have a serious mental health problems if you believe this; it’s delusional and unhealthy. You have plenty of people who dislike you from the way you behave, they way you talk about people/to people. You have called out some of your other customers before online.
You ask to be left alone. You ask for privacy. Have you done that? Have you left BuyMyCrap alone? Fellow members of this thread, am I wrong in thinking it is highly inappropriate for a teacher to act this way online? There has to be some sort of standard one is held to when teaching youth of today. It is not against the law to contact Ms Blafka’s school or school superintendent. If you have proof, screenshots, website URL’s of her unstable behavior, I would think it is a wise course of action.

Beth Blafka, why is it alright in your world to lie about BuyMyCrap and slander them all the time and when anyone says anything to you, you start to cry foul or claim everyone is BuyMyCrap (I wish I were, I like their crap) You started it, now others you have wronged are chiming in.

I decided to have a look for myself. I can see just in the paragraph below that I’ve copied and pasted, quite a few inconsistencies. Handmade is not an excuse for shoddy workmanship. What is “vintage quality”? Is this thing handmade or isn’t it? If the piece is so thick that skin color won’t change the photo colors, then why would the “little white bubbles” blend in? And if Windex can erase these flaws, then why are they even there?
The whole thing strikes me as foolish, sophomoric, and well, ditzy. This person appears to be their own worst enemy, and not worth the time or the effort to engage in conversation.

Beth, I am someone who has never been in contact with you, but I have read enough of your rantings to be alarmed for your students. I called your boss. And I don’t regret it.
Your blog was public and full of extremely alarming comments. I grew concerned for your students when you pulled one of them into your twitter goal of destroying buymycrap- in all of that madness you recruited a child to defend you and take part in a disagreement between adults. That isn’t ok.
When I discovered your blog, I read it and have to be honest, it was incredibly compelling. I quickly grew alarmed at your insomniac rantings and admissions that you were supposed to be taking medication for your mental illnesses but were not. You spoke about your fellow teachers, calling all of them bitches who were out to get you, you stated if they were going to make you evil you were going to BE evil. AND you spoke about your previous BOSS, attacking that person in a way that was truly alarming to me. If any teacher had posted some of the things you had, I would call their superintendent as well. And I would expect that they are disciplined, as I believe you were.

I never would have READ your blog if you had not been attacking buymycrap for literally using the same materials as you. When your students all sit down with paint and canvas do you attack them too? When they all draw a portrait, do you tell them their copying? The fact that you SHOULD be smarter (as a “TEACHER”) is what caused me to even take noticed of what’s clearly your delusional state. I don’t say that to attack you. I read your blog, I know you have been diagnosed with a mental disorder and I implore you to consider that this issue is something that is really all in your head.
As someone that has been around bi-polar disorder and manic behavior, your blog was clearly one part manic and five parts BP. I stand behind my choice to expose your writing to your school and am going to tell you here and now that if you do not move on with your life, If you do not stop damaging another persons business with untrue libel, you need to expect that others are going to step in and turn a light on your illness and that you are inviting prosecution and are indeed breaking the law, because these digs are actually libel. I wanted to let you know that I had one of your TTV bangles in my shopping cart, it been on my favorites list for a very long time. I am a former photographer and am always appreciative of anything the has to do with photography, that being said, I cannot in good conscience buy from someone who would so distastefully post a thread such as this one:

Should I have replied to her thread? Probably not, especially considering the emotional state that I was in. Beth stating that she never replied in the threads that I was in was a simple fact that they were all closed down before she had a chance to reply.
The fact that Beth has now come onto a PUBLIC site and libeled me and my shop claiming that I am sending people to her shop to buy things, smearing her name all over the internet, calling her school and all of the other various things she has claimed that I have done/am doing is basically doing to me what she claims is being done to her. I am a mother of 4 children, ages 21 down to 2 years, I run my shop and take care of my family, why would I EVER give Beth anymore of my precious time by tracking her down and contacting her school? That’s ludicrous, why would I do that? What would be the benefit for me? According to her theory I became SO enraged with her discussions about BuyMyCrap copying her (who I didn’t know before the original thread was posted) that I then went on a crusade (that she claims has gone on for over a year) to destroy her reputation, shut down her shop and get her fired from her job! Really? Does that sound like something that a rational person (of which I believe I am) would do to a totally random person that I personally have no beef with? IF I were going to put that much effort and time into anything it would be to clean up my house, not to avenge the good name of a person (BuyMyCrap) who, at the time, was a complete stranger to me.
I have provided all communication that I have had with Beth through convos as well as the Etsy forums, I would love to see ONE shred of evidence of her claims that I am doing all these heinous things to her and her shop. I am pretty sure that Beth will be unable to provide such evidence. That being said, my sister in law is an attorney, I may have her take a look at what Beth has said about my shop, which is obviously me and my personal name, and have her help me decide whether a libel suit against Beth is warranted in this case.
Since Beth is DEMANDING that her name be removed from this thread, I will do the same. Beth I DEMAND that you remove my name from this thread or I will have my attorney contact your attorney. I am pretty sure I can find your attorney listed under the name: “Kuttin & Pastin, Attorney’s at Law”

Beth, I am someone who has never been in contact with you, but I have read enough of your rantings to be alarmed for your students. I called your boss. And I don’t regret it.
Your blog was public and full of extremely alarming comments. I grew concerned for your students when you pulled one of them into your twitter goal of destroying buymycrap- in all of that madness you recruited a child to defend you and take part in a disagreement between adults. That isn’t ok.
When I discovered your blog, I read it and have to be honest, it was incredibly compelling. I quickly grew alarmed at your insomniac rantings and admissions that you were supposed to be taking medication for your mental illnesses but were not. You spoke about your fellow teachers, calling all of them bitches who were out to get you, you stated if they were going to make you evil you were going to BE evil. AND you spoke about your previous BOSS, attacking that person in a way that was truly alarming to me. If any teacher had posted some of the things you had, I would call their superintendent as well. And I would expect that they are disciplined, as I believe you were.
Your writing was not cohesive or logical, but manic. In fact, you STILL seem unable to have a rational conversation here, connecting sentences in a way that reads personality disorder.
I never would have READ your blog if you had not been attacking buymycrap for literally using the same materials as you. Your posts in Etsy forums and all over twitter had to be a nightmare for this store- most people watching could not believe that you were getting that worked up over a ttv bracelet. “Your” ttv style is an iphone ap for Gods sake. It does not actually belong to you and you need to get over it. Photos in resin is NOT an original idea. Birds on a wire is NOT a unique photo, and juuuuuust in case; no you really did not write the bible either.
Accusing someone of stealing such a common idea, ranting and raving for months and months, going on and on attacking this shop over one similar idea and process…. IS insane. You’re an art teacher. When your students all sit down with paint and canvas do you attack them too? When they all draw a portrait, do you tell them their copying? The fact that you SHOULD be smarter (as a “TEACHER”) is what caused me to even take noticed of what’s clearly your delusional state. I don’t say that to attack you. I read your blog, I know you have been diagnosed with a mental disorder and I implore you to consider that this issue is something that is really all in your head.
As someone that has been around bi-polar disorder and manic behavior, your blog was clearly one part manic and five parts BP. I stand behind my choice to expose your writing to your school and am going to tell you here and now that if you do not move on with your life, If you do not stop damaging another persons business with untrue libel, you need to expect that others are going to step in and turn a light on your illness and that you are inviting prosecution and are indeed breaking the law, because these digs are actually libel. You may not know anything about sharing artisic process or libel, but I’m sure at some point very soon, buymycrap is going to hire a lawyer to school you on it.
You’ve been on an actual witch hunt and are trying to destroy another persons business- which is their JOB. How is this any different than someone calling your school in Chicago? Ms Blafka, any smart person can see the hypocrisy clearly.
As has been pointed out here- Buymycrap has not contacted you and has asked repeatedly that you stop talking about her. This is a persons actual work and lively hood that you’re playing mean girl with.
If the MD is your friend (although I believe it is actually you Beth), then I hope they tell you to get back on your meds, realize your actually having a manic episode regarding what you think this shop has done (which again, all witnesses present dispute and you are totally unable to post proof of), and stop acting like a victim. Back off. Do the right thing and let this issue go.

What a study in contradictions this Blafka is! If you google her name, somehow the first hit is her Etsy shop! Impressive for someone who claims to be ignorant about her IP address. If you go on to read her profile where she interviews herself, she claims that she likes to share her personal information.
The fact that she says she teaches “art” puts to rest worries about the literacy of the young people she is charged with educating. While it would be best to have educated and stable individuals teaching in any school, I would have to assume that there are economic issues that weigh heavily on the choice the school board has to make. I can say with conviction that if my own children were placed in one of her classes, and I was aware of her attitude, and her penchant for attacking people online, I would personally make it my business to petition the school board to take action to protect the children.
Having taken the time to examine her things and also the offerings at BuyMyCrap, I have to say that were I going to buy resin accessories, I would have to choose the latter for the workmanship, and obviously better quality.

Beth, when you were doing all of the calling out in the Etsy forums a few months ago, I was curious to see if you had any other online stores, and stumbled upon your blog. Where you were VERY open about your mental illness, working your etsy store, and your teaching position at the school. None of this is a big surprise to anyone. Once you post something online, it is there FOREVER. Maybe if you were a little less open to the web about your extremely personal issues in the first place, you wouldn’t be experiencing the problems you are right now.

When you start a war you should expect an army, especially when you’ve created so many enemies. Nothing will bring all those enemies together like stirring the pot.
No worries Morgan, I didn’t know if you knew what was going on. Until just a moment ago I hadn’t seen the crazy forum thread. I’m still confused as to who Miss beth thought the OP was! Clearly she typed it, I recognize her broken English.
Another thing that I’ve noticed throughout all of it, is this one person “pissing contest” {for want of a better phrase}, as in: I have more sales/feedback/friends/etc therefore I am better and that means that I am always right and you are all guilty of whatever I say you are! This attitude goes hand in hand with ” Self improvement is having enough money to buy whatever I want.” It’s both sad and frightening at the same time.
The really good thing that came of all of this is that, although I was extremely put off the forums by this kind of horror story… I have found here an exceptional group of women with integrity, and strength, and wisdom. I believe that the reason I procrastinate in filling my shop and going gung ho to market myself is my fear of being attacked as our friend was. I think I may be getting over that… I have a whole big drawer full of things that just need photographing and listing. I think I can do that now. Thank you all.

I have to say that I also noticed Ms. Blafka’s quick comment to dismiss the issue of being a reseller, was that she’d relisted returned items for sale. Sooo….you resold the same item THAT many times? Did you report those returns to Etsy as failed sales, therefore accurately representing to total overall sales? What a fabulous convenience that she’s here the night of the 28th – screaming victim for a fight that she brought on – and with impeccable timing:
*A student (who has thankfully never been back) is recruited to defend her with profanities and language that higher of self ignorance than anything else.
*Some MD (who is likely a character of Beth herself) chimes in playing dumb but only turns out to look so.
*Beth gets 3 sales in the middle of the night, as though the attention she’s creating for herself is doing her favors.
It’s all suspect, it’s all transparent, & it’s all quite sad. Let’s just hope that the silence of the beast is a sign of retreat and SOME sort of self reasoning. Should the beast rear it’s ugly head again, though – wherever the venue – let it be clear that if you’re gonna knuckle up, you’d better be ready for the fight.

Resin is sold everywhere. “Her” processes are also called the manufacturers instructions and the originality of her style is as original as a paint-by-numbers kitty cat poster. I found this same ttv bracelet (from another victim of Beth’s I am sure) on a suppliers site. Also a great place to “steal” beth’s super duper top secret formula. You and your closest friends can buy it for less than $20. This woman is tripping. She thinks she invented sliced bread and she.will.NOT.shut.up to save her own reputation.
I also agree that she has a shell account and is buying from herself. How else can she explain THAT many returns of one-of-a-kind antiques? She has no ads, no sales blogs, and no viral marketing. With less than 200 twitter followers. Her numbers do not add up and it’s all highly suspect. I guess we can thank her for calling SO much attention to herself. We discovered a total con woman.
I’ve just decided that if this woman posts one more solitary word about any shop that is not her own, I’m starting our own call out thread and I’m not holding back. So far, we’ve been very nice. A lot of our restraint comes from the fact that we all KNOW she was diagnosed with issues, but bipolar and manic disorders are not free passes to terrify people.

She removed SOME of her damning comments from her shop, so the Tweets lightened up. Beth herself has more control than she thinks, trust me.
Nobody is in control of what happens to Beth Blafka, but the one and only Beth Blafka. Period. If you’re such the fantastic friend that you feel you are to her, invest time in seeing the whole picture & getting her to take responsibility for her actions. We’ve all noticed the changes in your shop- and are pleased that you finally seem to be editing out the text where you verbally step all over others in order to prop yourself up. You’re doing good so far, but please, do keep editing, you’ve missed a few things.
If you keep cleaning up your act, we may not have to post that call out thread after all. But I’d advise you to do a better job of shielding your students from the messes you make. J. Billingsly would not approve.

I really don’t believe it is acceptable in any school system in the USA for a teacher to engage a student in this kind of activity. It does not matter that anyone is not in that school system, as Americans, everyone has a right to voice concern, even if you are clear across the other side of the USA. IF someone can produce screen shot evidence/proof of a teacher not acting professionally and not keeping within the confines of their job, they can be reported and information can be sent to the superintendent of schools.

I think BMC is horrid, so that’s not why I’m telling you this.
Remove all that nasty unprofessional information from your bangle listings. It really shines an unflattering light on you and takes away from the bracelets which should be the focal point of the description.
Customers DO NOT CARE about what disagreements you are having with other sellers. Believe me, you are losing business with all that text in your listings whether you know it or not.
If you are frightened by these bullies, then your listings are kind of like poking a stick at a hornet’s nest and not expecting to get stung. They’ve shown here they’re extremely unstable and are dead set on destroying you, why keep egging them on?

Saying that my tweets might lead readers to you is a stretch. On the contrary though, you’ve @mentioned Truthtastic plenty of times, and continue to do so. 2: I have not posted a single, solitary bit of information that was not public knowledge. Cold hard, undeniable fact. Nothing I’ve obtained or posted was secret, private, or obtained by illegal means or manipulation. Many of the posts are YOUR QUOTES, word for word. A little annoying? Possibly. Illegal? Um, no. The confusion that kitten seems to be having with reading that simple sentence (or twisting it to her own use) is quite simply a comma or in this case the lack of one. BMC appears to be conducting business in a professional, cordial, and impersonal manner. I admire them for that very much. In fact I would emulate them without the fear that they may shout foul and accuse me of “stealing” from them. I still see nothing in BMC’s profile that can be even loosely taken as threatening, or even sarcastic, but then I’m not reading between the lines. I am looking ONLY at what I have seen right here and the profile messages of both shops. In the end only one of the two seems to be on a never ending whinge.

Please add “buymycrap.etsy.com” to this list. Not only is she an absolute sore, but she has copied my ttv bangles, my process, everything. She should have been kicked off of Etsy ages ago for her attitude in the forums, and the fact that now, she’s even copied my molds. Etsy (HUGE surprise) hasn’t dine a thing. In addition, she uses copyrighted Harry Potter stuff. It’s sad. The only thing that keeps the husband and wife team going is their denial, crude behavior, and bullying.

I love photographing with my Duaflex II camera. So much so that almost all of my photo necklaces have the tell-tale black border that defines viewfinder photography. I know that I raised to the price of these, but it takes SO much time from start to finish to get these compete and looking great. It’s essentially like wearing a piece of art.
You are buying an original transparency bangle with my own pictures. Not only that, but your bangle is chunkier, more solid, and and made to last for a long time. Polyester resin, which is what I use, is very expensive, but I use it because it lasts much longer than other brands or types of resin, and it also doesn’t scratch nearly as easily. I also caste my pieces with a very expensive silicone mold. This allows this bangle to fit almost all hand and wrist sizes.
Measures just over 2.6″ in diameter (on the inside), yet it bows in the middle, making it fit a bit more snugly for smaller hands and arms.
Sure, there are other people making bangles similar to mine, but I prie myself on using the very best materials, and spending (literally) hours on just one piece. This is why it takes me longer. I don’t have a husband, or a boyfriend who can really help with the process, because it is so unique, and each bangle is a bit different from any other bangle.
What I’m trying to say here, is that your bracelet is maded in my shop. I don’t outsource my ideas to China, and have them make my product. It’s made in Chicago, all of the supplies are purchased in the USA, so I think that’s kind of neat.

My main concern is, and has been for the well being of impressionable children under the supervision of someone who displays symptoms far worse than common depression, which unlike “”Cancer” won’t kill you, unless it goes untreated.
This “teacher” has repeatedly displayed paranoia, and self abuse tendencies. Unless a doctor has been alerted to this, and prescribed the proper medications, then the school board really has no idea. In her own words I read that Miss beth complained about the doctor just giving her pills and telling her to see a therapist (which she spelled “therapissed). That alone speaks volumes about her mental state.
Oh, and the thing that first got my attention here was Miss beth claiming that Elaine is a SORE. I opened that email and was so offended by that statement that I felt the need to look further into this thread. My first impression was that she thought that this was a place to spew hatred about your competitors, rather than a place to gather to report the misuse of our common online market. I did not previously know any of these people. I have Miss beth to thank though. As I have said before, I feel I have found an exceptional group here ( McGee you are so good that I made you an honorary woman in that statement I refer to. See how much I knew at the time.)
Time and this thread has unfolded to reveal the personality behind someone that would refer to another as a “sore” and it is obvious that this ugly description does indeed fit the one that made the statement. Although at this point I would venture to add the word festering as well.

It’s also clear that attempting to get a grown woman to see logic in her actions, is about as effective as getting the drama chasers to absorb the whole story. Fact: Gay children commit suicide all of the time because of REAL humiliation at the hands of cruel people. We are not cruel, we are pissed. There is a difference. Beth slanders other shops, then spouts off at the mouth about her own life, then cries “don’t repeat me, I’m a victim” when we force her to stare down her own words. OBVIOUSLY this is not the same.

Encouraging a grown woman to be respectful to others and to admit her lies and deceit and to own the things she has done using her own words she openly and freely posted online herself is one thing, but, I will not continue to be part of a thread where someone, and that someone being “kitten is right” openly encourages Beth to hurt herself for attention. beth, i say this out of compassion: please seek help, and do as the therapists say. their job is to help you.
i also suggest not harassing people on the internet. you are only bringing problems upon yourself. and, lying about your behavior only makes things worse. people have held back up to this point on providing the information that you have already made public. the more you harass others and make outlandish claims, the more likely they will be to provide proof that you are lying.
i also beseech you to not bring students into your online attempts to blast others anymore. they have done nothing to deserve it. they are impressionable children, and to attempt to use them in this way is reprehensible. it is a pattern of behavior for you, and that is very disturbing. i suggest asking your therapist for help in stopping it. because they are required to keep things confidential unless there are drastic circumstances, they would be a good source for seeking help with this while not disclosing things to your school and the affected students’ parents unless they absolutely had to. stopping this abusive behavior would most likely help you in your quest to keep your job. it would certainly help in your quest to be a great teacher to the children you influence.

I’m Calling out Bethtastic.etsy.com for clearly being a dishonest seller. I’ve sent this to this site, and outlined all the (un)professional issues below. I am asking for this to be posted as it’s own topic, in order to disclose in a cohesive manner, many professional issues that customers and other sellers have had with this shop.
Bethtastic is an unreliable seller who uses many personal excuses to cover her unreliability. Her duplicate and triplicated sales of “vintage, family heirloom and one-of-a-kind” items is obviously suspect. She is unethical, calling items original when some are copies, or knock-offs. She is a bully, referencing other shops in her own announcements, accusing people of stealing her methods, all seen in the novella’s she writes for her listings. She puts other sellers down to prop her own items up. As a teacher, her “classroom” sales methods are manipulative. Students are in her class to learn, not to be her captive customer base and bff. To be honest, the only convincing thing this woman sells is her daily spoon full of pity-me. A trait children are easily manipulated with.
1) Un-reliability:
bethtastic.etsy.com’s bad feedback speaks for itself, the endless list of complaints about item no-shows and no communication is sad, but you only need to read her own words to see that this shop isn’t fulfilling it’s promises: According to her shop announcement from Oct. 2, 2011:
“I neeed(sic) to rectify some shipping issues. I have been extremely busy and I haven’t had time to address these as I work full time and the stress has consumed me.”
“I cannot answer every day as I do not have the time.”
“Also keep in mind the TOU, and if you want your product, don’t leave scathing feedback.”
So let’s sum up: Customers did not get items they paid for, Customers cannot get consistent communication regarding their issues and Beth, due to her full time job and stress, can’t find time to fix or respond to the complaints. On top of this, she tells paying customers that if they leave negative feedback, they will not get their item. That’s called blackmail. And irony.
I also find it odd that months ago, a customer didn’t receive her TTV bangle and complained, yet a NEW customer got the same bangle, and was able to leave wonderful feedback. Beth has recently accused the post office of losing 30 packages & claims to be having issues with DC shipping, yet in her policies, she states she does not use DC shipping and “personally hands the packages to the postman”. Hmmm.
Confused? That makes more than one of us.
2) Un-origionality:
Although she’s accused every seller under the sun of copying her (words that start wars), she herself is a copy queen. In the midst of failing to send orders, she found time to list her new “one of a kind – ooak resin bracelet” – the Ice and Water crackle bracelet. In her own words, it’s an “Awesome new concept bangle from bethtastic.”
Her new “original” Ice and Water bracelet is a KNOCK off of a limited edition Jenerous Ajenda etched resin bangle bracelet. Beth’s is nearly an exact duplicate. Give her a minute and she’ll be claiming she invented the dremel.

3) Etsy Bullying:
As shown by the many people commenting in the copy cat thread, Beth has a long line of people who feel bullied and harassed by her. She accuses people of copying, and can’t seem to consider that many of her ideas may NOT be original. I am sure she’s working her accusatory letter to Jenerous Ajenda now.
Instead of responding to these claims reasonably, she turns tables and plays victim. Maybe some of these accusations are wrong, maybe some of them are right, but you can’t deny that any shop that has this many accusations of harassment deserves to be noted. Even customers are not above her “table turning” behavior as noted in this Feedback from her store:
“Sep 29, 2011 Haven’t received the bangle…. E-mailed her again to say I was going to have to leave negative feedback & she told me to stop “harassing and threatening” her or she would leave bad feedback for me. I simply want to receive the item I paid for. This type of bad business shouldn’t be tolerated on a reputable site like Etsy. Feeling very upset and scammed.”
4) Manipulating sales:
Beth manipulates students & customers into feeling sorry for her, and in turn, many go purchase from her shop and leave positive feedback on the same day as purchase (how can you love a bracelet you can’t possibly have gotten yet?). Search her twitter handle and see for yourselves. She has on-line friendships with her students that crosses professional lines. Which is why her profession became relevant in discussions involving this store. At one point, Beth had claimed to be the victim of a huge paypal mistake, causing her financial harm, and again, her students stepped up, and purchased from her shop in order to help out their teacher. I consider this to be manipulating sales and if I were a parent of one of these kids, I’d be furious.
She also has “top secret custom listings” where she lists no product, no photo of a real item, and no description. But the customer, surprise surprise, just can’t sing her praises loud enough. “Top secret”- as in, a violation of Etsy’s TOU.
5) Shady “Vintage” sales:
Just read the posts of ‘resellers suck” for more on this. The evidence supports that bethtastic is selling items that are available on Amazon and passing them off as her own family heirlooms. The evidence speaks for itself. You cannot possibly sell a one-of-a-kind item more than once. Since these duplicate transactions appear in her timeline, while canceled sales do not, it’s clear she’s sneaking some resale items into her shop.

There is NO evidence that any of the other claims made against any of the other shops here are valid accusations. There is NO evidence that all of these accusations stem from only one person. There is NO evidence to support the accusation that any one of us wishes Beth to harm herself, and frankly, I am not going to her pity party, despite being invited to it a billion times over (my rotator cuff, my mental state, my privacy, my victimhood!)
All “personal” issues aside; Bethastic.etsy.com IS a shop ran by someone who is less than honest, less than reliable, less than original, and less than stable.
Being able to say so here, is the SOLE purpose of this site and I won’t be bullied into being silent because one girl want’s us all to play pretend with her.
Bethtastic.etsy.com has been called out. I for one would appreciate it, if the moderators of this site decided to post THIS thread as it’s own topic for any other unsuspecting person who becomes engaged with this shop, professionally or otherwise.

FAKE Mona is simple to figure out. As I mentioned above, the icon next to our name is unique for each poster. Simply scroll up and see that “Mia” who has been proven to be a student of “Ms B”, is who posted as Fake Mona. Mia herslef aplogized in her Twitter feed to “Ms B”, saying she’d stay out of this thread. Tisk, tisk.
Mia may have been trying to do her teacher a favor, but in turn did her none. Beth herself cannot possibly be surprised by these antics, as *this* is who she chooses to surround herself with, therefore she’s getting what she asks for.
it’s what happens when you tell your students, who are children, to stick up for you in your online disputes.
that’s just such a despicable thing to do to children. they should not be put in that position. certainly never by someone who has authority over them and influences them strongly the way a teacher does.

you seem like your intentions are good, you just want to defend your teacher.
however, your teacher should never, ever have put you in this position. she is taking advantage of you. she is the adult in this situation, and she should not be pulling you or any other of her students (as i know she has done with a number) into her online disputes. i am sure you like her as a teacher, but that does not excuse that behavior.
no matter what is going on with ms. blafka and other people online, she should not be asking you or any other student to step in, and she should also not be fishing for it by sharing information about it with you.
please talk with your parents about this, and other adults in authoritative positions in your life (school counselor or principal, for example). what is being done to you is wrong, and it should be stopped. i know you care about ms. blafka, but you need to watch out for yourself, too. ms. blafka is not helped at all by your stepping into the disputes. it only helps her keep going in a way that is hurting her, as well as her students, since she pulls you guys into this. she needs help, from an adult who can provide professional counseling on the topic.

Bethtastic stole 94 $ from me on ETSY when she failed to provide the bangle I bought from her. All I got was a sob story auto reply so I guess I should have gone to one of the shops that “stole” her idea. I hope my 94 $ haunts her in the form of bad karma until she returns it to me.
My apologies to Bethtastic, My package was apparently lost in the mail. Without the communication It appeared that the money was simply taken. Unfortunately I am without the item and the money though it seems to be the fault of the postal system and not Bethtastic.

That appears to be the overriding problem with Bethtastic, items were “lost” in the mail…..You need to ask her what the tracking number was for the package so you can locate it.
$94 is nothing to sneeze at, especially in this economy, I would either DEMAND my money back or ask that another bangle be shipped immediately WITH TRACKING. To just accept the excuse that it was lost in the mail and think that you have to just lose the money is ridiculous. The seller owes you either product or a refund. If it hasn’t been over 45 days I would start a claim with Paypal to get your money back. If it has been over 45 days I personally would become her worst nightmare, flooding her inbox with emails demanding my money back or a bangle. To not supply either a bangle or the refund is outright theft and should not be tolerated, especially since she is a “kind teacher”. What kind of example is she setting to her students when she steals from people?
I can appreciate if someone gets inundated with orders and is having trouble getting them out in a timely manner, but communication with the customer is vital so that the customer doesn’t lose faith and believe they are being ripped off. For the seller to be offended that customers are asking for their product or refund is ludicrous, would she allow Wal Mart or Amazon to just take HER money and not deliver what she ordered? I highly doubt it, and with her history she would probably launch an internet campaign against the companies including harassing all employees and their families!

Clearly your original post sparked SOMETHING in Beth, compelling her to suddenly reach out and contact you after not giving you the time of day for so long.
Regardless of what excuse you were given for her failure to fill your order, she IS actually responsible for your package. Etsy sellers choose the avenue for which the package is delivered on their behalf, to their customer; USPS just happens to be the most common one. Beth actually IS responsible for making sure you have the product or the money, and that your order is complete.
Prior to Beth taking the easy way out and closing down her shop, she had 22 Negatives, all singing the really pissed-off tune of NOT having gotten their packages. Those that DID get their items only saw action after filing claims with Paypal. Weird – I would think that the exchange of funds would spark someone filling an order vs. action from Etsy, Paypal, or being called out in feedback or threads.
22 packages lost at a post office, mailed at different times, but mailed by the same person? Statistically that is not even possible or feasible. The way I see it, is that when someone lies to you, either one of two things is happening:
1: They don’t respect you enough to give you the truth.
OR
2: They think you’re too stupid to figure it out.
99% of Etsy sellers, or ANY self-respecting person, would immediately issue a refund or send a new item. Passing out excuses and running from the problem speaks volumes to someones character, or lack thereof.
Who knows, though. As proven above, she’s shown to be less than truthful in her facts to her customers, quite manipulative as what’s supposed to be a respected role model, fantastic at screaming victim of her own doings, and let her shop tank after failing to maintain it resulting in horrific feedback before shutting down in a blaze of glory. Maybe in the grand scheme of things, she doesn’t mind taking your money, not filling your order – or REFILLING IT if it was lost – then calling it ‘good’. There’s something to be said about pride in craftsmanship & business ethics. Shutting down shop with a laundry list of excuses, and in doing so, cutting off the ability to read the deserved negatives OR leave their own account of a less than desirable experience…well, there’s no pride in that.

Until she learns her lessons and takes honest responsibility for them- she’s bound to repeat the same mistakes. If you’re a customer of Beth’s still waiting for your item, don’t hold your breath. This shop has an excuse for every single thing- the theme is the same; Beth NEVER takes any personal responsibility for herself, her shop mistakes, or her unprofessional on-line behavior. When she’s not dragging teenagers into the drama SHE creates, she’s acting like one herself.

Etsy has removed ALL traces of Bethtastic’s shop, including her terrible feedback. I’m not sure why they would remove a shop with outstanding orders, but what a stab at these customers. At one point Beth had something like 22 orders with feedback saying they never arrived. THIS is why this shop needed it’s own call out thread. These kinds of sellers make all of us look bad. And the customers are left just blowing in the wind-
For all you lost customers that stumble upon this thread- if you go to Etsy, and search for resin, you’ll find a multitude of talented shops selling GREAT work and shipping as promised. Of course, my personal favorite for resin is the shop that was called out by the queen of excuses herself- so I’m just going to say it: if you want AWESOME original resin pieces shipped AS promised- go see BuyMyCrap.etsy.com. She’s very loved, has great feedback, and is very popular. (no doubt why she became a target for Beth in the first place.)
Also, if you need to start a small court claim or send complaints to paypal and Etsy about your missing items, Bethtstic’s full name is Beth Blafka and she lives in Chicago. You can start a small court claim for this- and if you win, you can state that Beth pay for the legal fees. Go get your money back people.

On my end, I just don’t have the time of day for this. Thank goodness it’s June. Etsy is dead to me. I have been selling at booths, which is great. I closed my shop on my own. Hello there, I’m not sure how this works, but can this thread please be removed? I believe since this seller is no longer on Etsy, this thread should NOT come up when googling a first and last name.
I have read some of the comments here, and they are really crazy, not to mention defamatory and speculative. Her shop is closed on Etsy. Since this is an “Etsy Call Out Sight” this thread of nonsense.
Thank You, to whomever runs this blog. Honestly, I think my friend would refer not to be associated with Etsy at all. She is a really good person, and I think the negativity here is quite awful. To Anna: I know a bunch of us keep trying to get her to keep going, but maybe further on down the line, she’ll get back into it.
Does anyone know how I can contact the owner of this blog for thread removal? I think there are so many nasty things here (not directed at the blog owner at all), that I’m certain the other vendor would not like to have associated with them either. Just a thought.
