This Etsy seller deserves a call-out!
Look at the following items:

These are all blatant copies of my work (the octopus pendant appears to be a photo of one that she re-made from my design, but the others are pictures of my actual product!)

She also appears to selling designs made by a number of other Etsy sellers that I am attempting to figure out.  I know I’ve seen some of those designs before.  Just blatant ripping off!

    did you email esty?
What a crappy person to copy your pics those take time and are hard work!
I hope they close that shop!

I reported that shop as well, sorry this is happening

There is nothing on the policy page or profile page. For me, if this info is not there, I don’t buy from them. Etsy should require this before starting up a shop.

The house is this seller. I know because I bought his sterling house and tree ring

  5. PussDaddy March 15, 2011 at 10:17 am #

Bumpy stuff might be this seller

  6. PussDaddy March 15, 2011 at 10:55 am #

Weird. The house ring in her shop I said might possibly be a seller’s is now gone.

And that is the straw that broke the camels back.

Reported – that is a blatant copy.

Was jewelryjojo going to buy from the legit, creative sellers like marmar and sell those pieces, or was she a take-the-money-and-run kinda fraudster?

Hopefully etsy will take this shop down, there’s no question that she’s a fraud.

    Talk about FEE AVOIDANCE…
This whole shops is 20 cents plus almost 8 bucks shipping.
“with another item” shipping is like $6!

  10. jewellicious March 15, 2011 at 3:32 pm #

And how is THIS shop NOT a reseller? She REALLY makes those gemstone rings for 95 cents?

Angel – I am absolutely dumbstruck. That very last paragraph? The update? UNBELIEVABLE. After months of bitching in the forums, so many people telling them exactly what would happen, they go and do it anyway, it all happens as we were afraid of… then THIS? They fixed it. Set it all to private by default. How stupid are these people?? I mean, really? As if they weren’t warned and couldn’t see what was coming. It’s as if they were being willfully stupid just for the sake of conducting some experiment, and no matter if it leads to the company’s demise.

Sammy – The damage is already done. Now all I have to do is search my username on Google and it brings up all the information I’ve since set to private and removed from my profile. Not only that, it brings up custom orders people had listed for me over the years. Needless to say, I’m less than fucking thrilled at the “We’re totally going to fix it, no worries” response.

Call me crazy, but I have some expectation of privacy when I’m making purchases online, especially when I haven’t been given any indication that serious changes are being made to said privacy. One that would put all my private contact information, along with my purchasing history, available to anyone who searched my username, email address, name, etc.

And this bullshit about people not using their real names? No. They DON’T make it clear that names are optional. I spent a fucking month trying to get mine removed from an account I opened while considering opening a shop there.

I’m fucking livid. And I actually filed a formal government complaint about it (since I happen to live in a country with very strict laws about what online companies can do with data like that). I have no problem giving Etsy the finger at this point, and I hope they wind up having to spend ages dealing with various international governments trying to sort out their shit in order to comply with PRETTY FUCKING STANDARD PRIVACY LAWS.

A very stupid reseller. They say they’re reselling and the logo in the picture is from a large body art website.

I’ve always loved handmade ceiling fans, like this one:

I hope etsy crashes and burns into oblivion, I really do.

  16. megansbeadeddesigns March 16, 2011 at 2:42 pm #

LOL – I’m sure that the ceiling fan was handmade with LOVE.

  17. mrpouncy March 16, 2011 at 4:05 pm #

The thread for ceiling fan guy was both hilarious and infuriating – and was of course shut down by admin for calling out. Huh? He called himself out. AND HIS SHOP IS STILL OPEN. I’m so friggin upsetsy right now.

  18. mrpouncy March 16, 2011 at 4:12 pm #

Sorry to keep beating a dead ceiling fan here, but I cannot believe that admin actually came into that thread, wherein people were pointing out that this guy has a friggin new digital camera for sale, amongst other garage sale crap, and all they did was say “don’t call out.” A utter slap in the face. I’m completely stunned.

  19. Mathy March 16, 2011 at 7:22 pm #

    I can’t believe that.

Well, whatever gets them sales I guess.

  20. it stinks March 17, 2011 at 6:30 am #

I have flagged, flagged, flagged ceiling fan man but I have zero confidence that etsy will remove anything.
I think they actually HATE all the handmade sellers.

Yeah, it often seems like Etsy hates handmade sellers. And vintage sellers as well.

For some reason I have yet to figure out, it seems Etsy admin loves ‘vintage’ listings for impossible to date import wares, like the stuff TriballyInspired has for sale. Or some of the goods still in the ceiling fan guy’s shop. Most of Etsy’s fave vintage sellers have Asian import wares in their shops (mostly brass items, but other stuff, too), and from a photo there really is no way to tell the difference between SMC-style junque and stuff really old enough to be vintage.

I think Etsy likes thrift store newish import ware because the lines are very blurred among handmade-vintage-reseller with these things…which is the image Etsy has been steadily moving towards. List the items anywhere on the site, could be made by anyone, anywhere, at any time.

I have to admit, self-callout threads make me smile. ☺

    Le Tresor Cache

This seller must know what she’s doing. Shop is full of mass-produced vintage-look items but she’s not calling or tagging anything vintage. . . .well they’re certainly not handmade:

This looks like BlessedinMaine’s clock! Could it be??
