JoyceWang, Turelove

10 Nov

Today’s puzzler: – China – joined Oct. 13 2010
note this listing from the above shop:

and the above store has their favorites public and they have “favorited” this dress which happens to be the same dress they have in their own shop… but it is in a different store – China – joined Oct. 18 2010

and both shops happen to have a ton of merchandise that can be found on Alibaba (try the Hangzhou Wholesale City Trading Co. Ltd. )

Now- it is sort of interesting that the favorites are so visible on the profile page- I NEVER would have noticed these thing before…

more in a moment- as this little puzzler gets even more fun…

    Turely reprehensible.

I’ve noticed on occasion that Etsy sellers who have more than one store favorite items in their 2nd store, so that people checking their favorites section might ‘click over’ and shop there, too….

I like how they spelled “TrueLove” wrong.

  4. losinghope November 10, 2010 at 11:44 am #

Maybe she meant to call it “Turdlove” All at etsy must be so proud of their site.

Omg I just snorted out loud!

    Oh boy!

  7. WangFu November 10, 2010 at 3:58 pm #

    She’s selling coral.

yes, good ol’ Joyce just makes clothes one at a time, goes out to her oceanside backyard and snaps a few pics… except when she takes her photos against a seamless backdrop or attractively decorated set!

(why would anyone with a waterfront view spend any time handmaking dresses that only sell for $25?)

Remember when we were talking about elderly-looking hands a few weeks ago? Cindy’s Treasures…..yikes.

  10. whoreforcolor November 10, 2010 at 5:36 pm #

Oh, I feel bad now, as I read her profile and she is dealing with some serious health issues. I wish I hadn’t snarked about her hands. 😦 Maybe the webmistress will delete these posts in case she reads them.

Is it okay to mention that it looks like she’s a reseller?

  12. amused November 10, 2010 at 6:39 pm #

I read her profile as well before posting and felt bad for her but she doesn’t belong on Etsy.

  13. Etsy Made Me Do It November 10, 2010 at 6:54 pm #

not a shop that belongs on etsy- hands or not…
and one of her favorites happens to look like a re-seller also. why is it that re-sellers always heart other re-sellers and
sadly- if you look at people that buy from the re-sellers usually happen to buy from other re-sellers.
    the common thread- LOW PRICE

I wouldn’t feel so bad for someone when they mention any issues, (health or otherwise), anywhere within their business. My feeling is they’re pushing for pity sales. A few years ago in the etsy forums a seller posted that she just got fired that day, boohoo, (and I”m not making light of anyone who has lost or is losing their job), the next day I looked at her shop and she had dozens of sales the day before. My immediate thought was that her ploy worked. I feel like this, this is a business not a coffee clatch, keep your personal stuff to yourself!

I just felt bad because her medical condition could have affected the state of her hands. Her avatar picture looks like a very young woman, and those hands do not; whatever. It’s separate from the issue that she may be a reseller who doesn’t belong on Etsy.

I am willing to bet its a scam all the way around. Call me CynicalFu. I’ve been around the interwebs way too long, I guess.

Cindy’s Treasures – those are not the hands of a young person, end of story. I’ve seen elderly hands aplenty. Either she’s got someone else in the picture or her grandma modeling the jewelry.

Yep – if she is for real, and ill – I wish her the best, of course. But, I’m always skeptical when people mention their illness (or other hardship), in such a context (when they’re trying to sell something). People I’ve known who’ve had cancer don’t put it out there when they’re trying to sell you something.

Was it PD’s blog, where she’d link to forum threads where people would actually be ASKING for money (for rent, or once wasn’t it to bail their Mom out of jail, or something???)

That was unbelievable enough to me, but even more – people were PAYPALING them money??? To a stranger on Etsy?

And – I’m totally all for helping friends out – I’ve loaned / given plenty of friends a few bucks for gas or whatever til payday. But, difference being – they’re my FRIENDS! Not some stranger with a sob story online.

Looks like the two shops are down for the count.

  21. Life During Wartime November 11, 2010 at 7:03 pm #

Down for the coaching you mean? An empty shop is in dialog with Etsy.

  22. Etsy Made Me Do It November 11, 2010 at 7:52 pm #

    has anyone else noticed that
is STILL open and still selling? all of the boleros are on alibaba…
    what the hell?

  23. CrochetLover November 13, 2010 at 9:57 am #

It looks to me that the alibaba seller stole pictures from alexbridal. Look at all other products that alibaba seller has. All the pictures were stolen from some big bridal companies. If you search alibaba, you will find tons of pictures from etsy sellers.

  24. madmomma November 13, 2010 at 6:16 pm #

you may be right. I just yesterday saw a stolen (etsy) photo on Alibaba, but now with an Alibaba watermark.
Make sure you let the Etsy sellers know that not only their photos have been stolen, but possibly their designs are being stolen also.
