wqangbin, gooditem, lwangslife, thesimpson, simplecut1981

12 Nov
It appears that these 2 shops are run by the same person, Bin Wang, whose shops named http://wangbin.etsy.com and http://gooditem.etsy.com which I found searching the text in the profile of etsy shops http://lwangslife.etsy.com and http://thesimpson.etsy.com
I was searching “all clothing are handmade by my family and team all fabulous creations made by us when we feel inspired ” and found the cached closed shop.
It has the same items now for sale in lwangslife.   I could tell that lwangslife is a reseller by the “look”  which has a number of distinctive keys we’re learned to recognize.   One is the “etsy speak” of “all items made by our team and family with love”.   And the fake poetry used to describe the items, in the style of idea2lifestyle (another well-known reseller).  So I investigated.
Anyway, I also discovered that lwangslife was also using the profile text from Etsy shops  linaline and zoechen — “Here you can find unique apparel that is made from my imagination and illustration.”
and futher searching of the text turned up  http://gooditem.etsy.com
http://www.etsy.com/listing/45330594/floral-halter-neck-dress where he says his name is Bin Wang. AGAIN,  SHOP CLOSED.
Since lwangslife is selling the same items from binwang’s closed shop, it would seem easy enough to close the reseller lwangslife and their other shop thesimpson, since once a reseller, always a reseller!
To add insult to injury, some of the same items in thesimpson are sold by ANOTHER reseller, http://simplecut1981.etsy.com :
A short sleeve version was sold by thesimpson.etsy.com
Simplecut1981     claims it was designed by Jane Yan on their “team”:
It’s actually  http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=111235367 (24 in stock)  (I don’t know brand)
The dress called never again on thesimpson
Wow.   call it a family, apologize for your Eng:lish, say it’s made by the team, use poetry in the listing —  and you’re in!

To all you fucking resellers that come here and post in the comments, get your god damn garbage off etsy, nobody wants to see your cheaply made, child labored garbage

  2. Etsy Made Me Do It November 12, 2010 at 10:39 am #

it does say in the profile of lwang- that they also sell as the simpson… but i have a feeling there is quite a large scam going on with the connection of some of these shops…

but i was also working on figuring out the connection between
    http://www.etsy.com/people/idea2lifestyle
    and http://www.etsy.com/people/ChuanShuo

the profiles seem incredibly similar the way they describe the city they live in…

i believe these shops have some common thread also- i believe there are a few more to add to the list- more later…

Most of this crap is gone – fortunately. Now all you Etsy admin who read this blog get rid of the rest of it. The bullshit never ends.

Proving once again that the Etsy SC(r)AM software written to keep a reseller from opening multiple shops and reopening closed shops under a new name is useless. These clothing manufacturers are real businesses, and can open shops from more than one location. Even open shops fronted by family members in the US. The best way to ID repeat resellers is by common language elements, as this post shows so well. Great call-out.

Too bad Etsy never bothered to take my free advice to them, posted over and over in comments here, that they need software to scan text for snips of identical language in shops opened by different people.

Heck, the resellers and Etsy are all too stoopid to qualify as Nazi spies. They would all have been court-martialed, shot, and sent to the Russian Front long since (another HOGAN’S HEROES ref. for Garagetsy) 😉

Does anyone know what is up with this faux vintage shop whose owner pops up regularly to pimp her employer’s URL in the Forums? I probably haven’t read all of the threads she started, but it’s odd no one has questioned her shop or why she keeps linking to a non-Etsy business.

Nice detective work! I’m sure these resellers think they’re so crafty starting different shops to stay under the radar, little do they know we are still smarter 🙂

  11. WangFu November 12, 2010 at 2:41 pm #

Excellent sleuthing. This is what is so great about this blog. I am letting my items expire little by little. I think its time to get off the etsy tit.

Has an item on the front page right now. I say SWAP MEET!!!

  14. Cat Power November 13, 2010 at 2:05 pm #

Does look like a swap meet, but you have to agree they have the Etsy Photo look, down pat! Ick!

    Amazing handmade shoes, really.

  16. Life During Wartime November 13, 2010 at 2:58 pm #

Uh huh. I love the way a seller with a shop address in the USA is ‘handmaking’ shoes that are marked ‘P A R I S’ on the insole. And what a bargain price for handmade (in this case, drop shipped from Asia?) shoes! Etsy style = cheap knock-offs made with sweatshop labor. Shame shame shame!

  17. jenjasmine November 13, 2010 at 3:56 pm #

That shoe thing is so phony, but also bizarre. Why the limited sizes? Did they not steal ALL the lasts?

Not that etsy will do anything, but I’m reporting that shop.

  18. ebilly November 13, 2010 at 4:51 pm #

Just to make you hate etsy more, you can do this on Artfire.
    http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=forums&op=view_topic&tid=19511
    reseller call out
and it will not be closed.

  19. madmomma November 13, 2010 at 6:11 pm #

what??? you mean AF doesn’t have forum mommies to tell the kids to play nicely?
See if the kids are left to their own devices they will call out others and the others will get embarassed- or defend and things will work themselves out on their own. What part of this does Etsy NOT understand.
oh yea, they want to micro manage!

  20. Holly November 13, 2010 at 9:35 pm #

Wow for the call out reason alone after the damn taking away the keep shopping button friday on etsy I am ready for Artfire. Looked around it a bit today looking better and better.

  21. Justheaddesk November 14, 2010 at 1:03 pm #

..and for gods sake, will people stop including these shops in treasuries! Most frickin days do i see the them on the front page (curators who should know better)

    These pants from Lwangslife:

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/56568560/cosiness-tsumugi-loose-pants?image_id=175279747

appear to be modeled by this same lady via idea2lifestyle:

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/61016989/missing-you-linen-shirt-y1003

So are Lwangslife and idea2lifestyle, the same too??

    and this skirt from idea:

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/61779714/less-is-more-red-pocket-long-skirt-gray

…is all over the place on Etsy….

    http://www.etsy.com/listing/61580540/losing-my-way-skirt-more-colour-choose

I feel like a bit of a tit, as i purchased quite a lot from idea2lifestyle a good few years ago. Sewing dreams my arse.

Total cash cows for Etsy though.

  22. Justheaddesk November 14, 2010 at 1:17 pm #

Ignore the first part of my last comment, i think they are different peeps modeling.

  23. Life During Wartime November 14, 2010 at 2:46 pm #

I think I remember Forum threads about Idea2LifeStyle where it was mentioned that Idea is a reseller who removed factory tags from mass-produced clothing. Some wording was in their shop about removing tags from the items so they would be more comfortable to wear — what a load! If Idea is even partly a reseller — and partly a factory collective shop — it comes as no surprise that other resellers on Etsy would list the same clothing items.

The Asian clothing factories do not belong on Etsy. Or on Art Fire. But they are established on handmade sites, and I don’t see them going away any time soon.

  28. Maul November 14, 2010 at 7:21 pm #

On the subject of front page favoritism:

Congrats to TheFancyLamb, who just broke the 300 mark for front page features! The five times she was featured on the front page today along pushed her to 302!

  29. Maul November 14, 2010 at 7:21 pm #

That should have read alone. I was so excited I made a typo!

  30. CommonNom November 14, 2010 at 7:53 pm #

Maul- this is just one more reason I refuse to buy from sellers that are part of treasury teams… and why, as buyer, I never bother looking at the front page.
some of the best shops are the ones that are never on the front page. plus the front page always looks the same. blech.

  31. em November 14, 2010 at 9:55 pm #

WOW, five times just today? That is pathetic.

Ok, this is really off topic, but has been getting on my nerves lately. I keep seeing these threads asking sellers if they send convos confirming orders and shipment. 95% of the people say they do, and when I say no, because it’s redundant and I find it unnecessary, they try to win me over with inaccurate analogies to inattentive cashiers at b&m shops. Do you really worry that much as a buyer when the seller doesn’t go head over heels sending you convos at every turn?

“Ok, I got your package wrapped up, going to go to the post office now!”

“Just got back from the PO, it took a little while longer though, had to stop and get some milk…” etc. etc.

Sorry just had to vent a little.

  33. sick of cupcakes November 15, 2010 at 3:44 am #

Em, back when I used to actually make sales I just sent a “your package mailed today” email, but only if I didn’t ship through paypal. I recently bought a custom stamped pendant and would have liked some communication from the seller. She never told me what the hell was going on, it just showed up one day.

  34. losinghope November 15, 2010 at 4:31 am #

On Friday, raceytay was on the FP 6 times!!! She & fancylamb are both part of teamt. Everyone should peruse the FP over a period of time and they will have their eyes open to the favoritism esty is showing to a couple of teams. They are
    every other treasury.

Their HAS to be other worthy treasury out of the 10,586 listed. Come on etsy, FP exposure is a boone to a shop. Please be more fair and stop with the favoritism.

  35. losinghope November 15, 2010 at 4:32 am #

    Geez! *their=there*

  36. The Unknown Etsian November 15, 2010 at 6:50 am #

TheFancyLamb has vintage items that are rather battered looking (not in a good way) and lots of bland looking “I made it myself” books/journals. If this is the best that Etsy can offer, time to abandon ship for everyone.

  37. JK November 15, 2010 at 7:22 am #

Em, I’ve been on the receiving end of a seller who seriously sent a convo every step of the way. Oh. My. God. It was so irritating! I could tell it was just because she was new and excited, but it put me right off.

  38. Life During Wartime November 15, 2010 at 11:30 am #

Concerning contact with customers, if someone who has an Etsy shop has sold on other venues they may be used to buyers who expect a lot of hand-holding. Personally, I always acknowledge a purchase/payment OR contact a buyer who has purchased but not yet paid. And then email a note when the item has been shipped. 2 emails is what you usually get when you make a purchase anywhere on the web.

Front page favoritism is so obvious that it stinks, right thru cyberspace I swear! All of Etsy’s pet ‘vintage’ sellers are listing items in shoddy (or less than Good) condition right now because that is the Etsy trend. I’ve also seen items in the favored shops passed as vintage that aren’t old. I miss Garagetsy so much! There was faux vintage (again) in yesterday’s Get the Look Dorque feature, and I so wanted to vent.

  39. huh? November 15, 2010 at 3:44 pm #

    1. don’t buyers get an automated message from the seller after they purchase? (if the sellers have the option set up?)
    2. and don’t buyers get an automated message when the seller marks the “shipped” box in their sold items?

  40. TT's suck November 15, 2010 at 4:01 pm #

WTH with the front page and treasury teams?

The other day I noticed the same item was on the front page 2 times just a few hours apart. I thought I was losing my mind. Another reason that Etsy sucks.

  41. Justheaddesk November 15, 2010 at 11:35 pm #

Seriously on the topic of the front page, it is becoming an embarrassment.

Teamt, agteam and curationnation are the three biggies, (never used to know this stuff, but twitter and the forums are full of info)

Certain members of these teams are never off the front page. Now yep i know admin does the choosing, and as if those that are featured are going to complain!

Its bloody irritating. I have not the time to make 4 treasuries a day to try and get a look in. Plus unless i am in the “right” team, it wont make the slightest difference anyway.

Also all these teams are closed to further applicants/or juried. (which is fine, they won’t want to rock the boat)

But if i hear some smug passive aggressive forum poster (you must know who this is) suggest that i make my own team, i will tell them where to stick it where the sun don’t shine.

    Bletch

  42. Justheaddesk November 15, 2010 at 11:41 pm #

Excuse my off topic rant 🙂

I agree with life, the big sellers like idea2lifestyle and a few other will not be going anywhere anytime soon. They have been coached throughly by Etsy to present as site legal collectives.

They make Etsy a lot of money.

Well Thomas, are all Chinese as professional, courteous, and as intelligent as you? If so, your country is in trouble.

Seems like you have an inferiority complex with respect to the US! lol. You need to take your little bitty 小弟弟, and go cry to your Mum that a US company won’t let you break their rules! Boo hoo”

Dear every one, Do you know what “小弟弟” means in Chinese Slang? here I translate it into English :”Penis”
Dear every one, Do you know what “肏你祖宗十八代” means in Chinese? Here I translate it into English: ” Fuck you 18 generations of your family”

Dear every one, please read this blog from the beginning, Did I commented detroit in a unfriendly way initially before he made the first insulting comment about me?

    detroit and etsycallout:

We are a registered company in China, We have registered business number, office address, contact number even my Chinese name in my website.
We are responsible for what We say and We do.
    But I have to ask:
    etsycallout, detroit,
Who are you? what is your identification? what is your true name?
Who autherized you to use “etsy”‘s name to publish blogs about etsy sellers?
Who give you rights to accuse etsy sellers?
Who give you rights to judge etsy sellers with your own “rules”
furthermore, do you have any certificates of distincting ” true handmade items” from ” fake handmade items” issued by any official or folk institutes in US or in any other countries?

Esty’s statement do testify that “estycallout” has nothing do with esty company and etsy website, nevertheless, etsy also apologized to us for your harrassment caused to us .

Etsy closed our store as we requested today, We abide by Etsy’s rules, no matter whether it’s decision is correct or wrong.
    We respected etsy’s decision.

    November 21, 2010 at 12:22 am

    but for you guys,
    detroit and etsycallout,
I am sure You are illegal!
If you are legal, why don’t you guys don’t publish your names, identifications? why only use your anonymous web names?

Why don’t guys make statements on your blog like this:”
We are XXX and XXX, this is a personal blog, which has nothing to do with etsy website and etsy company, We we publish is our personal comments, We are not liable for liability of infringement of laws and privacy, We are not responsible for any insulting and harrassments to anybody!”

    170 | Thomas
    November 21, 2010 at 12:36 am

    Dear all,
So, If you etsycallout guys can’t testify you are not illegal.
You guys not only infringes Etsy’s intellectual property rights by ” use “Etsy” word on your “Etsycallout ” blog, You guys also infringes other sellers’s privacy and rights.
Besides, Did any customers authorized you guys to make gossips on any sellers? No.

    My conclusion:
Neither Etsy, nor any official insistitues, nor any customers authrozied you to do this illegal gossip job,
So, What you guys are doing now is doing evil and committing crimes!
    Did you guys realized it?

I can bet someday, if you guys publish your identifications, Etsy company, any honest seller sure will sue you guys on US courts and get you guys punlished by US laws to get justice for the Etsy users both sellers and buyers.

    171 | Thomas
    November 21, 2010 at 12:53 am

    Dear all,
I am wondering why etsycallout guys are so angry about us and other sellers on etsy and make rumours around.
Here is my answer after considerable thinking and investigation:
    1. these etsycallout guys are the true resellers and sellers of fake handmade items on etsy. I read many of their comments on their blogs, they are also etsy sellers. they are in US.
So, why they are so afraid of sellers in China and other countries out of China?
    as everyone knows:
handmade items or vintage items made in China and other developing countries are much cheaper than in US, actually now nowadays, there are very few handmade items and vintage items are made in US, because of very high cost of human labor.

So these guys purchased many items on Alibaba and Tao and other websites, which are made in China, and then list them on etsy to cheat customers they handmade those items.

But the true makers of the those items find this way to sell they items on etsy. and flood in to sell their own handmade items.

So, this becomes the disaster and nighmares of these etsycallout guys, because direct sellers in China and other countries compete direclty with these etsycallout guys, these etsycallout guys will surely be defeated, and lose their business.
So they find wordpress, this free and anonymous blog to attack the real sellers on etsy. at the same time, in case that they will be caught and prosecuted by laws for their crimes, they hide their names and identifications.

    172 | Thomas
    November 21, 2010 at 1:14 am

    detroit:
You bitch cheater, criminal, real reseller,
why you are so angry with me?
Why you don’t dare to use English to insult me, instead using ” Chinese”?

    Now I found reasons:
    1. You surely are a Chinese American , if you are an American citizen, You probably are one of Stowaways without Ameican ID.
So you even know the worst slang of cursing in Chinese.

    2. You puchased huge lots of items in Alibaba and Taobao and sell them on etsy, So you are very familar with items on those websites, once a true sellers comes on etsy, you found them and start to blogging , commenting and cursing them.

    3. if you are such a Amerian with your Ancestor in China, I am sure every Chinese will whip you this stupid pig, and every Good Chinese man feel shamed of you.

4.Besides you, there are some other active etsycallout guys seems to be Chinese origin.

Why you guys don’t feel shamed what you are doing now?
Why We can’t call you guys criminals and bitches after you shit guys insulted me, even we initially are very polite to you?

    5. The last words, I give you these guys:

Get fuck off Etsy and your damned Etsycallout!!!! don’t destroy Chinese’s reputation and etsy’s reputation !!
otherwise, every honest and brave Chinese and American will fuck you off!!!

I only found this page when I googled Lwangslife because I bought the most amazing dress in the highest quality from this shop and was/am totally in love with it. I wish they were still around because I was 100% satisfied and would like to buy more from them. I don’t care if the guy has sixty etsys he does great work for a good price in quality fabrics.

  46. Darby August 10, 2013 at 12:04 pm #

Totally totally bummed that lwangslife is not around any more.
I bought my most favorite dress I have ever owned in my life from them.
They were perfect retailers, serivce great, fast shipping, highest quality product.
Sadly now the dress is a few years old and since I wear it nearly everyday it is time for a new one but I can’t buy it because of people suck!

The company is legit, the product was ledgit.
