This is so obviously Regretsy bait that it isn’t even funny:

But what’s more sickening is that the seller continues to rip images off of honest DeviantArt photo manipulaters and sells it as his own. The original artist commented on an image in the seller’s deviant art gallery stating something to the effect of “I do not like that you are using my work without my permission. If you are selling these pendants then you need to offer me an adequate percentage.” Nix simply deleted the image in his deviant art gallery, but continues to sell his glass eyes in his etsy shop:

She doesn’t have an etsy account so asked me to report the listing since he refuses to remove it. Of course, Etsy does noting about copyright infringement though…

I am confused. Did this deviant art atist draw this pic of an eye or take the photo of the eye (I cannot tell whether it’s a drawing or photo)? Or did this person just use some clip art and manipulate it?

Because it seems like the etsy shop seller is doing the very same thing. Taking an image and reproducing it. So both people are wrong unless they asked the originator of ther eye for permission to use it OR bought certain rights to it to use as clipart.

Why don’t people use their own drawings or photographs?!

I am confused? The Deviant art shows art that is photo manipulation. The Etsy seller has glass eyes? How is that copyright infringement?!?

  3. ohmeohmy August 11, 2011 at 11:58 am #

    Hi Discordthreads!

  4. MegansBeadedDesigns August 11, 2011 at 12:31 pm #

Nix uses the images created by the deviant artist, as in copy and paste, prints ’em out and glues ’em to the glass cabochons. That’s how he makes his eyes.

At 847 appearances, Raceytay is speeding to become the first (I think) front page favorite to be featured on Etsy’s front page 1000 times! Wish her luck!

  6. Nixcreations August 11, 2011 at 12:36 pm #

Funny how MegansBeadedDesigns takes copywritten photos to make art collage sheets. Biggot…

  7. JW August 11, 2011 at 1:20 pm #

the original “artist” says on their deviant page that the image came from a stock photo.

  8. Kick The Can August 11, 2011 at 1:21 pm #

Nix has been well-known in the wire-wrapping and polymer clay communities for a long time, and not in a good way.

  9. MegansBeadedDesigns August 11, 2011 at 1:35 pm #

I’m seen him leave nasty comments about “copy-cats” in chat and in the forums-as if he’s the one to have personally invented wire wrap jewelry.

But Nix basically admitted to taking the image from the artist when he removed the gallery image after she left a comment on it, but left his etsy listings up and for sale. I would think that if it wasn’t her work, he would have tried to defend himself, as he was generating a lot of sales form that comment thread and must have been reluctant to take it down.

    ugh. sorry.

The hotdog necklace was thought up before I even knew about regretsy. It’s called a WTF listing to create views. I am not ashamed to show my humorous side.

The glass eyes are not from the photo mentioned. I sometimes do collaboration work with illustrators and painters. Everyone has their critics. Most of the issues from the past have been public misunderstandings, in which people are looking in and not knowing the facts. I’m not perfect but you can continue your bad mouthing. If you spent your time building your business, instead of pointing fingers, you would be more successful.

  12. Nixcreations August 11, 2011 at 1:40 pm #

Yes Megan… I am the Hitler of wire wrapping… lol. You seriously need to find something better to do.

  13. Nixcreations August 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm #

So… who likes the magic hotdog necklace?

  14. MegansBeadedDesigns August 11, 2011 at 2:04 pm #

I do apologize if I am mistaken about to copying of the image, but I did see the comment left on your gallery image at deviantart, then saw that you deleted it without bothering to respond to the accusation. That doesn’t come across very well. Why not defend yourself to your accuser?

  15. Nixcreations August 11, 2011 at 2:16 pm #

I never posted those eyes on Deviant Art for one thing. 2nd of all, the only reason you made this post was because you had created a collage sheet with eyeball images that were not yours and I asked you about it on Etsy. Which you deleted and are bitter about it.

  16. MegansBeadedDesigns August 11, 2011 at 2:28 pm #

Those eyeball images are mine! I am a graphic designer and I know how to use photoshop. Don’t accuse people of copying your images without them looking into where you got yours.

I’m not familiar with how to use google cache, but maybe someone who does could help me out here? Because they were posted on your account. You deleted them right after angel left a comment. Anyone who wants a secondary opinion on the matter is free to contact her about it. I have no idea why you would lie about this. This is getting rather silly.

  17. MegansBeadedDesigns August 11, 2011 at 2:41 pm #

Again though, I do apologize, if I am mistaken.

But please do not accuse me of using copyright images. This is not true.

I either make my own from scratch, heavily alter stock images, or utilize public domain images in my collage sheets.

  18. Nixcreations August 11, 2011 at 5:48 pm #

I’m sure we both have better things to tend to.

  19. Heather August 11, 2011 at 7:36 pm #

I wouldn’t waste your time apologizing to him Megan. Matthew Nix is the prince of lies. Enough of us have seen his images on Deviant Art and then saw them vanish when he was called on them to not believe a thing he says.

He’s done the same thing in the polymer clay and wire wrapping groups too. As soon as he pisses off enough people he moves onto a new art form and it starts all over again.

  20. omgitsalisa August 11, 2011 at 11:48 pm #

I love how every time an argument comes down to actual facts, the guilty party usually falls back on “I’m not wasting any more time on this.” so they don’t have to actually address the concerns. Maybe he’s guilty, maybe he’s not, but he certainly doesn’t help in his own defense. And “biggot”? I don’t think bigot means what he thinks it does.

Looking for some North Face on etsy — here’s the shop to buy it at.

Member for a while – bunch of sales – UHH HELLO ETSY??

  22. Dee August 12, 2011 at 5:45 am #

I sure hope that regretsy doesn’t feature this guy. He loves all the attention and would get more sales from it. ugh!

  23. sickofcupcakes August 12, 2011 at 12:18 pm #

500.00 for a North face backpack?

  24. flea marketsy August 12, 2011 at 12:31 pm #

I know this isn’t “deiviantart” call out but I love how the dragon eye person (angeloffalling stars) cites “google” as one of their sources for the fire image and then tells everyone that they can’t use his/her work.

Google Images is NOT free stock photos, you big fat self-righteous hypocrite.

RaceyTay has a secret inner circle and alleged sock puppet account.

No way someone gets on the front page that much honestly.

  27. TharSheBlows August 12, 2011 at 6:54 pm #

Nix sounds like an asshole, really. And his sense of humor is lame.

It’s no big secret how she gets on the front page a lot and no it doesn’t involve sock puppetry.

    “what’s even more sickening”

You find the photo of the wiener “sickening?” Really? LOL And it looks like a wiener to me. *shrugs* Prude much? lol

  31. sickofcupcakes August 13, 2011 at 5:27 am #

40.00 to ship a bag from Switzerland to the US? And people still buy from her? Crazy.

How do you know these are not handmade by the seller? I sure hope they are because they are very very pricey and it would be sad if they were mass produced by a factory.

  33. Life During Wartime August 13, 2011 at 4:07 pm #

Here is the About Us page at Dazzling Lanna’s webstore:

It says their shop is managed from Switzerland, and that their bags are handmade — but it doesn’t say who makes them. I dunno.

  34. Life During Wartime August 13, 2011 at 4:11 pm #

  35. ohmeohmy August 13, 2011 at 4:45 pm #

Same background here for the bags:

This company makes 10,000 pieces per month. A total factory–ugh!

Sickening to be selling these high priced bags and defrauding buyers about their origins–a freakin’ factory!

  36. Life During Wartime August 13, 2011 at 6:44 pm #

ohmeohmy, your link is a totally different business, with different contact info. DazzlingLanna’s minimum purchase is only 10 bags. Isn’t it possible that this bigger wholesaler ‘borrowed’ DazzlingLanna’s photos?

The things that bother me about DazzlingLanna are that the business describes itself as a wholesaler on their AliBaba profile and that nowhere on her websites does the owner write about making the bags. I mean, I have some 1950s and 1960s barkcloth curtain sets in storage. I love the fabric and its vintage coolness, but I have no idea how to cut and sew a bag out of the curtain fabric. Finding awesome vintage fabric and making bags are two different activities.

  37. ohmeohmy August 13, 2011 at 11:20 pm #

    same pic:

Yes, it could be possible the pics were stolen. But I think it would be hard to replicate any of these bags because they are a patchwork. So not sure why the big company would steal pics from a smaller wholesaler.

  38. ohmeohmy August 13, 2011 at 11:21 pm #

It might be that this etsy shop is purchasing the bags fro this big company.

  39. ohmeohmy August 13, 2011 at 11:33 pm #

What I found very puzzling is that all the bags in dazzlinglanna’s shop do not use the same cloth ever. You would think that pieces are left over and could be used on more than one purse, even if the bag was a different style.

  40. flea marketsy August 14, 2011 at 5:12 am #

Ananwang is now selling under Annawang. Call out was here:

She’s still selling that crochet vest and was featured on the FP this morning.

  41. sickofcupcakes August 14, 2011 at 10:26 am #

It’s a pity, because I really love the bags. If I was sure she was a legit seller, I would buy one.

  42. ohmeohmy August 14, 2011 at 12:25 pm #

I agree. They are very pretty bags. I would buy one too.

i can vouch for Nixcreations stealing art. He apparently has just gone through Deviantart and taken images to use and sell – including mine.
a frog i drew in high school –
and here he is selling it on a pendant –

he apparently was/is doing this deliberately and without remorse to several deviants. without asking permission or giving credit (or even using the images in something new and creative…he’s just slapping them on pendants)
it’s terrible to resort to name calling, but “c*cksucker” is the word that comes to mind.

    what to do?
