Compare & Save, fairysomnia

Fairysomnia “Elena Romanova”

has the same (almost) bio as this seller: GreenOptimist Except that seller is listed as a “Juri Romanov” so it could be her husband, right? Except… why the strange spelling of the last name and why are there purchases from the second account to the first? Also most of the purchases from both accounts (GO and Fairysomnia) are from the same buyer…check feedback…literally almost all are from a “chechi72”

The fairysomnia has a blog listed on her profile which lists shows she has been in:

2009 “Contemporary Watercolors,” The Harrison Gallery, Williamstown, MA
2007 “Solstice,” David Floria Gallery, Aspen, CO
2006 “Sliding Scales,” Winston Wächter Fine Art, New York, NY
“Black + White,” Nathan A. Bernstein & Co., Ltd., New York, NY

The problems are: the 2009 show does not include her, and neither do any of the any other galleries she claims. (as you can see the last two were private shows and not even group exhibitions as she listed)

I was seconds away from buying something from this person before I checked the feedback, and am glad I did! I don’t know what is going on…but something definitely is. I certainly thought it was odd to see “full-time professional artist living in Europe, between – Russia,United Kingdom and Bulgaria.” and now the Juri version is adding in NY and Montreal. Lucky lucky them…right? Shady shady them is more like it.

How sneaky! Obviously trying to get the feedback up so they get trust from the customer. Well spotted!

For the record- Romanov would be the correct spelling/pronunciation of the male version of the name in Russian; Romanova is the female version. So the issue about the last names is moot.

Gotta love the hand-assembled with super jacked-up prices. Funny thing is, that’s the shit that sells.

Looks like fairysomnia discovered people noticed the dual sites, as she has now changed her profile to list not just the GreenOptimist, but has added in a 3rd-

If you again, check feedback- all 3 have 90% purchased either by one of the other accounts, or by a singular third party that only purchases from them, and NO ONE else on etsy. So essentially the wife buys from the husband and then thanks him in the feeback for the great wrapping job he did and the shipping…to where? The livingroom?

By the time that real buyers are seeing these three accounts it looks like people are happy with their purchases, and the art may be fine, it just sucks to fluff up the numbers and “fake it until you make it” while other people do it the right and decent and HONEST way and won’t have the sales numbers in the first two months after signing up that this woman (or people?) (not sure which it is really) will have because of their sneaky ways. They aren’t earning this the right way.

I am so sick and tired of artists with no integrity. Yes, waiting for the first sale is hard, but are people only after the money now? Isn’t there pride in the work anymore? The thought of someone hanging your work in their home to enjoy doesn’t mean anything to these people? I wish we could strip them of their degrees in art- because the way I always believed art was, was something that lived inside of you. It isn’t like getting a degree in LIVES inside of you…I hope someone gets what I’m trying to say. I grew up in an artists community and we had summer festivals and people came from all over the state- from out of state, even farther to be a part of it. I have SEEN true artist community and true artists don’t do things like this. It makes me sick.

These people may be able to put pen to paper, or sew a straight line, throw a bowl, or knit without dropping a stitch…but they aren’t artists to me, aren’t artisans to me. The only time they even get to partially claim that title is if you include the prefix they’ve earned. I’ll give them that.

    Con- artists.

Well, at least it is easy to prove that she’s shilling now.

    Amen, amen, amen!

I think that this shop: is just reselling dresses that they’re unable to sell at their B&M store. This dress, for instance: is on alibaba:

    Their profile says:

I just opened my store in Philadelphia, PA.
I currently have 50-70 bridal gowns in stock, 35 designer prom dresses, 25 designer cocktail dresses, and 15 bridesmaid gowns.

I have my private label gowns and carry sample gowns from designers.

Designers I am currently carrying are Reem Acra, Pronovias, Priscilla of Boston, Pronovias, Tony Bowls, Aire by Barcelona, Justin Alexander, Monique Lhullier, and Casablanca.

Please make sure to let me know your measurements before ordering from me so that I know the gown will fit you.

    shoulder to floor length
    upper bust circumference
full bust circumference (not your bra size)
    under bust circumference

The gowns I have online I carry at the store and you will receive anything you purchase within 3 days.

About the Romanov affair – I totally agree with Inhie.
But these people are not artists, not even con- artists. None of them has the degrees they claim. And the rest is lies too. They are total scam. Believe me I know very well. The only mystery is where they get the nice paintings…

  11. Mr Bastard May 14, 2012 at 9:56 am #

These 2 artists look incredibly similar…. Heres Ashley Percival, a trained artist, who spent time and money learning his trade and is featured on the creatives inc facebook page

Oh and then this person wanted to be featured:…ooooh what was his name again…that right its Juri Romanov…back with a new style…or is it Elena? Not sure…and is it Bulgaria, or Russia or a little town called Ripoll in Catalonia…?

Creatives Inc declined his kind offer. But will be keeping an eye on him. They tracked a shed load of info on him…people get cocky, they leave behind big footprints.

Well…there you go. Im saying nothing…but Ive never come across someone so committed to creating so many websites, so many twitter sites, etsy sites…

  12. Mr Bastard May 14, 2012 at 10:45 am #

Oh And I forgot, it may not even be Juri Romanov…could be Phillip Krassini, or maybe…lets see…Mihail Sevdiev using the email….dig dig dig…where will we ever end up?

  13. Mr Bastard May 17, 2012 at 3:02 am #

And also associated with the name phillip phillp who also owns about 57 other domain names…… …theres even a phone number if you feel inclined to give him a bell…

Same old images again and again …

  16. Stephanie February 4, 2014 at 5:44 pm #

Ok, this is so bizarre but I have to comment. Years ago… like… almost 4 years ago, I bought an 11×14 print of one of the paintings from fairysomnia on Etsy for $30. At that time, there were only Old City images- like town squares or canals. It came slightly damaged and they actually offered to send me another one, free of charge, even a different print. I decided to get another of the same print, so that’s what they sent me, no problems. Just went looking for the Etsy site because I was looking at the print that still hangs in my living room and wondering what else she had done and found that the Etsy profile no longer exists and then googled and found this post. So weird! I remember when the cityscapes were added, followed by the girl with umbrella and hot air balloons, and then maybe a year later the dog and other animal prints were added. So odd that there are multiple profiles with different stories. Now I am SO curious as to what the actual story is!
