Items in their shop like this one:

have sold numerous times in their shop, and interestingly enough, on Ali Baba!

Why can’t Etsy admin do anything about shops like this?

Another shop full of counterfeit brand new items:

  2. Life During Wartime October 3, 2011 at 9:35 am #

The cast iron stuff — all sold as ‘vintage’ multiple times — are fauxtiques, too. This shop is the USA version of PortugueseVintage..

Is it that admin can’t do anything, or do they make enough $ for greedy old Etsy, that they don’t care….

Weird that they say they are in TX, but their location says Marion, OH…

Dollar bills, y’all. As long as Etsy is making ’em hand over fist, anything goes.

Somebody woke up at Etsy corporate. ARakels items have been disappeared. Go, Moose!

More “farmhouse fauxtiques” Suzi’s Farmhouse Finds aka AmyRebeccaDarabcsek http://www.etsy.com/shop/amyrebeccadarabcsek?ref=ss_profile reminds me of “Blessed in Maine’s” shop. 95%-100% mass-produced with 109 deceived buyers to date.

  7. Life During Wartime October 3, 2011 at 1:20 pm #

I am not sure amyrebeccadarabscek has deceived anyone. This item’s description spells it out that this item is new, vintage style, and discontinued. The bit about the closing store soundls like a crock, because the photos are not hers – they are the stock images used to sell this item. She bought the crates from the wholesaler.

  8. Life During Wartime October 3, 2011 at 1:24 pm #

The wine-related items (at least the ones I clicked on) she has listed in handmade are also clear in their descriptions that she did not make them herself.

The holiday items are stock photos, but I cannot find the sources. They are drop-shipped, I think, because she states 1-2 weeks delivery. People who bought these items know she didn’t make them!

  9. Life During Wartime October 3, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

I thought her shop looked a bit familiar — she was called out in comments here:

Most of the items she had listed then have been deleted from her shop (the links on Google get the 3 armed girl). These were the items made from wine casks or barrels that I linked to from other sellers in September. Now she is sticking more to closeout items from wholesalers.

Her earliest feedback includes a comment from someone local to her, who calls her a “vendor”. That is the right word.

That compass can also be found at Harbor Freight for 9.99

  12. Life During Wartime October 4, 2011 at 1:45 pm #

I saw this seller’s feedback rating wasn’t 100% positive, and am looking at what went down with the negatives. The first one I found was from a buyer who was burnt by one of the cast iron fauxtiques:

“Sent me an obviously not vintage item, grossly overcharged me for shipping, and then tried to blackmail me into giving her positive feedback before a shipping refund was sent. Look at all of her positive feedback without comments, she has done this to others before. Her so called “refund policy” is outrageous. She will most likely give me negative feedback even though I paid the same day I won the item. Etsy is so wonderful but, not with sellers like her.”

  13. EtsyVigilante October 4, 2011 at 1:52 pm #

Ah, looks like someone was deceived (above). Here’s a new Etsy shop that links to her own website in each listing for the same items. http://www.etsy.com/shop/piecesofmellc?ref=pr_shop_more Says they wholesale worldwide. Think they’re handmade?

  14. EtsyVigilante October 4, 2011 at 1:58 pm #

I think I answered my own question ~ check out this listing: http://www.etsy.com/listing/80109337/pom-funky-flag-tee

  15. Life During Wartime October 4, 2011 at 2:06 pm #

I think the items sold by piecesofmellc are handmade, but not by her. She may be using cheaper US labor to make the stuff because of her prices, which I think are high for not so cute mass-produced things. I wonder why she hasn’t sold anything?

I read the rest of dustylorraine’s feedback, and she has a range of issues. She has cancelled sales for actual vintage items. She has misrepresented the condition or completeness of vintage items. It may be that her fauxtiques are drop-shipped because of the huge shipping charges a bunch of buyers mentioned in FB. She has a habit of being rude in reply to convos. There are more negs about getting fakes instead of vintage. A piece of work!

  16. adoringhag October 4, 2011 at 2:25 pm #

dustylorraine, had a horrible transaction with this idiot. I was contacted by other buyers who experienced that same mean, vindictive bitch and I say that with restraint. I would love to see her gone.

  17. iheartvintage October 4, 2011 at 3:28 pm #

OMG. Just read dustylorraine’s feedback, which was troubling, but then read her feedback left for others — wow! Calling buyers idiots, morons, etc…… still can’t quite believe it. Can’t say whether her items are legit or Etsy legal or not, but certainly she is not professional in her business dealings.

  18. Life During Wartime October 4, 2011 at 4:33 pm #

    Is this site real?

  19. Trista October 4, 2011 at 4:35 pm #

OMG… the feedback dustylorraine has left her buyers:

“refused to return item wanted us to pay for postal damage, added to badbuyerlist.org…we refuse future sales to this parasite”

“incredible liar and idiot refused refund, we refuse future sales to this moron”

“neutral? hmm, you recieved exactly what you paid for .. hmm, we refuse any more sales to this idiot”

    “incredible liar and idiot”

That’s as far as I got, I can’t stomach anymore.

  20. Life During Wartime October 4, 2011 at 4:50 pm #

Are the items in dustylorraine’s shop ‘legit’? New item listed today:
Same item, dated 2006, seller has a bunch available:
The ‘Design Studio’ section of GoAntiques is for new items, too new to be sold as vintage collectibles. Note the measurements given in the Go listing match the ruler photos from dustylorraine. This is a reproduction fauxtique copy of an earlier piece.

    Not vintage, not ‘legit’.

  21. Life During Wartime October 4, 2011 at 4:59 pm #

    Another new item:
The same item is all over the web, repainted in many different colors. This is brand new. Check out the very rough casting on the iron — a cheap product. Her price of $12.00 for two is about average.

  22. Life During Wartime October 4, 2011 at 5:14 pm #

Another fauxtique newly listed by dustylorraine:
From the same seller as the coca cola door handle on GoAntiques:
The Go seller states the item is new, and has 5 available. There are discussions of this product in collector’s forums — much amusement about the the letters at the bottom of the circle reading REC TM instead of REG TM, for registered trademark. Chinese fake from the 90s, at the earliest.

  23. sickofetsyshit October 4, 2011 at 7:23 pm #

dustylorraine on etsy is one of the most unprofessional sellers encountered on etsy. so sad! she is unscrupulous and a liar in selling items that are newly manufactured reproductions advertising them as original and vintage.

every one of the negatives she left for her buyers includes the name calling of idiot, imbecile, moron and liar. wow. I especially like her slam of an entire group of people by claiming one of her unsatisfied customers (who wa srightly unhappy with the cut off feet of the dispensers) as “typical pez collectors”.

  24. sickofetsyshit October 4, 2011 at 7:38 pm #

I saw the mention of badbuyerlist.org and thought hmm… I wonder… I googled badSELLERlist and found

    whooahhh! 😀

  25. DeadKittens October 5, 2011 at 3:43 am #

If she cut the feet off a pez, she did it to purposely deceive customers as the footless ones are older, I believe. That sounds a lot like mail fraud.

  26. iheartvintage October 5, 2011 at 7:22 am #

Also jaw-dropping are her shop policies, for example:

SUCH AS ASKING (stupid) QUESTIONS after item is paid for ”

    and my personal favorite:

How does this person have so many sales???

  27. sickofetsyshit October 5, 2011 at 8:33 am #

Ebay would kick off that seller in a heartbeat since she is outright stating in her policies (roflol) that she “BLACKMAILS FOR POSITIVE FEEDBACK” Ebay as flawed as it is, continued to at least try and progress over the years. Not so, etsy…

  28. Life During Wartime October 5, 2011 at 9:47 am #

I’ve still got a couple of comments with documentation on her new merchandise awaitng moderation. If her unprofessional behavior won’t get Etsy’s attention, maybe some proof that she is passing fakes will.

  29. Life During Wartime October 5, 2011 at 10:58 am #

sickofetsyshit, I am guessing that dustylorraine sold on Ebay before she moved to Etsy. When researching some of her fakes, the only other sellers I could find for them were on Ebay — but all disclosed that the item was not old (in some cases, descibed as new in original packaging). I found another 5-6 items in dustylorraine’s shop on Ebay yesterday listed as new.

Etsy allows fakes to be sold if they fit contemporary trends — I have to wonder how many flags shops like PortugueseVintage have gotten with documentation she is selling new items as handmade by her (not!) or ‘vintage’? I think without the Moose ARakels would still be open.

  30. Life During Wartime October 5, 2011 at 11:27 am #

The newest Etsy cupcake is a guy! Check out this hilarious thread in the forums. Read the OP, and then have a look at the shop.

yes, I was the “typical pez collector” etsy would not remove her negative feedback she left for me.

    she is charming.

  33. Life During Wartime October 5, 2011 at 1:43 pm #

Etsy admin goes on record in the forums that altered vintage can still be vintage:

Changing the length of a dress or skirt does not significantly alter it? If it’s a small hem made to fit the body of a more petite customer, how would the seller know this before the item is purchased? Obviously what is meant is a style altering change. Etsy throws another knife at the backs of vintage sellers. Thanks a lot.

  34. Life During Wartime October 5, 2011 at 2:29 pm #

    Reseller on the FP:

Seller has another shop on Dawanda where she sells wedding dresses she supposedly makes by hand. And knits elaborate sweaters and sells them for a bargain price in her spare time. Uh huh.

  35. Inspector Yuk October 5, 2011 at 2:32 pm #

You know, I see the vintage seller’s point of view that an altered vintage item is no longer truly vintage, but as a handmade artisan, I wouldn’t want to see it in handmade either. If you hem a vintage dress and then put it in handmade, it gives the impression that more work was put into than just hemming it. Yes, you can put that in the description, but you can do that if it’s left in vintage just as well. To me, it’s more vintage than it is handmade.

don’t throw tomatoes at me, I love and respect my vintage peeps, but I think this case really straddles the line between vintage and handmade and leans a little more toward the vintage side.

  36. Inspector Yuk October 5, 2011 at 2:38 pm #

LDW, does anyone in their right mind think that sweater is handmade? I think not. They have the same catalog page pictures with the cut off faces that all the resellers use. God, I wish they’d all just go away.

And Malaysia? Do you really think this little gal is sitting in her thatched hut knitting this stuff and sewing this stuff all by hand?

  37. DeadKittens October 5, 2011 at 2:53 pm #

Yeah, I see I wasn’t the only one who noticed that sweater. What do you bet all of those little black word boxes on the pics are covering up an alibaba web adress?

  38. Life During Wartime October 5, 2011 at 3:08 pm #

Hiya, Inspector! Where have you been? We missed you!

I agree with what you are saying about hemming. But taking a maxi dress and turning it into a micro mini club outfit is not just hemming. Same deal with sellers who spray paint brass or other vintage items. They are no longer vintage, but they aren’t handmade metalwork or pottery or whatever. If vintage sellers want to hem items for buyers, that is completely different. They can sell the unaltered dress with a customization option to shorten the dress or skirt to the buyer’s specification at no additional charge. As someone mentioned in that thread, if you can’t sell a vintage item in original condition because the market doesn’t want that style right now, don’t purchase or save it for the future when it comes back in style. Learn dressmaking so you can create your own line. Don’t buy vintage just to chop it up!

  39. EtsyPoliceBitch October 6, 2011 at 6:18 am #

holy crap dustylorraine’s policies are made of lulz!

I’m envisioning packages being held at gunpoint.

  40. FormerEtsyBuyer October 6, 2011 at 6:21 am #

OT, I can’t believe this phony “Links of London” bracelet made the front page just now:

Well, then again, it’s etsy, so I do believe it… I guess I don’t even have to say that there are zillions of these on alibaba, and this seller has a number of styles.

    Great job, etsy!

  41. OldShit October 6, 2011 at 9:32 am #

The Etsy staff are so confused about what vintage / handmade means that they confused everybody else.
They need to get a job they can handle.

Yeah, I found that link a few days ago but didn’t have the ‘nads to post it, sickofetsyshit. Do you think that is the same person?

  45. WittyBird October 7, 2011 at 3:24 pm #

Well if it is the same person DustyLorraine just became
PoopyLorraine! Bet she just sh*t her pants!

  46. Trista October 7, 2011 at 4:04 pm #

LOL I’m not sure that is her though…

In her shop dustylorraine she lists her location as Marion, Ohio. Her profile has a link to her other shop, studiorickrack, where she lists her location as Columbus, Ohio and her name as Lorraine Rush.

Then on Facebook this Lorraine Rush links to studiorickrack – http://www.facebook.com/lorraine.rush

  47. WittyBird October 8, 2011 at 8:08 am #

As a buyer too, it would be nice to add on my buyer profile,

Her location states Marion Ohio.; which one is it, Dirty Lorraine?

  51. Life During Wartime October 8, 2011 at 6:41 pm #

More more more, fauxtiques from dustylorraine:

DustyLorraine sounds like a nightmare. What a wonderful example she sets for etsy.

  53. DeadKittens October 9, 2011 at 9:12 am #

I would love someone to contact her to let her know she is on ECO. I be she would go batshit crazy. lol That would be super fun.

  54. WittyBird October 9, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

Wouldn’t she have some idea with the number of hits in her Shop Stats?
She knows, and she’s reading, and she doesn’t give a crap.

  55. Life During Wartime October 9, 2011 at 4:34 pm #

Yeah, she’s reading. Because she didn’t list any reseller carp today. She has some very cool pottery in her shop and other nice vintage. But judging by her most recent sales about 40% of the items sold from that shop are the new stuff.

  56. BlowItOutYourAss October 9, 2011 at 5:03 pm #

People without ethics only care about the bottom line. She sells reproductions, knows it, and insults people who call her on it.

She sucks dead rats and so does her crap. Put that in your nose and blow it, Lorraine.

  57. GeekGirl (@geekgirlvintage) October 10, 2011 at 4:23 am #

I also like how the shop has a strict “No sales to this person” listed in their listings. Furthur research indicates it’s because a certain shop called them out in their feedback.

  58. Life During Wartime October 13, 2011 at 10:05 am #

Another day, another fauxtique from dustylorraine:
Brand new and for sale at a similar price all over the web:

Also on Ebay and a bunch of other sites.
A brand new fantasy piece made in the style of depression glass. Not a repop, just a fake.

  59. Colours October 14, 2011 at 10:51 am #

This type of people make me sick. It’s fine to sell mass-produced junk. It’s basically the blood of our society nowadays. But Etsy was meant to be a haven for handmade and vintage. Don’t sell cheap junk and call it vintage. Bad sellers make Etsy look bad! I look back on older call outs and the shops are not only still open but continue to make a profit.

  60. Life During Wartime October 14, 2011 at 1:56 pm #

This is how Etsy is handling the issues with fauxtique seller dustylorraine:

…by featuring her item in the Etsy blog article today.

Bwahahahahaha!!!! I love it when etsy features resellers on their blog and in the finds and ….. where ever else they feature resellers! twitter?

  62. BadaBing October 15, 2011 at 9:00 am #

Instead of a description, she puts this in every listing?

All items are carefully wrapped and packaged

to safely arrive at their destination.

Please feel free to convo me

with any questions you might have.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

After much soul searching & thought ..I finally understand why CrustyChlorine bothers me..SO SO MUCH!
because she is the unbalanced scale of Etsy! For every “Crusty” there’s
an equal but opposite. And we see them everyday, there’s not a
Callin’ Out site for them. Let’s call it “Loosing it ALL for Etsy”.

For every mean, sucky reseller..there’s a seller who’s so Gee Golly Darn Happy to have a real sale that they will ship free , fold in silverfoiled wrapping paper , lovingly place in a kraft paper artfully stamped Box, send a hand pressed business card..and
send a free gift & especially designed thank you card!

    They will buy a $1000 Camera, relist 20 times a day,buy impressions,make 25 treasury a day,Heartsy at 50% Off,
AND spend 7 hours a day on the forums telling everyone else how they can be as successful as them! “Doing it right” until every transaction costs them -12.86.

Shame , shame on you for EVER wanting to sell ART..for profit!

    it’s ART-

  64. sickofetsyshit October 19, 2011 at 8:45 am #

About the code P-6, I sometimes see codes in shops that relate to a specific etsy group, and did find some references, but only through Google (as usual, lol!) Looks like it could be related to small farms and farmers, small business, co-op, etc. Here’s one link that I found that may apply, but only because of this phrase I found googling etsy code p-6 “However, there’s a new indicator of small farmer products called P6” I could be totally wrong, of course 😀 !

The Seward Coop is in Minneapolis MN. Crusty is in Texas or Ohio depending on which way her broom is flying that day.

  66. adoringhag October 21, 2011 at 11:05 am #

Is she a ‘loco’ supplier of her goods and services? Most likely not considering what she sells in her shop and how she treats her buyers. Or maybe she just pretends that she does, it would be no surprise there.

  67. mister November 2, 2011 at 7:05 pm #

this woman is *seriously* disturbed. you can still find her on facebook (search for studiorickrack) but she has taken down any identifying photos of herself. (after buying something from her and getting a taste of her ugliness, i looked her up.) maybe she’s paranoid now that everyone is on to her. good. what a b*tch.

Quite a list above, but I’m curious as to how can we tell they all belong to Lorraine Rush / DustyLorraine / StudioRickRack? Please, don’t get me wrong; I’m all for sellers with bad business practices getting their comeuppance (this one probably more so because of her disgusting feedback remarks about others), but not at the expense of the credibility of this fabulous site. It would be pretty elaborate to set up all those shops and I think that might be giving too much credit to her in the brains department. I haven’t looked at all of those shops yet, but I know that some of what I saw were definitely not her. Please, prove me wrong, lol! 😀 I’m just concerned that this might be some sort of payback by her by posting this list here and trying to get us to flag those other shops willy nilly. I’m not trying to be antagonistic, just cautious. 🙂 Cautious especially given her nasty vindictiveness.
