Found this reseller:
in a front page treasury with this item:
listed as Paper Goods handmade by the seller.  I didn’t look for every single color and style of straws in her shop, but found them for sale all over the web, imported from China.
I took a look at the shop and saw a lot of professional photographs,
Here is a shop section for tissue paper pompoms, all listed as handmade by domesticcharm:
But the photos are from this site, Dress My Cupcake:
These are the same items exactly, shipped flat with instructions for fluffing into a ball.
Dress My Cupcake sells wholesale.  Here is their page for setting up an account:
Here is a page of cupcake wrappers from domesticcharm that she calls quatrefoil and claims to hand make:
And here are the exact same photos on Dress My Cupcake:
Polka dot cupcake wrappers from domesticcharm:
Same photos on Dress My Cupcake:
Zebra print cupcake wrappers from domesticcharm:
Note photo 3 which has more animal print styles all copied from Dress My Cupcake:
The shop section page shows two kinds of robot print wrappers in domesticcharm’s shop:
Both copied from Dress My Cupcake again:
Here are glitter wrappers from domesticcharm:
Photo 4 shows these items from Dress My Cupcake:
Etsy needs to contact this seller, review her shop, and remove the items she doesn’t make from handmade categories.

This crap is on the FP right now:

I cannot even fathom how or why someone would try to call this vintage. Do they really think no one is going to know?

I don’t believe that whoever picks the FP doesn’t know. I think they just don’t care.

  2. Trista January 3, 2012 at 10:26 am #

Wow, okay, I barely even posted it and it’s already been deleted.

For anyone wondering, it was an alibaba owl necklace titled and tagged vintage from seller

  3. Resellers...AARRGH January 3, 2012 at 10:38 am #

WOW …they are getting shut down quickly today! YAY!!!

  4. Life During Wartime January 3, 2012 at 10:55 am #

Wow, gone so fast! Too bad the people at Etsy who pick the FP treasures put domesticcharm on the FP twice that week. They were on again a few days after the treasury in the call out. How can someone be qualified to pick treasuries for the front page if they don’t know the rules for selling on Etsy?

  5. Devora January 3, 2012 at 10:58 am #

    Yay!! Justice!

  6. Life During Wartime January 3, 2012 at 11:45 am #

Trista, Etsy removed the owl (was that the faux vintage you meant?) from the site, but never looked at the seller’s other items.

    Her rings category:

  7. Trista January 3, 2012 at 3:14 pm #

LDW, yes the owl was the one I meant. (I posted a second comment right after my first but it was awaiting moderation until now.) The necklace was titled and tagged vintage, and almost all of the tags had something to do with it being “vintage”.

Trista, like this owl ring title?
Owl Ring Vintage Handmade Jewelry Garnet Red Rhinestone Eyes Adjustable Ring Harry Potter Style ((Free Shipping USA))

    Vintage? From when?
    Handmade? By whom?
How is it Harry Potter related if it is vintage?

The other owl ring that was in her shop earlier has been removed.

International manufacturing collective shop on the Etsy FP now:

Nothing in description says who made this item. Just says “Made In USA”.

  10. TrickyWording January 5, 2012 at 6:00 am #

A division of this company / collective.

They pretty much have covered their asses in general, except for saying who is in the ‘colllective’. This is a big operation.

  11. susan January 5, 2012 at 11:26 am #

TrickyWording indeed! Here is another write up on the company:

This company is one that is in the Etsy Catch22: They started out making something themselves (wooden rattle, five years ago), discovered a market and then expanded. In the expansion they’re no longer Etsy Legal as they are sourcing products from other artisans. There’s no doubt that the articles are handmade but the company structure is vague. They’re using the word collective in that manner, but they’re about as collective as TenThousandVillages. They’re sourcing and reselling, albeit from original artisans and maintain their eco ethic, but they’re reselling work of others in which the profit is not shared equally.

One of their suppliers mentioned in that article, Eyster Lyre Company sells exclusively through Camden Rose Inc. They have a youtube video that refers to Camden Rose as their distributor:

I’m sure they know what is legal since the Eysters are a lawyer family. Article here:

Nothing will happen to Camden Rose on Etsy, they’re absolutely the type of seller Etsy wants. But Eyster Lyre could open up an Etsy shop themselves and be absolutely legit.

But back to the original call out. Straws are not handmade and there is a bunch of other sellers who have them listed. Most of them used to have them listed as supplies, and there was controversy over that started by shabbygirl2
It looks like they’ve drifted into listing them under handmade. Lots of sellers with them, I feel the need to make a treasury I think.

  13. TrickyWording January 5, 2012 at 1:49 pm #

Lint is a supply. If straws are a supply, can I sell my boogers as a supply, too? It’s an endless pile of nonsense. There is an excuse for almost anything a person wants to do in this world, if they choose to go that way. “It’s bush league, stuff, man”

off topic but want you all to see this beaut!!!

I was browsing ‘” for new Etsy complaints and I came across this report about Etsy seller stylemesweetdesign ”. And 2 of her negative feedback comments got me poking in her shop. And this is what I found [below]Let me start by saying:. I am a logo creator myself, and I when first started graphic design in school/class, our teacher would get us to check stock sites to get inspiration, and to view examples of designs she wanted us to design for her. WELL when I came across this article on I was curious and checked out stylemesweetdesign shop listings, and what I found was disgusting! I found images that I distinctively remembered from the stock image sites I browsed while in school! LOL (I have an elephant brain) And there are 2 lengthy negatives that accused her of lying, and using stock illustrations. AFTER stating she HAND DRAWS every one of a her ‘one of a kind’ designs!

So…long story short. Amanda/Mandy of Style Me Sweet Design is claiming her “custom” logo work as HER own, BUT she is lying scam artist. She isreally stealing images from REAL graphic artists who post their portfolios on Stock image sites (ie: Istock, dreamstime and others) and charging people a fortune for them…as her own.

Here are a few examples. Oh and I have already contacted Pichayasri (the most used designers she steals from, and no, they are NOT the same person, I contacted Pichayasri myself via dreamstime) So she cannot claim those are HER images on said stock photo sites! And even IF they were, remember.. she claims in her shop listings; every design (in her shop) is ‘One of a kind items “HAND drawn by HER” tailored for her customers. She even stole WORDS [Her listing description] from yet another logo designer! Word for word. Yawn. HERE

Now here are a few examples of her stolen OOAK designs

Here is a cupcake design she claims to have made for ‘Cherry on Top’ .com. When you check this site that logo isn’t even ON it Now here s the SAME cupcake a stock site created by Pichayasri.
    The ACTUAL artist.
Here is ”her” design of a little girl in bed. site link
Now this image is from a totally different designer on the stock site than the one aboveNotice ‘One of a Kind- ‘never resold’ directly in the listing title! Ugh! Listing- same image owned by Relato on Dreamstime stick site.

‘Her’ image of a flying fairy (in the first box) image image on Dreamstime stock by designer ”Lordalea” A DIFFERENT designer again! little kids in bed are also an image belonging to the same designer. Here
The third image box in this listing shows a set of pink kitchen items [tea pot, sugar cup and cupcake] made into a ‘logo’ OOAK Listing- image- image[s] on Dreamstime stock-

Last one, although I CAN continue..but you catch my drift. LOLHere is “her” hand drawn Hibiscus flower logo. logo here but with shadow added and reversed. :)

shabbygirl2 claims to have paper straws made for her in the USA.

Found this blog that IDs the manufacturer:

It looks like the handmade aspect of the retail paper straws on Etsy is the shop owner slapping their own sticker on the package from the manufacturer.

  16. Life During Wartime January 5, 2012 at 5:51 pm #

So domesticcharm is back, and still reselling straws and other paper goods as handmade? Still using photos from the wholesaler. Another giant step backwards for the Etsy LIT (Lack of Integrity Team).

  17. Life During Wartime January 5, 2012 at 6:51 pm #

I just tried reading that old forums thread. Gave up after a few pages. I cannot believe so many shop owners love bombing a reseller?

  18. heather January 6, 2012 at 7:46 pm #

the hard wood choo chhoo company palumba has listed the items are made by their parent company?? im confused and off etsy lincs, and they are producing enough to support a whole catologe…wow!!

  19. heather January 6, 2012 at 8:25 pm #

    style me sweet designs, says…

Some designers may find it necessary to resell the same logo over and over, or worse, recreate other designer’s logos. I can assure you that your logo will never be a recreation of another design and that every logo I sell is retired and never resold.

she actually called herself out but says its other designers…what an idiot!!!

  20. Etsy Vigilante January 7, 2012 at 7:08 am #

Here’s something listed as being from 2005. But because they’re “fans”, they “don’t feel bad selling this newish item on Etsy”

Hiya! I know this is kinda off topic but I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa?
My website discusses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other.

If you are interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
I look forward to hearing from you! Terrific blog by the way!
