I thought I was on e-bay for a moment when I read the product descriptions in this shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/sistersdress where they boast in their announcement that “95% of their factory workers and designers are female”.
seriously- if I can find this shop just by doing a simple search for prom dresses- why can’t etsy do the same?

I think the sellers are a little confused as to what Etsy is SUPPOSED to be all about… The whole darn store needs to be flagged- and shut down.

I got a chuckle from the rubbed out face

Again, etsy dings legit sellers and resellers THRIVE. I mean, its not like they are open for a short time and shut down. THEY THRIVE.

I hope blogs like this are seen before any IPO is issued. It would be funny if an IPO was issued and no one came.

I think etsy’s behavior is really bordering on criminal.

And I am willing to bet that etsy NEVER checks the site for resellers/TOU violators. I bet that they rely solely on flags. Of course, we all know how that works.

FashionableRX is an obvious reseller. I mean, c’mon! She makes hair extensions, carved bone jewelry, thread jewelry, rings, and wirework jewelry for those prices? She may be glueing the findings on the rings herself, since her feedback shows they are not soldered as they should be. But what about all the other items?

Too many different skills to make all the items offered + low prices + delays in mailing + FB about cheap appearance and low quality = reseller.

Amazing that a shop like this can make almost 800 sales in a bit over one year. And this is stuff urban female professionals want to buy on Etsy? Cheap hair extensions and base metal import jewelry? Really?

Its like all of the typical reseller shit in one store. Just think of all of the buyers who got scammed by etsy. 😦

I would love to see a class-action lawsuit.

I love some of the feedback for FashionableRX:

“Buyer Beware!! Seller claims that her blurry photos are “very accurate”. I paid $23.00 dollars for a cheap piece of metal with 2 adjustable rings hot glued on. The ring is very uncomfortable and cuts into your fingers as well as the clear shiny coating on the ring flakes right off. Seller does not refund money!! And does not back up the quality of her “art”. Unfortunately I could have found a better quality ring at Forever 21 for a third of what I paid for this crap and the ring would have even been soldered together. I hope this helps the next person looking to purchase from this seller. Save your money.”

“extremely mad that i spent almost $50 on two such poorly made products.”

As much as I wish Etsy would clean up their site and get rid of sellers like this I know it won’t happen. I do wish that buyers would stop purchasing this kind of crap expecting high quality handmade jewelry though. If you want cheap Forever 21 jewelry than go to Forever 21.

WOW- I am shocked at how quickly sistersdress shop was emptied.
Why can’t they all go that quickly?

They;re being coached into compliance. They;ll be back.

I am sorry, but the buyers should be ashamed of themselves as well. Who buys that crap anyway?

I have to say that jewelry shop is awful. I know it’s ultimately Etsy’s fault for allowing it to stand. But, CMON, the buyers can’t look at the shop for 2 seconds and tell it’s super cheap CRAP!

I mean, did the people who left the negs really expect that for $23 frikken dollars someone was going to design a ring, buy metals, and solder / cast / sand and polish the thing?

I think most of the people got what they expected – super cheap, trendy, ‘fast fashion’ at third world pricing. BUT that’s supposed to be what Etsy was an ALTERNATIVE TO!!

And goddamn – just looked and they have near 800 sales? That makes me want to cry. I’m pretty sure most of the young kids buying stuff from that shop have no clue what Etsy’s supposed to be about. They just see it as another ebay….

Anyone who buys that crap, especially with that crappy feedback, deserves what they get.

If you want cheap, you’ll get cheap.
