Nice fake LV handbag they’ve got here. Even if it were real it still wouldn’t be vintage because the Cherry Blossom line came out in 2002.

Reported this item, and the entire shop, yesterday. Every single maybe/maybe not vintage item in this shop is listed under handmade.

  2. Yaya May 14, 2011 at 5:25 pm #

There is nothing in that shop that is vintage.

  3. susan May 14, 2011 at 6:48 pm #

I’m guessing she’s selling her own clothes at the Etsy garage sale.

  4. PussDaddy May 14, 2011 at 7:52 pm #

I think even the real ones are hideous.

  5. you suck May 15, 2011 at 11:17 am #

lame. this bag should be called out if only for being hideous.

More abuse of Vintage top level category, on the FP:

If hanging a manufactured (vintage or new) charm on a manufactured (vintage or new) chain = a handmade or hand-assembled item on Etsy, then wrapping twine and hanging a tag (crookedly, too, I might add — don’t they know how to make a proper fiber loop?) on a used bottle = hand-assembled…something or other. The shop is peppered with altered items listed as vintage. Called out before, on Garagetsy, and still a category abuser.

    Aaaaand it’s sold.

  8. Fake May 15, 2011 at 1:41 pm #

Wow the person that just bought that wine carafe with the tag on it got taken for a ride. I wish I could find people so willing to buy my CRAP. You can get those wine carafes at the dollar store.

Would someone do a “call-out” post for Etsy Admin?
Since they can’t stop inappropriate “intangible” listings, and are mighty sick and tired of us “call-outers” sending them multiple reports a day, they have removed the “listing is not an item available for purchase.” option from the Report A Shop link!

Take a look at this blog:

It’s basically paid advertising for a treasury you create. $15 for 1 week, up to $55 for 1 month. (And by the looks of it, the place doesn’t have many followers or much traffic.) I don’t guess this is breaking any of Etsy’s rules and it’s not as shady as the people who were selling spots to be featured in treasuries. But something about it still seems really low to me. More gaming the flawed system and trying to cash in on it.

If I were this desperate to get someone to view my treasury I would just create my own blog and advertise myself for free.

  11. Trista May 15, 2011 at 2:34 pm #

Please ignore my comments above! I misunderstood how the blog worked. I clicked on the “Want to be become a featured seller” link where you have to pay, and I thought that was how to get your treasury featured. But over in the corner (where I couldn’t even see it) there is a link to submit a treasury (for free). So you’re not actually paying to have your treasury posted there, you only have to pay to advertise your shop there. My apologies!!

I can’t believe this is on the front page right now. Titled “2 New Bamboo Directors Chairs” with original mass-produced tags listed as “supplies”. So now we can sell new furniture if we list it as “supplies”. Good to know.

  13. EtsyVigilante May 15, 2011 at 3:38 pm #

Oops, forgot the link. Here ya go

  14. Life During Wartime May 15, 2011 at 4:44 pm #

WJW, EtsyVigilante! 2 brand new ‘eco’ chairs listed as supplies? In the Etsy FP treasury this evening.

I guess we all know how well the new listing process (now available to a limited number of shops) will keep new items not made by the seller (and which are NOT art or crafting supplies) off of the site.

  15. sickofetsy May 15, 2011 at 5:51 pm #

A chair is a supply because you have to sit your greedy fat ass on something while you tie twine to a dollar store bottle.

Check this out – raceytay has the first and 4th spot on this FP Treasury that went up CST 10:00 tonite!!!!

WOW – too bad there aren’t any other T’s to choose from, guess we just have to give her 2 spots!!!!

The new flagging system is such crap. Anyone else notice how after you flag and hit the back button, it takes you back to the item you just flagged, at the earlier stage before you’d flagged it? Just stupid and annoying. Plus, that giant pop up window obscures the description now and makes it harder to quote from it or refer back to the details. All around, they made it a lot more annoying to flag. My money’s on this being a deliberate change calculated to decrease flagging. Damn, it must be so annoying for them to have to do their job.
Another thing worth pointing out: if you flag a shop, you have to scroll back up to get to the window. Otherwise, like me, you will think flagging a shop is broken. Nope, you just have to hunt for the window. Another annoying feature probably designed to confuse people and decrease flagging.

  18. Life During Wartime May 15, 2011 at 8:21 pm #

I saw comments in the forums about the new flagging process, under Bugs…so that kinda says it all.

  19. Trista May 16, 2011 at 6:52 am #

oneangrybird – I saw that last night and just rolled my eyes. At this point, I’m convinced she knows someone who works at Etsy and they’re deliberately giving her tons of FP promotion.

Just try to find one other seller who has been featured on the FP 302 times in the past 5 and a half months. There are no others, as far as I know. It’s very obvious that she’s deliberately being featured this many times. There’s no way 7 FP features in 1 day is coincidence. Even if it were based on the amount of treasuries she’s being featured in, there would be at least a couple of other people with similar numbers. Even the people on the same teams as her don’t get *that* kind of FP exposure.

  20. Trista May 16, 2011 at 6:55 am #

I think the new tagging system is just Etsy trying to look like they’re taking the flags seriously – like they’re actually working on it. We all know they’re not going to respond to them any more now than they always have.

  21. WL May 16, 2011 at 9:09 am #

She gets featured so much because she is on a crazy number of teams – and a tag abuser – and a bully. She also renews every hour so folks are spammed by her listings.

  22. Trista May 16, 2011 at 9:21 am #

I always hear that she’s on lots of teams, but I’m not sure how many people consider to be a lot. She’s on 12:
I’m probably on about the same number myself, though I’m only really active on about 5 or so.

  23. WL May 16, 2011 at 9:24 am #

she recently scaled back. it was much more. her treasuries all look the same, same items in many. easy to make them quick. she is a user and abuser.

  24. cynicallyopenminded May 16, 2011 at 11:25 am #

    I flagged that tacky bag.

As for the FP…I personally won’t buy from those sellers. I will go find someone who isn’t a featured favorite and purchase from them.

  25. cynicallyopenminded May 16, 2011 at 11:27 am #

so that bag sold…but you can get more here:

    The Tiffonator.

  26. Kick The Can May 16, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

LOL @ “Tiffinator”. Is that what Ahnold is doing now that he’s through with governing California? Selling bags on the internet?

  27. stinkypants May 16, 2011 at 2:53 pm #

A baby reseller just starting out. Found them mewling in my circle request box.

  28. Jael May 17, 2011 at 6:02 am #

The reseller above has this listing:

which has this website still on the listing photo: sort of covered by ST STEEL

AND a “watermark” that says 925 silver. Really?

  29. oneangrybird May 17, 2011 at 6:13 am #

    Flagged the baby…
    – “mewling in my circle request box” – nice description!

    what a bunch of junk!

  30. oneangrybird May 17, 2011 at 6:18 am #

The “tiffanator” has just got to be Arnold’s recently acknowledged “love child” with the houseworker!

    How proud he must be!

  31. DaBot May 17, 2011 at 7:41 am #

Why are so many Etsy customers so STOOPID? this is a rhetorical question: Etsy draws the stupid.

  32. cynicallyopenminded May 18, 2011 at 1:09 pm #

asim2011 is gone. I flagged the whole damn shop and provided the links that went to alibaba and some other site. However, the broken $40 alarm clock is still there. Pathetic.
