Reported above clothing reseller. Here’s another faux vintage seller wilshepherd: Claims this item “isn’t antique” but tags it as vintage when I think they know full well it’s either from Michael’s or Homegoods.

Jeez! Did you read her drippy profile?

sorry – here’s link to above faux vintage http://www.etsy.com/listing/75595134/chippy-white-steel-candle-holderplanter

Actually unlimitstyle has two shops. This is the other one:

WJW selling Korean made clothing shipped from China.

Must be few dude things on Etsy for the FP. Otherwise, how can a stuffed toy robot get so much play.

  6. Life During Wartime June 12, 2011 at 10:03 am #

Stinky, there are thousands of listings on Etsy that aren’t gender specific, a lot of Art and Arty Decor. My late husband used to love looking at Etsy in its early years when he felt well enough to use the computer because of the great art pottery, art glass, wall sculpture, and stuff that regularly appeared on the FP. The kind of items he would have purchased for himself, or been delighted to receive as a gift. There’s more to being a dude than shaving, sports, and electronic toys.

    Fauxtique on the Etsy FP:

The item title says the item was made by the seller:

‘Vintage old stock brand name DAVIDOff woodgrain handmade plastic frame teal color 50s style’

    Confirmed by the description:

‘with blue grey shade brand new lenses’

Davidoff is a contemporary eyewear brand.

Here are the tags, with lottsa BS:

vintage accessories eyewear women retro mod german 1950s designer collectable wayfarer diner cat eye chic’

Whoever vetted this treasury for the FP wears the big arsed duncecap, and the junior dunce cap goes to the curator, LaBestia, for showing Big Love to resellers (continued next comment).

Here is the FP Treasury by LaBestia:

Check out the ‘vintage’ earrings in position 4, and visit the shop MyChouChou for lots of newish jewelry listed as ‘vintage’. I smell eau de reseller.

Fauxtique in today’s Get the Look Decor feature:

Vintage items newly painted over by the seller are hand-altered and not in original condition. Category violation.

“I also long for touch different fields of art: fashion design, Fint art, jewelry design, Advertising design & computer art design(web), Art Aesthetics and so on. I studied them in the university and get master degree at last. This is me, didfferent with other artist. Why? Becasue I insist didfferent art spirit & art exploration!

My mind leads to My shop’s all.” And so on, whatchamacallit, all that jazz, whatever, stuff.

And another fauxtique from Get the Look:

    Description says:

‘This lovely vintage French Provincial Mirror has been refinished in a soft cottage white with the perfect amount of distressing to give it that gently worn through time feel to accent your romantic cottage/Shabby Chic home.’

Handaltered, not in original condition, category violation. The shop selling the mirror, ShabbyChicFairytale, is packed with category violations like this one. The materials lists for these items, like this one for the mirror, make it clear that their proper place is in a handmade category:

paper tape primer sand paper paint sprayer roller brush razor blade windex rag’

Note no mention of the mirror’s orignal materials like glass and wood. MaryMary gets the mega duncecap of the day!

    Oops, not Mary…Christine. Apologies!

  13. Life During Wartime June 12, 2011 at 1:37 pm #

Yet another fauxtique on the FP! This one used to be a vintage globe:

How is this vintage? Does the FP vetter-drone not see that this item has been altered to the point of losing its original purpose?

    Another duncecap for Madame!

More fauxtique fakery from the same Treasury:

I swear, there is a reseller born every minute on Etsy. This one just opened today:

Wonder if it will be around as long as this one.

Yeah, they have so many pairs of vintage sunglasses that they’re just giving them away with every order. Wish I had an endless supply of vintage sunglasses.

“Sunnies arrived really fast all the way to Australia from California. Pretty good quality for vintage sunglasses and they look great. Appreciate the bonus pair of wayfarers!! And excellent bubble wrap – should keep me entertained for some time 😛 May 11, 2011”

“So nerdy funky – these are fun and came with a freebie which was so unexpected. Fast shipping and great packaging. Mar 11, 2011”

“I ordered 1 pair, they sent 3. They were great! Mar 10, 2011”

“The family that I am working with dedicate their day soley to this fabulous embroidery work.”

Oh, you “work with” a “family” to wholesale embroidered shams? I seriously hate “collectives.”

  19. JK June 13, 2011 at 7:37 am #

As a collector of actual vintage eyewear, that ‘Vintage’Eyewear101 shop really pisses me off. It’s shops like that which have steered my impulse shopping away from Etsy.
