This shop is everywhere…Bonanza, Etsy, ArtFire….everything in it is a wholesale item you can find on the internet…here are just a few examples.  On many occasions she has even copied the photos and put her mark on them…on Etsy there have been 79 sales.

I think you get the drift of where I’m going with this….I am really tired of Etsy turning a blind eye to these resellers…I KNOW ArtFire will take care of it…..but Etsy will take the money no matter where it comes from.

Interesting how many Asian resellers use the oldest names for their “team” members. Alice? Ivan? Kay? How many people under 40 do you know with those names?

And the profiles of these shops are often so similar – so-and-so does the sewing, so-and-so does the patternmaking, and so forth. They just sound really familiar, almost like someone told them what to write…

Well, since Etsy won’t pull them down, maybe the copyright holders will do something, I can’t imagine that the Spiderman and Hello Kitty stuff is licensed.

Well, here is a link to bust that liar wide open: http://mtrgood.com/cms.php?id_cms=4

He is clearly a distributor and nothing in the ‘about’ section of the website mentions handmade at all. As a matter of fact, it clearly says they work hard to find the best sources.

I’m not so sure that ArtFire is taking care of anything in terms of violators.

Revolt70 is there (featured seller from Korea with a watch ‘collective’) as handmadewatches, but sells mostly jewelry instead.

I’ve found a seller on both Etsy and AF adding drop shipped items to her AF studio she doesn’t dare list on Etsy.

And hiding stuff as ‘vintage’ — many Etsy also sellers are doing that on AF. I think you have to be signed-in on AF to read all their forums, but WOW what a revelation!

Exploring ArtFire puts Etsy in perspective. It’s hard work policing your site, and site owners are in business to collect shop or listing fees, not play netpolice. Flagging doesn’t work. Blogging doesn’t shame them. Most violators will always be safe if they have a product John Q. and Emily Cheyenne Public want.

Etsy shall pay you, you, you, you.

Spending your time looking for resellers rather than improving your own design, spending time with your family and friends, or just take a nap. Wooo… did your sale increase when you kicked out the ‘resellers’ you flagged? I guessed not. Get a life.

For those who always take ‘Asian sellers’ = ‘resellers’, are you really that threatened? Only you have to pay bills and raise family, no one else need? Asian people’s labor is cheaper than yours? You are not that ‘expensive’.

GET A LIFE. Go polish your fingernail.

Interesting, that Feltu site has an empty shop on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/feltu

So you think it all comes down to jealousy and greed, getalife? I suggest you look into the concepts of integrity and honesty, if those aren’t too complicated for you.

I was just reading a thread about this seller on Artfire. Notice how on the bling phone cases the last picture shows how they ‘make’ them. Unfortunately that will be proof enough for the idiots that work for Etsy and this seller will be allowed to stay. And will probably be the next featured seller.

I’m getting more and more disillusioned with etsy every day.

    (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

yet you post here. It’s so easy to find resellers– you don’t have to spend time finding them because they are in our faces every day. Go paint your own fingernails. REal artists don’t bother doing that because their fingers are actually used to make things and one manicure is ruined in less than two hours. If you are a reseller, you can manicure your nails all you want because your manicure will never wear out— as you are not actually using your fingers TO DO ANY REAL WORK other than maybe typing.
ps your grammar and spelling calls you out; nobody has to defend an entire continent or hemisphere. “Methinks thou dost protest too much”– that’s Shakespeare, in case you never heard of him.

  11. BooBoo October 7, 2010 at 4:33 pm #

My bad. Just polish that one fingernail that you use the most: the middle one.
It’s not jealousy, fool, it’s about INTEGRITY. Look it up, there are lots of websites that will translate it for you.

Sadly, I think getalife and his/her ilk already have us beaten.

It hurt my feelings a lot to be taunted by him/her, since I know that whatever I make can be made for pennies on the (crappy) US dollar.

He/she can tell us to work on our own shops all day long, and then, when we get success, he/she and/or the others working in similar factories will steal our original ideas and sell them for less.

    Yeah, we are screwed.

  13. etsycallout October 7, 2010 at 5:05 pm #

Have you really not looked at our quote on the sidebar?!

  14. jenjasmine October 7, 2010 at 5:13 pm #

Also, to continue my rant, etsy USED to be a place for artists and craftspeople who made their own work with their own two nail scrabbled down hands to sell their work that they made with passion and with soul.

We were so happy that we had found a place where we could show our ORIGINAL work to people who appreciated things like that.

Now come the factories, and ruin all our hopes.

    well.good for you.

Maybe someday you’ll understand something besides making a ton of money and lying.

As much as I hate the resellers, my anger is with Etsy. It’s like a cheating partner. Are you more angry with the bimbo that slept with him, or with him?

Etsy is the one that has failed to live up to their agreement with the true sellers of handmade, vintage and supplies.

  16. jenjasmine October 7, 2010 at 5:37 pm #

etsy has become a fraud, and having a reseller come taunt us is grinding salt into the wound.

Just wait, this shop will be on the FP in the next week, because etsy will want to kick us down even more, and they will laugh into their fake moustaches and cowls, so that the sound doesn’t carry too far.

  17. BooBoo October 7, 2010 at 5:59 pm #

Companies are not people; they don’t have any ethics beyond making money.
Human beings are held to a higher standard. Getalife, your life is not something I admire or am jealous of. You can go straight to Hell and take your profits with you.

The customers I want are the ones who know quality and appreciate creativity and skill, and those are the customers I get. You can have all the others and welcome to them. Spend all your time fleecing the idiots for all I care. Quality will win out in all the ways you have no capability to understand.
    Put that in your translator.

  18. RealDeal October 7, 2010 at 6:03 pm #

“Sheep leather are very soft and with nice to tough surface. Products manufactured from high grade sheep skins we use are beautiful and last for long.”

    (((((((((((((((((((((((((((

If you think this makes sense in terms of handmade, you can’t read.
WE? Manufactured? You haven’t done your homework.
10:1 this seller will clean up her act, but the only people who will be fooled by it are the ignorants who want something for nothing or are too far away from WalMart to get there to shop.

^^ This! I put the blame squarely at the feet of ETSY! No different than any other crap venue. They just pretend to be different.

    getalife-

Let me explain something to you… Etsy is a place for handmade items (and vintage and supplies), not for cheap mass produced crap, the items on Etsy need to be one of the three things listed above…

You can whine all you want about people needing to feed their their families (blah blah blah) I believe everyone here knows and understands that and THAT is why we DO flag resellers, because we are the people that HANDMAKE our items that we are attempting to sell on Etsy.
You see, there are plenty of places that DO allow people to sell things they have not made by hand, but Etsy is not one of them. So not only do YOU need to get a life, but you also need to GET A CLUE, resellers do NOT belong on Etsy.

Let the artists have their Etsy… it is the one well established marketplace for crafters, so don’t go invading on their turf and expect them to be sympathetic.

    Sheesh.

  21. jenjasmine October 7, 2010 at 7:07 pm #

One more thing- the “go polish your fingernail” is about having a long pinky fingernail that is proof that YOU DON”T WORK FOR A LIVING.

You suck the life out of other people, how happy for you.

  22. The Unknown Etsian October 7, 2010 at 7:09 pm #

    ______
If the shoe fits……..Asia seems to be the place where lots and lots of cheaply made, counterfeit, imitation, poorly constructed crap that isn’t handmade, vintage or a supply is coming from. Sure there are Asian companies that make great things. But the resellers on Etsy aren’t in that group.

  23. Lisa October 7, 2010 at 8:07 pm #

    Getalife…
I’m not jealous of you or your business. I feel bad for you.

I feel sad that you will never know what it feels like to start with a scrap of fabric, a piece of wood, a string of beads, and make something beautiful and useful.

I feel sad that you will never know the joy of having someone buy something that you created with your own two hands.

I feel sad that you will never get to feel warm and fuzzy when someone who purchases something that was your creation raves about how wonderful it is.

Sadly, no matter how many mass produced items you sell, you’ll never know how we feel.

    Sad.

getalife probably lives in Brooklyn because I imagine those hipster a$$holes are illiterate too.

  25. Laura October 8, 2010 at 9:40 am #

I think it’s important for artists to have their own website. If a seller has a website, I will purchase off of it instead of Etsy. I can’t stomach these resellers, and my support for Etsy has screeched to a halt. I still buy from a few favs, but for the most part..as a buyer..I am gone.

It’s just a matter of time until Etsy becomes a joke even more. They need the artist more then the artist needs them.

Another Featured Seller who breaks rules regarding tags. Congratulations http://www.etsy.com/shop/redheart13?ref=seller_info and congratulations Etsy for, yet again, showing us how important it is to follow the TOUs.

I hope you all are picking up on my sarcasm. I’m laying it on pretty thick.

  27. Life During Wartime October 8, 2010 at 11:40 am #

You don’t need to observe the TOU if you write descriptions like ‘makes a bold statement for any tragedy’ for jewelry. WJW She needs to set up a chain of gift shops at addiction treatment centers and other mental health facilities. Yeah, I am being sarcastic, too! But I am disappointed that Etsy chose to feature someone who writes like suicide is an opportunity to show off your fashion sense. Just, no.

We are drowning in a third world sea of crap. I can only get worse. Education is the only antidote

  29. Amy October 8, 2010 at 9:47 pm #

it was always so obvious that Feltu shop was dodgy. as is this MTRGood. depressing. such crap. and this stuff sells – a lot.

  30. Abby October 17, 2010 at 6:28 am #

I have decided that I will no longer flag anything on Etsy. They do not care if their marketplace is turning into Ebay/Bonanza. Its their website, they can allow whatever they want to allow. It is our choice as buyers and sellers on whether we want to continue to patronize Etsy even though you do not agree with their ways.

when i go to a gift shop, i always look for cute little stuffed animals and other cute stuffs’;.
