TheAccessoryShop

24 Sep

Clearly reselling and the images have the actual branding of the company that they purchased from!!!

Here is the etsy shop:http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheAccessoryShop

and here is the actual manufacturer: http://briellaaccessories.com/product.php

____________________________________________________________

A reader wanted to know why these shops were duplicates:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheRosySnail
http://www.etsy.com/shop/letissufleur

TheRosySnail has items with a watermark on them from the other store? They are also both from Temple, TX. Why duplicate a shop?

Both are weird. The Accessory Shop has practically nothing for a profile, and they have no policies at all. No way I would buy anything from them anyway.

The feather one is weird, since they are both in the same location with identical pics. Trying to evade paying taxes by saying one business only made so much, then opening a second under a new name???

  2. horrible September 24, 2011 at 10:59 am #

I click on that too with a green box .
Then I digged into this post , there is a hidden link for report the shop , the link http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheAccessoryShop is not link directly to the shop , the hidden link is http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheAccessoryShop?confirm_reported=1
this is really bad !!! I never want to report any shop , you are free to speech , but tricking other people to report innocent shop ?? that’s horrible !

  3. kitten September 24, 2011 at 2:02 pm #

I too get the green report banner on Accessory shop. Maybe Etsy read this post first and thought they’d save us some time. lol Both the shop and website are in Pittsburgh and looks like the prices are the same (at least for belts) on both.

The other two shops, to me it looks like they are going to concentrate on the fabric flowers in the letissufleur shop and stick to feathers, etc. in TheRosySnail shop. Maybe they are fazing out the feathers and jewelry and want to concentrate more on the flowers. Could be many reasons. It doesn’t look like anything sinister and it’s not against the rules, so their shops probably shouldn’t even be on here.

I opened two other shops dedicated to certain items I sell, so I’d really hate to see my shops listed here. This seller hasn’t done anything wrong, but many people seem to think you have if your shop is listed here.

  4. Life During Wartime September 24, 2011 at 3:23 pm #

The same person have two shops, with neither one disclosed, is reason for a callout, I think. Maybe I missed it, but I couldn’t find any disclosures of multiple IDs in the Texas shops.

Here is the profile page on AliBaba for Briella Accessories:
    http://www.alibaba.com/member/us116106612/aboutus.html

I read the FAQ and About Us pages on the Briella website, and saw nothing about how they “handmake” their items themselves.

  5. angry jeweler September 24, 2011 at 3:50 pm #

I would bet the TX shop did this – started a new shop to cover up ugly feedback. i’ve seen others do it before – get a new one started so they can phase out the one they screwed up. irks me.

  6. etsycallout September 24, 2011 at 5:57 pm #

If that is the link that was submitted it was posted, we have no agenda here. Link is now fixed.

  7. Alison Rigsby September 25, 2011 at 2:22 pm #

I am the owner of The Rosy Snail. MY best friend owns LeTissuFleur. Her name is Caitlin Matthews, the reason her flowers are in my shop (and featured) is she because she purchases her feathers from me and they are pieces we colaberate on. As stated in the descriptions. I do not list these as items I personally have made but as items that were made from someone from my shop, as she began on Etsy as my second hand woman. She has now branched out and opened her own shop.
As for the cover up of nasty feedbacl, if 98% is nasty, 100% must just be alright.

  8. PussDaddy September 25, 2011 at 6:10 pm #

What pray tell is a second hand woman?

  9. Caitlin Mathews September 25, 2011 at 6:12 pm #

My name is Caitlin Mathews and I am the owner of Le Tissu Fleur. Everything Alison states in the above comment is correct. I get my feathers from her for my flowers and she does me a courtesy to feature my work in her shop as well. We are not evading taxes and feedback, she has her shop and I have my shop – nothing illegal there. She has 98% feedback (nothing to hide from there) and I have 100% – so I don’t see what the problem is? I really don’t think we need to be featured in this article, maybe next time you should do more research before trying to bash someone’s business.

  10. PussDaddy September 25, 2011 at 6:17 pm #

Whether 98% is bad or not there sure are a lot of people who receive damaged packages from you Alison, and a lot who never receive theirs at all, and at least one who says she never received it nor got a refund.

  11. PussDaddy September 25, 2011 at 6:23 pm #

For one thing if I remember correctly items in a shop have to be handmade by you, or handmade by a collective. Neither of your profiles mention any one making anything except for you.

    How ’bout them IP addresses?

  12. Dee September 26, 2011 at 4:21 am #

hmm, the accessory shop and the Briella store are both in PA, (I searched the phone number of Briella). I wonderif they are the same.

  13. Belle September 26, 2011 at 7:38 am #

Gals, I think you need to disclose that you are collaborating — in this sense you are operating as a collective.
Your listing descriptions heighten the sense that you are one person. For example, you both have the same item listed, here http://www.etsy.com/listing/77996711/teal-and-turquoise-fabric-flower-with and here http://www.etsy.com/listing/78643002/teal-and-turquoise-fabric-flower-with. The same three pics are used, suggesting this is the same item being sold in two stores. Against, TOUs
Also, while the description in LeTiss reads as if the seller made the item, the one in the Rosy Snail points out that the feathers came from the Rosy Snail. Since the description is written in 1st person, this seems an odd thing to point out. Like, aren’t you the Rosy Snail?
The final line in the description reads as if Rosy Snail is also LeTiss ‘Customer orders contact me at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/letissufleur?ref=seller_info

We really have no need to explain ourselves to anyone. Especially someone named PussDaddy.
We haven’t broken any rules. You are not even a part of the Etsy community, I bet. Let’s see your feedback on nearly 1,500 transactions. Can’t please them all.

    IP addresses, what crap.

  15. Life During Wartime September 26, 2011 at 11:31 am #

If you are listing someone else’s work in your handmade shop and consider that other person part of your ‘collective’ — and that other person has their own Etsy shop, too — then I think you need to disclose that (both of you) somewhere in your shops. Because having a shop of your own, and being part of a collective in another shop, is having two shops if your work is listed in both. You need to check with Etsy support. Because if someone calling you out can find what looks like duplicate listings, other people are seeing it, too.

  16. Pam September 26, 2011 at 2:26 pm #

Caitlin and Alison, What is happening to you is pretty much the fallout from all the trash that people here sift through with resellers and greedy cheating varmints! I personally don’t see the harm in what you are doing, but to be safe make sure that you cover your butts and follow the rules to the letter. I think it very sweet and kind of you to take your friend under your wing and help her get started, I wish someone had helped me that way.
Please keep in mind that these people are doing for the handmade community what Etsy won’t, enforcing the rules and protecting the people that are following them.

  17. Pam September 26, 2011 at 2:29 pm #

The Accessory shop is claiming in a convo:

Me: Did YOU make each of these items by hand YOURSELF? Because that is the rule here. Reselling is CLEARLY against Etsy policy. This is NOT a venue for resellers. It NEVER has been.

    TheAccessoryShop

    September 25 2011 10:38am EDT

Thank you for your concern. Yes the rule is this and yes someone from our company DOES make each item! We are NOT resellers! Again thank you for your concern.

    Me:

    September 26 2011 5:59pm EDT

The RULE says Made by YOU. Not “someone” from your company. There are very specific rules for sellers having more than one person making items by hand. The point is not in the difference between factory made or sweatshop made. This is NOT Ebay

I think people believe this to be a loophole. And I believe that they think we are too stupid to do the same, or to catch them at it and prove that they are cheating! Or to get Etsy to give a shit. Probably all of the above.

  18. Pam September 26, 2011 at 2:45 pm #

Ooooooh looks like I hit a nerve!!!

“DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN!!! YOU ARE HARRASING ME!! How dare you accuse my beautiful line being made in a sweatshop! HOW DARE YOU!!!

    please see RULES!!

    DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN!!!
Conversations (also called “Convos”) are your way to communicate privately with other Etsy members.

If someone explicitly tells you not to contact them, you must not use Conversations to contact them again, unless involved in an open transaction.
You must not use Conversations to interfere with a transaction.
You must not contact another member to buy or sell an item listed on Etsy outside of Etsy’s marketplace. This may also constitute fee avoidance.
You must not communicate with a member involved in an active or completed transaction to warn the member away from a particular buyer, seller or item.

    Handmade by you
With the exception of Vintage and Supplies, categories on Etsy are for handmade items. Handmade items must be created by the seller operating the Etsy shop (or a member of that shop). Below are general policies regarding handmade items on Etsy, as well as special considerations for certain types of listings or activities in the handmade categorie”

How dare I? How dare THEY.

  19. Alison Rigsby September 26, 2011 at 4:41 pm #

Pam, I like very much your convo 🙂
And also your point of view. In the listings watermarked Letissufleur in my shop (the rosy snail) it does mention that the feathers are by The Rosy Snail and that for custom orders to contact her: (insert link to her shop). To me that screams collective piece. I did one portion of the design, (dying, etc of the feathers) and she did the other portion. I feel like aside from listing one another in our shop information, we really did cover our bases.
Its actually pretty stupid that we ended up in this blog too.
We are constantly talking about how Etsy is going down the drain. I feel like I am either doing work on my shop or flagging handy-tards to don’t get it.
I mean, I have a HUGE bone to pick with many people who are just re-selling feathers they got off of e-bay. That is not HANDMADE. I spend HOURS boiling, stealing, dying trimming, my feathers. There people do nothing. And don’t even get my started on SYNTHETICS.

I’m rambling but my point is, I agrree with most of this site. I’m just trying to run my business.

  20. Alison Rigsby September 26, 2011 at 4:42 pm #

Lmao, I meant steaming, not stealing…wow

  21. Evangaline September 26, 2011 at 8:00 pm #

If you actually dye those feathers yourself then I’m the Queen of England. Hey, it’s ok to sell these things on Etsy as supplies and that’s cool but don’t try to deceive people by telling them you dye them yourself. This is what happens when business owners get all scrappy and try to defend themselves, they make fools out of themselves.

  22. Caitlin Mathews September 27, 2011 at 5:00 am #

@ Evangaline AKA: Queen of England. – HA! Well then you obviously don’t know anything about feathers at all. Maybe you should do some research before saying she doesn’t do something. I have personally seen her dye feathers. Alison is my friend and I’ve been to her house before and been there when she’s dyed feathers. Seems like you’re the one making a fool out of yourself. RESEARCH before you post.

  23. Alison Rigsby September 27, 2011 at 7:22 am #

…some people are stupid…of all the things that have been brought up here, that is the most REDICULOUS. Check out my rainbow feathers, then I DARE you to find someone who has feather JUST LIKE THAT. Anywhere! Ebay, Etsy I mean anywhere. Than you explain that one.

I’m done here. Our businesses are doing well and if anyone found our site here & would like some awesome HANDMADE items, message me for a coupon code 🙂

  24. FreakOut September 27, 2011 at 3:10 pm #

Moral: Never, ever respond to a callout of any kind.

  25. Evangaline September 27, 2011 at 8:54 pm #

You are business owners who decided to take the…low road when responding the allegations about your businesses. The way you all swooped in and started insulting people is sort of like “doth protest too much, methinks”. You are obviously putting people on the defensive. Those same people who have blogs, facebook and the like that can share your glittering responses to others that could perhaps be interested in feathers and decide to chose one of the other thousand sellers that are selling feathers on Etsy because you have shown yourself to be unprofessional.

  26. Pam September 28, 2011 at 2:58 pm #

These are YOUNG women, and they react as such. When I read back over the comments I can see NOTHING that either said which might be taken as insulting. In fact they both reacted with grace in fending off a rather belligerent and offensive attack on both themselves and their shops. I find the hatred heaped upon these two women to be nothing short of FERAL, and with no just cause.
I am unsubscribing from here today for the same reasons that I left the Etsy forums.
Evangeline, I suggest a good long look in a mirror. If you chase people away in your personal life as effectively as you do with your written word, it is no wonder that you reek of jealous hatred. You, YES YOU took the LOW road and it was YOU that did the “swooping”, and sniping and they only reacted to being BULLIED..
If Etsy is dealing with harpies like you, who constantly report legitimate shops, it is no wonder that they don’t have the time to deal with the greedy scum that seek to turn Etsy into another Ebay.
    Cya.

  27. ChefSalad September 28, 2011 at 3:23 pm #

    @Queen of England

So let me get this straight. An uneducated, talentless wast of space, such as yourself, has the right to go online and bash a successful business because YOU can’t wrap your tiny brain around the fact that someone can dye their own feathers?? How pathetic a person you are. What kind of a trolling piece of trash are you? Do you seriously have nothing better to do with your time or life than to bash hard working individuals who are trying to make any extra money in this economy? Who is putting who on the defensive here? These 2 individuals were minding their own business when you and this blog decided to invade their privacy and degrade their talent. Who wouldn’t defend themselves when being attacked? Just because you don’t understand how something is made does not mean you go around crying “the sky is falling.” How about doing yourself and the business owners a favor and asking before looking like a half-wit. Of the time it took you to spew your ignorance, you could have simply asked for answers you did not know.

Now, go ahead and bash me. You’ve already proven your ignorance. Now let’s just see if you’re just plain stupid. That’s what “methinks.”

  28. ChefSalad September 29, 2011 at 7:56 am #

    I figured as much.

  29. PussDaddy October 1, 2011 at 11:24 pm #

Do Alison and Caitlyn have the same IP address? How about ChefSalad?

  30. Pam October 2, 2011 at 12:31 am #

This thread was started about an entirely DIFFERENT shop, (which seems to be let off scot free). HOW it became a place to bully a couple of young women, only you people know, but I can’t be a part of it and I can’t even stand to watch it.
The “owner” of this place needs to weed out the psychopaths.

  31. etsycallout October 2, 2011 at 7:41 am #

    Nope, all different.

  32. Alison Rigsby October 8, 2011 at 8:57 pm #

Can you please delete this now?

  33. meh... November 29, 2011 at 11:52 pm #

I ordered stuff from the rosy snail shop and never got it…LAME. found the link to this page after reading the negative feedback someone left calling her a scammer…not surprised…
