MIDS team are desperate, this is like seeing a mass produced dollhouse store sitting in our handmade category.
We began flagging the first day before any sales, we have provided links, the seller didn’t even pretend to be making things herself to begin with (example the china was made by Reutter in Germany)  – in fact even without links or any knowledge of the subject anyone can see she doesn’t make everything as some are so obviously mass produced items.
When the shop was empty after a couple of weeks we thought Etsy had at last acted but now it looks like they only told her to remove where she said the company and country of manufacturer so her items “look” handmade. Some items were re-located to supplies. As finished dollhouse items these are specifically named as not qualifying as supplies. Vintage marked items only means the style is vintage (common in the dollhouse hobby).
Its been there a month now and more annoying to everyone is that she is getting more sales than a handmade seller who is new. In fact more than most who have been there a long time.
Please can you help draw attention to this for us.? Thanks
Collectors recognise most of the items being offered for sale as regular mass produced or cheaply made in Thailand (plants, food etc.)
Some has been sourced and evidence supplied – it would take days to find it all. We did a selection of the different types of items as examples.
Bespaq hand-painted furniture is sold by Bespaq ready hand-painted, they are a manufacturer of a vast range of high quality furniture. This reseller stocks Bespaq.
Just a couple of examples on Etsy
One example of a web site selling Bespaq including some of their hand painted furniture.
Most of the porcelain is by Reutter, Germany – just one example

When those of us who really make our items spend a lot of time supplying evidence like this to Etsy we really expect more from them than being ignored – we have done all their work for them.
Maybe if you do a post Etsy might sit up and take some notice at last.

wasn’t this shop called out a week or so ago? now they’re running a raffle listing…

Yup, this seller was recently called out. Running raffles is against the rules for shops, but this is worse (?) since it’s being done under the authority of a Team.

Etsy has no idea what is happening with some of the Teams. They were so eager to push sellers into these little quasi-invisible groups, but now some of the teams have become platforms for TOU violations.

There is almost a need for a callout blog about Teams, unless ECO is willing to review team violations antics?

    About GinnysDollhouse…WTF?

We can’t know whether or not Etsy coached this seller into removing telltale disclosures about her items from the descriptions and/or moving items to the Supplies category.

The new listing format really does nothing to keep any manufactured item from being listed in Supplies because the seller can rationalize that the thing was used by some crafty person they know for a project.

This shop looks like it shouldn’t be on Etsy at all.

If ever there was an indisputable reseller its this one. It looks like walking into any ordinary high street dollhouse store, gradually its all being added, all the well known manufacturers’ items. The whole range from the quality Bespaq furniture to the cheap hand-made Asian plants that everywhere seems to sell.

Etsy must have said something because of the way the shop emptied and then the listings came back changed to tidy things up a bit.

It was flagged again by several people that I know of immediately it happened and its been plenty long enough for Etsy to do something.

Thank you for this thread – maybe eventually something will be done about these very obvious sellers of mass produced items.

The dollhouse shop is empty now (“coaching”??).

The raffle listing has been edited and now is listed for $399.

That was two exceptionally quick results. This blog works magic.

I wonder if they will both return.

My team are happy, some of them put a lot of effort into finding the links for proof. Its not easy to prove a dollhouse trader is a reseller as they usually also have handmade items in their stock – before I sold online I used to supply several B&M stores a web site and someone who did fairs.

If anyone wonders why it matters, a new collector buys on Etsy thinking its a special handmade item then sees it in a store later they will not trust anything to be handmade on Etsy again and give up buying there.

The only remaining evidence is in the sold items and I’m hoping it stays that way.

Maybe Admin read this blog? If so thanks from MIDS.

As a member of MIDS, I will add my thanks to the owners of this blog. We put a lot of effort into the items we actually create. It’s good to know that one reseller now has an empty shop.
