No suprises here. I am seeing more resellers from this area, Turkey and Israel.

  2. losinghope November 15, 2010 at 9:52 am #

Those plastic body suits aren’t for the menopausal. They’d have to be cut out of it when a hot flash hits! And the mask…what’s that all about? Definitely resellers.

    I flagged!

    Good catch,
I have never seen either of these shops… apparently they have opened just this month.

I cannot believe that Etsy doesn’t have ANYONE to look over new shops! Just one flipping minute per new shop. That would be 60 shops an hour – are there more new shops than that per hour opening? Well if so then hire TWO people to go over them… It isn’t like Etsy can’t AFFORD to do it.

I am sure they could even hire VOLUNTEERS to donate an hour or two of their time to go over recently added shops – and hand over a list to Etsy to further look into.

I am begining to believe the folks running Etsy have no brains.

Tineye search on jackets shows them sold in lots of places. Guess their little handmade family group must really be prolific!

There was just a question about Rob Kalin on Jeopardy. Almost lost my dinner.

  7. JK November 15, 2010 at 4:39 pm #

Sick of cupcakes — Was the question ‘Who is too busy trying to emulate that dude from Facebook to properly run his own business?’

  8. WangFu November 15, 2010 at 5:21 pm #

It doesn’t take long in Pounce to spot a few.

  9. Life During Wartime November 15, 2010 at 5:41 pm #

Here’s one from Pounce, one of the first 10 shops that came up:

If you read their policies, they plan to sell shoes as well as clothing. They say they design the stuff, but nothing about who makes the items. Items in photos show fold marks.

    So easy to find.

  10. sick of cupcakes November 15, 2010 at 6:32 pm #

JK the question was “Who is the biggest bag of hipster douche on the internet?”.

  11. JK November 15, 2010 at 6:40 pm #

Now, in all fairness I would have to give that one to the Facebook dude. If they’d added ‘irritating’ into the mix, we’d have a winner!

  12. Thud November 15, 2010 at 8:36 pm #

This shop claims to make their molds….
so does this shop sell the molds from the first one? The molds are identical…

  13. Thud November 15, 2010 at 8:41 pm #

Oh my, dig a little deeper and the whole seedy mouldy mold underbelly shows… search flexible mold

Did any of you see this thread?

This could put a serious crimp in reseller activity from overseas sellers if it is for real.

  15. Cat Power November 16, 2010 at 12:37 am #

jenjasmine…I would imagine that most of the reseller goods come by cargo ship, which would not be affected…but I could be wrong.

Wish it might put a crimp in their businesses, but I’m sure they will find a way around any restrictions that might cause them to lose the almighty dollar!

  16. jenjasmine November 16, 2010 at 1:12 am #

Yes, Cat, I think, sadly, that you are right. It will probably only hurt the real overseas handmade people, and not the “collectives”. 😦

  17. Sara November 16, 2010 at 5:43 am #

Just found this one today. User resells commercial jewelry, even tags the items as being store bought commercial items.

    Take a look: – Hang tag says H&M – MONET – Forever21 – Forever21

    JK, in response to #7:
I was just thinking that yesterday when I was listening to something about Facebook on NPR! It just suddenly occured to me that he wanted to be as hot and popular as the Facebook guy who had a movie made about him. Funny.
I was also thinking about something I read a long time ago when etsy was only a year or two old. I found the link to this article on another site so I couldn’t even begin to pinpoint where I saw it. A woman who is a major player in, I think, the craft magazine world was undertaking a project to set up an online venue that was slick and hip to sell handmade goods at. She stated that she didn’t have the tech savvy or interest in it so she found Rob and another guy and passed the task on to them. And if I remember correctly she even had the details of this idea already formulated somewhat, so in a nutshell he can’t really even take the credit for etsy being his brainchild because it wasn’t.

Gotta love this… “new, not authentic”

  20. Tamas Adanyi November 17, 2010 at 5:44 am #

Thank you for your quick response to our newly opened etsy shop. I want to reassure everyone we are NOT reseller. Me and my wife design every items in our webshop and she sews all the clothes by handmade with her seven industrial sewing machine.

My wife has more than ten years’ experience in sewing and we’ve opened our webshop 3 years ago. We sell products in Europe and overseas too. We import all the vinyl fabrics – what you can find in the webshop – from EU.

If you really doubts that we are resellers, please check out the gallery of custom made clothes in our hungarian webpage.

    Thank you for your attention

This tread cracked me up so much last night:

  22. megansbeadeddesigns November 17, 2010 at 8:45 am #

    **thread (sorry!)

  23. WangFu November 17, 2010 at 8:57 am #

Why does your wife need seven industrial sewing machines?

  24. um no November 17, 2010 at 9:24 am #

megansbeadeddesigns, I saw the thread. I hate resellers as much as the next guy, but I was appalled at the way she was treated. Karma’s gonna be a bitch for a couple of those sellers.

  25. Tamas November 17, 2010 at 9:35 am #

    WangFu in response to #22:

Due to different fabrics and workflow. But we would need more…
If you know the manufacturing process, then you know that you have a separate machine for each process.

  26. megansbeadeddesigns November 17, 2010 at 9:47 am #

I have a sewing machine I bought at a thrift store for $10. Works fine for meeeeee. 😛 lol

  27. Catish November 17, 2010 at 9:52 am #

Well I know of four different sewing machines you might need, and one of them is specialized as hell… Mostly you just need to change the needle…

  28. WangFu November 17, 2010 at 12:30 pm #

Yeah, I have one machine and I just change the needle.

    Sorry, ain’t buying it.

  29. BlowinChunks November 17, 2010 at 4:53 pm #

One sewing machine for each person – as it slowly moves down the human assembly line…

  30. b unit November 17, 2010 at 6:55 pm #

actually, if you’re doing production sewing, you’ll need more than one machine: a walking foot machine, an overlocker, maybe a binder, one set up for zippers, a coverstitch machine, one set up with an elastic foot, buttonholer. I know home sewers who have several machines (serger, coverstitch, straight stitch) just for personal use.

I tend to believe him becuase there’s no sob story given in his response, just the facts and a link to their website which has pics.

  31. losinghope November 18, 2010 at 3:55 am #

It’s still an awful amount of complicated product for one person to make.

    Tamas Adanyi:

    You did a great job!!
Don’t need to explain anything to those Etsy bitches.
    Simply fuck them!
I am wondering why Etsy hire those bitches who knows nothing about handmade, and only judge by their pig heads that any good etsy seller.
You are in another country. How do those etsy bitches and dogs know you not handmade good items, while you are working hard to handmaking great items for your customers and fans.
those etsy bitches’s accusation is against US law, because they don’t have any evidence to testify their accusation. and simply judge by their stupid mind.

  33. Thomas November 18, 2010 at 11:18 am #

these bitches didn’t and cann’t answer my questions with reasonable arguements on their shit blog about our etsy listings, then come here to blahblah another foreign good seller.

    My conclution:
Etsy is running by American. they are the king of the etsy sellers in other country. they simply rape any good sellers abroad without confirmed evidence, only by “wondering” ” bet”
website links, etc, it is not true evidence can used legally to accuse a good seller. it is against US laws.

  34. PussDaddy November 18, 2010 at 11:28 am #

I put some of that dreadlock stuff in a treasury once. I wonder if it is all reseller crap or if any of it is really handmace?

  35. SewGal November 18, 2010 at 5:50 pm #

Wow – nutjob up there doesn’t even deserve a response…

    but … about amazona
I do have to say that I sew a lot… and have many machines mainly because I don’t have the time to switch threads, needles, etc. when I am on a roll, so i get it. and if you really busted butt you could produce a ton of crap in a day with just two people.

Well Thomas, are all Chinese as professional, courteous, and as intelligent as you? If so, your country is in trouble.

Seems like you have an inferiority complex with respect to the US! lol. You need to take your little bitty 小弟弟, and go cry to your Mum that a US company won’t let you break their rules! Boo hoo”

Dear every one, Do you know what “小弟弟” means in Chinese Slang? here I translate it into English :”Penis”
Dear every one, Do you know what “肏你祖宗十八代” means in Chinese? Here I translate it into English: ” Fuck you 18 generations of your family”

Dear every one, please read this blog from the beginning, Did I commented detroit in a unfriendly way initially before he made the first insulting comment about me?

    detroit and etsycallout:

We are a registered company in China, We have registered business number, office address, contact number even my Chinese name in my website.
We are responsible for what We say and We do.
    But I have to ask:
    etsycallout, detroit,
Who are you? what is your identification? what is your true name?
Who autherized you to use “etsy”‘s name to publish blogs about etsy sellers?
Who give you rights to accuse etsy sellers?
Who give you rights to judge etsy sellers with your own “rules”
furthermore, do you have any certificates of distincting ” true handmade items” from ” fake handmade items” issued by any official or folk institutes in US or in any other countries?

Esty’s statement do testify that “estycallout” has nothing do with esty company and etsy website, nevertheless, etsy also apologized to us for your harrassment caused to us .

Etsy closed our store as we requested today, We abide by Etsy’s rules, no matter whether it’s decision is correct or wrong.
    We respected etsy’s decision.

    but for you guys,
    detroit and etsycallout,
I am sure You are illegal!
If you are legal, why don’t you guys don’t publish your names, identifications? why only use your anonymous web names?

Why don’t guys make statements on your blog like this:”
We are XXX and XXX, this is a personal blog, which has nothing to do with etsy website and etsy company, We we publish is our personal comments, We are not liable for liability of infringement of laws and privacy, We are not responsible for any insulting and harrassments to anybody!”

    November 21, 2010 at 12:36 am

    Dear all,
So, If you etsycallout guys can’t testify you are not illegal.
You guys not only infringes Etsy’s intellectual property rights by ” use “Etsy” word on your “Etsycallout ” blog, You guys also infringes other sellers’s privacy and rights.
Besides, Did any customers authorized you guys to make gossips on any sellers? No.

    My conclusion:
Neither Etsy, nor any official insistitues, nor any customers authrozied you to do this illegal gossip job,
So, What you guys are doing now is doing evil and committing crimes!
    Did you guys realized it?

I can bet someday, if you guys publish your identifications, Etsy company, any honest seller sure will sue you guys on US courts and get you guys punlished by US laws to get justice for the Etsy users both sellers and buyers.

    November 21, 2010 at 12:53 am

    Dear all,
I am wondering why etsycallout guys are so angry about us and other sellers on etsy and make rumours around.
Here is my answer after considerable thinking and investigation:
    1. these etsycallout guys are the true resellers and sellers of fake handmade items on etsy. I read many of their comments on their blogs, they are also etsy sellers. they are in US.
So, why they are so afraid of sellers in China and other countries out of China?
    as everyone knows:
handmade items or vintage items made in China and other developing countries are much cheaper than in US, actually now nowadays, there are very few handmade items and vintage items are made in US, because of very high cost of human labor.

So these guys purchased many items on Alibaba and Tao and other websites, which are made in China, and then list them on etsy to cheat customers they handmade those items.

But the true makers of the those items find this way to sell they items on etsy. and flood in to sell their own handmade items.

So, this becomes the disaster and nighmares of these etsycallout guys, because direct sellers in China and other countries compete direclty with these etsycallout guys, these etsycallout guys will surely be defeated, and lose their business.
So they find wordpress, this free and anonymous blog to attack the real sellers on etsy. at the same time, in case that they will be caught and prosecuted by laws for their crimes, they hide their names and identifications.

    November 21, 2010 at 1:14 am

You bitch cheater, criminal, real reseller,
why you are so angry with me?
Why you don’t dare to use English to insult me, instead using ” Chinese”?

    Now I found reasons:
    1. You surely are a Chinese American , if you are an American citizen, You probably are one of Stowaways without Ameican ID.
So you even know the worst slang of cursing in Chinese.

    2. You puchased huge lots of items in Alibaba and Taobao and sell them on etsy, So you are very familar with items on those websites, once a true sellers comes on etsy, you found them and start to blogging , commenting and cursing them.

    3. if you are such a Amerian with your Ancestor in China, I am sure every Chinese will whip you this stupid pig, and every Good Chinese man feel shamed of you.

4.Besides you, there are some other active etsycallout guys seems to be Chinese origin.

Why you guys don’t feel shamed what you are doing now?
Why We can’t call you guys criminals and bitches after you shit guys insulted me, even we initially are very polite to you?

    5. The last words, I give you these guys:

Get fuck off Etsy and your damned Etsycallout!!!! don’t destroy Chinese’s reputation and etsy’s reputation !!
otherwise, every honest and brave Chinese and American will fuck you off!!!
