All I can say is UGH!
No, actually I have to add that if they were on AF, they would be scooted right on over to the Commercial section.

  2. DJ October 19, 2011 at 7:47 am #

Well, I just reported them. That’s ridiculous.

  3. sickofetsyshit October 19, 2011 at 8:07 am #

I reported to etsy, too, in addition to UGG:

  4. sickofetsyshit October 19, 2011 at 8:53 am #

Wow,I know it’s a form letter, but I received a response from Ugg thanking me for the heads-up and letting me know they’ll investigate and respond to my question. – Yay for Ugg!

And the seller has these listed under Handmade Clothing? WTF?

I know I am just banging my head on the desk here, but I cannot understand why Etsy doesn’t have bots to grab listings as they go live for designer names listed in Handmade, sending an alert to the staff so a human can have a look? How hard would that be?

  6. sickofetsyshit October 19, 2011 at 10:26 am #

heh heh heh… if it can happen to giant eBay, it ca happen to hipster boutique etsy!

  7. sue October 19, 2011 at 10:51 am #

Most all her listings state Handmade? What?? That is just wrong. Really do not believe this person will be on Etsy for long misleading people (i hope)

  8. SlayBelles October 19, 2011 at 11:42 am #

This kind of stuff makes me mental. I would like to see Etsy slammed with copyright violations. Perhaps then they’ll start to take this re-seller crap seriously. If catching these posers is too much for the whiz kids Etsy has working for them, they should hire some of the regular posters here. Some of you folks seem to have no trouble locating these shops, or doing thorough research and finding proof.

    Ships from Japan:
    Ships from Australia:

I didn’t even know it was possible to mark your “ships from” as different places around the world.

Even if these items were the real deal, and weren’t fake items violating the copyrights of famous brands, they aren’t allowed to be sold on Etsy. They aren’t handmade, supplies or vintage. This shop should be closed because they are violating the Etsy TOU.

  11. Curious October 19, 2011 at 12:09 pm #

    and then there’s this one:

with the exception of some of her jewelry items which *may* have had a jump-ring added to fit the TOUs all the stuff in her shop is obviously not handmade. Sheesh…

  12. jobradley October 19, 2011 at 12:14 pm #

Wow, she made 75 Chanel quilted purses herself. It’s a $10 vinyl purse peddled on street corners of every major city around the globe. Nice mark-up and she offers you to buy and resell!

  13. Life During Wartime October 19, 2011 at 12:40 pm #

Good one, Curious! She seems to think that the non-vintage categories are like those on Ebay — for new items. Another shop that would have been easy enough for Etsy to find because she uses designer names in some of her titles for handmade listings.

  14. jobradley October 19, 2011 at 3:55 pm #

usjones is now empty! Kudos to everyone who reported this shop.

  15. Life During Wartime October 19, 2011 at 4:47 pm #

Trista, there are sellers on Etsy who show a bunch of locations in several countries or even continents. When you list an item, the listing form does not cross check the country location you used to sign up with Etsy or that you have showing in your shop. A huge loophole for drop shippers and other resellers! Is this an oversight, or was this long range planning to allow drop shipping in future? I know Etsy allows multi-national collectives now, where orders are placed with the shop in one country (usually the USA) but shipped from Europe or Asia.

oh dear, speaking of trademark issues – I kinda think Chanel WON’T love these

and why don’t we all just use luxury brand logos at CafePress and sell them on mugs for $35 each and t-shirts for $64. What complete bull$!t

This is my favorite ‘chanel’ item on Etsy:

Listed as handmade clothing, not made by the seller. Tagged chanel. Imported from Ecuador. WTF?

  19. sickofetsyshit October 20, 2011 at 8:03 am #

I’m a jealous hating bitch with no life so I spent a few minutes yesterday and emailed Ugg, Chanel and Gucci, and live-chatted with Burberry. *Smug smile*

  20. Life During Wartime October 20, 2011 at 10:55 am #

sickofetsyshit, if Ugg, Chanel, Gucci, and Burberry feel at all like the Moose did about these resellers claiming in their listings to handmake items tagged with their company names, or embellished with fake logos, Etsy may have to take some action.

I still cannot figure out why Etsy does nothing about these listings because almost all of them violate something in the dos and don’ts, even if Etsy wants to ignore copyright issues.

From her profile – “Deeann Elizabeth’s Embellishments
    Author of two Published Books”

Given the way her profile, announcement and product descriptions are written (and the fact that she apparently thinks a comma is a period), I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess that she’s self published.

Sells somewhat of the same stuff.

  26. thebitchyone October 21, 2011 at 1:03 am #

abstract? modern? and this is the supposed “artist” and they don’t know the meaning?

Etsy really needs to have humans look at every shop that opens from China. peachblossom2010 is such an obvious reseller. I mean, listings for silverware, candles, jewelry, accessories, supplies…all handmade by the seller in a corner of her apartment, no doubt.

  28. cynicallyopenminded October 21, 2011 at 4:04 am #

What a lovey new alloy ring:

CLUES FOR ETSY ADMIN: “from china” “wedding dress” “wholesale” and yet all of the listings state “handmade by peachblossom2010”

  30. Dj October 21, 2011 at 8:34 am #

I don’t get how it can say it “ships from US” if it’s “a rtustworthy professional online shopping site from china” ???

  31. DeadKittens October 21, 2011 at 6:14 pm #

I mentioned this a while back, re shipping.

usjones is now empty! Kudos to everyone who reported this shop.”

Unfortunately, an empty shop can often mean that the owner found out they were called out and just emptied it. When the shop is GONE, that’s when it’s time to celebrate.
