Im sure a quick search of all the items in this shop would show up somewhere else.  If any of these were handmade of course there is copyright infringement and not to mention the fact that they use the word vintage to describe new merchandise.  Mess.

omg i could never take anyone seriously wearing this shit

  2. Life During Wartime July 27, 2010 at 10:16 am #

The shop announcement says they are retailers and wholesalers, but nothing about handmade. I guess I misunderstood Fred’s video. I thought he meant by global marketplace a venue where people could buy art and crafts directly from their country of origin. I guess he meant Etsy should be the place where you can buy faux vintage rock themed tee shirts made in a factory in Thailand.

  3. Disgusted July 27, 2010 at 11:07 am #

I see that the resellers just pick and choose from the tags. A giveaway that it’s a reseller is when the first tag is “clothing”. Not handmade, vintage or a supply.

  4. detroit July 27, 2010 at 1:02 pm #

Okay – that’s it. My laptop just got stolen. I need to raise some money. No one else on Etsy seems to have any morals – so why should I?

I’m gonna clean out my closet and basement. I know how to take pretentious photos of wistful hipsters wearing my 5 year old clothes.

My garage sale will be coming soon!!

  5. Blue Kitty July 27, 2010 at 1:50 pm #

Add failure to mark as “mature” as another breach of TOU.

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/51395665/vintage-john-lennon-yoko-ono-war-is-over

Etsy coaching aid is desperately needed there.

  6. EyesWideOpen July 27, 2010 at 2:24 pm #

it’s hard to sell clothing online. Even if you have great stuff, handmade or vintage, it’s impossible to compete with professional photography paid for by a large company. (or stolen from a large company by some bogus bastard)

the only thing that bothers me about the tacky garage sale clothing on Etsy is having to be in proximity to it. Location, location, location and it drags down the local property values!! Tacky poo poo!

    I love that it says:
This item is NOT affiliated with Disney or anyone else. It is custom made by a fan, for fans (non-fans too).

That must make it all okay?

  8. sparkalicious July 27, 2010 at 4:12 pm #

I say let’s call down the Wrath of Disney on them: “Oh yoo-hoo, Disney legal barracudas, check out this cool Etsy site!” Maybe a feeding frenzy will ensue.

Anybody have any further details about Woolybumblebee’s shop getting shut down?

    http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=6585798

  10. Life During Wartime July 27, 2010 at 6:25 pm #

Google shows Woolybumblebee’s shop, but I get the oopsie knitter chick when I click on the items. WTF???

  11. detroit July 27, 2010 at 6:26 pm #

    Yes, please rehash tx!

  12. detroit July 27, 2010 at 6:32 pm #

Seriously – can someone link that shit! I don’t have all night / day!

  13. detroit July 27, 2010 at 6:36 pm #

    Okay – I’m on p. 16. WHAT WHAT??

  14. detroit July 27, 2010 at 6:41 pm #

    Fucking 30 pages of

    ‘makes tea!!!”

    ‘gives out brownies!”

    ‘throws confetti!!’

‘makes chocolate chip cookies for the brownie lovers!!’

“mmmmm. Great brownies crafter no. 3230″

    ‘Thanks!! Have some wine!”

    STFU!!

  15. Life During Wartime July 27, 2010 at 6:47 pm #

Yeah, I give up quickly on topics where half of the posts are like that. What a nice bunch.

The typical Etsy girl grabs her knitting and plops down on her arse next to the virtual guillotine.

  16. detroit July 27, 2010 at 6:59 pm #

So – what happened to Woolybumblebee’s shop anyway? What evil did they do that is much greater than all of the fake Gaga-glasses-selling-yahoos out there?

I’m willing to have my mind changed!

What evil, satanic act have they committed?

  17. sick of cupcakes July 27, 2010 at 7:09 pm #

Well if you look at the google cache of her page, you can see that she actually makes her own stuff, which I believe may be against the TOU’s now.

  18. sick of cupcakes July 27, 2010 at 7:11 pm #

    Is this the right shop?

    http://www.etsy.com/shop/WoolyBumblebee

  19. sick of cupcakes July 27, 2010 at 7:11 pm #

    Nevermind….yes it is. I’m a duh.

  20. SimonJester July 27, 2010 at 7:49 pm #

Hmm… none of WoolyBumblebee’s stuff is actually there. Looks like a shop full of items but says “0 items for sale”. And when you click on an item you get an error message. What’s up with that? Weird…

  21. anon July 27, 2010 at 8:32 pm #

Ok, who were the other two shops? I’m guessing that Wooly was one of them. She sells wool roving and yarn? Why would they be shut down?

  22. EyesWideOpen July 27, 2010 at 8:37 pm #

same thing on the shop linked in the announcement. How can something show up as a listing and Uh Oh! when you click on it? There must be a clusterfuck somewhere.

  23. Life During Wartime July 27, 2010 at 8:52 pm #

Something got crossed up yesterday when Etsy had to go offline for a bit? I dunno how I can see the gallery if there are no items…there shouldn’t be any photos visible if there is nothing for sale.

  24. sick of cupcakes July 28, 2010 at 5:31 am #

Someone IM’ed me last night that she had her 3 shops closed for having a NEVER USED undisclosed account from 2008 which she had forgotten about. Unbelievable.

  25. anon July 28, 2010 at 5:39 am #

See, if that is true, that is so WAY Overboard. Unless it was shown that the undisclosed account had been used in a fraudulent manner then all they need do is close the undisclosed account and tell her if it happens again their may be further action taken. Good lord, does this mean they plan to kick some admin off the site for their undisclosed accounts. I didn’t see them kick Janine King off when her account was exposed.

    ARGH!

  26. Blue Kitty July 28, 2010 at 5:51 am #

There are several known cases of people who used undisclosed accounts to post in the forum and much worse to shill their accounts but they seem to have survived unscathed, if (emphasis on IF) that was the reason its really strange and very unfair.

  27. EyesWideOpen July 28, 2010 at 5:52 am #

Things are handled selectively. if you piss a staffer off personally, you are going to get the axe before the “successful” shop that sucks up. AND their memories are long….

  28. sick of cupcakes July 28, 2010 at 5:57 am #

She doesn’t make enough money to be forgiven I guess. That and she doesn’t have a factory making her stuff for her.

Not even her pics or ideas…..

Pics are stolen from walmart, candyblast, proflowers, etc.

Amazing – Citizens of Humanity was founded in 2003.

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/52106847/citezens-of-humanity-ingrid-low-rise

Or wait – ARE garage sales formally allowed on Etsy now?

  34. Cat Power July 28, 2010 at 11:05 am #

Wow, links in 32 and 33 are now a. empty and b. not listed. Someone is paying attention for a change!

  35. Life During Wartime July 28, 2010 at 11:13 am #

The link in 31 is still there…but she has already made fauxvintage listed as handmade sales.

    Safe!

  36. PussDaddy July 28, 2010 at 11:24 am #

If they were really paying attention then there would be no shop left period, not just an empty one.

  37. Cat Power July 28, 2010 at 3:28 pm #

    True that, puss.

  38. sick of cupcakes July 28, 2010 at 3:51 pm #

    Link in 31’s empty now.

  39. Life During Wartime July 28, 2010 at 4:14 pm #

Wow! Dare I hope these faux vintagers will be closed? Or are they both just signed up for a coaching session. Like telling them to stop mentioning brands, stores, or designers — and don’t show the tags — if you want to pass your stuff as vintage.

  40. sick of cupcakes July 28, 2010 at 5:30 pm #

    This was a successful thread!

  41. PussDaddy July 28, 2010 at 6:32 pm #

I noticed people searching for this bumblebee stuff on my blog in my google analytics but had no idea what it meant. I am not blogging all that much actually.

  42. Freckleyredhead July 29, 2010 at 5:35 am #

I just don’t understand why Etsy is so quick to shut down some obvious resllers but not others. The cufflinks, non-vintage sunglasses, and twilightcrap shops are still up and running but this one gets shut down? Weird.

Oh, and anyone know what’s up with the Closed Threads blog? It is waaaaaaay behind.

  43. Disgusted July 29, 2010 at 7:37 am #

Closed threads seems to post about once a week. Sometimes longer, sometimes sooner.

  44. damn July 29, 2010 at 7:40 am #

    yeah admin, shut them down:
    http://www.etsy.com/shop/Aliceinthecity

  45. Inspector Yuk July 29, 2010 at 9:25 am #

Damn, did you read the profile? All these ‘collectives’ sound the same. I’m beginning to think that all China is is not factories, but little collectives of students making all the crap they export and it’s all shipped by the parents.

  46. Cat Power July 29, 2010 at 2:36 pm #

Aliceinthecity is still in business with 2 pages of listings. Didn’t check the profile, but maybe they “reworded” their blurb to comply, with a little help from their “friends”.

  47. gottaovegoogle July 30, 2010 at 6:10 am #

hardtattoo SHOP EMPTY! Still there, but empty… go ECO!

  48. gottaovegoogle July 30, 2010 at 6:12 am #

I believe admin move much more cautiously when they’ve featured or storqued a seller who resells new crap. I’ve reported the ice cream bucket as soon as I saw it and I assume I’m not alone, but it’s still there today. I never blindly report, always explain and provide links if possible.

  49. gottaovegoogle July 30, 2010 at 6:55 am #

doh! #48 was supposed to go in the other thread heading!
