Half of the links are already down. I refuse to believe etsy is behind it. If so, give me a sign. And use the Smiths as a reference.

wow…. i cant believe some of these people!! One girl actually put that she bought these shoes at Targe?! and this is still up and the other chick has a Juicy Couture Tank LOL I sent her a personal message stating “This item is not vintage.. Juicy Couture was founded in 1997 so this shirt isnt 20+ years old” I also sen the same to Etsy lets see if they taker her down! Makes me angry that people who actually work hard to make their own stuff get buried with crap like this!

urban outfitters stuff that is brand new, and forever 21… ugh

    brand new stuff again

I also think its important to note that the forever21 clutch has doubled in value since being in the store last month.

Doubled in value, or doubled in price?

This is a great call out. I only wish I could have seen the first shop, DemonaLeFright. What was that one selling?

Missoni (for Target) didn’t debut until August 2011, is that correct? sheesh

  7. Pam Gari February 28, 2012 at 2:20 am #

All reported AND I ask Etsy if this is the new Etsy “Legal” and should I start scouring yard sales and 2nd hand shops for things to sell like these sellers?

  8. Life During Wartime February 28, 2012 at 11:06 am #

Only genuineSkim is still open now.

According to this closed forums thread, a Chinese jewelry seller copied pics from another Etsy shop for their listings. And they are still open with the ‘borrowed’ photos.

is this vintage? I’m pretty sure it isn’t

I love that Gillian favorites items like this rather than reporting them. Anyone taking bets on when this item gets into the Etsy Finds?

  11. Life During Wartime February 28, 2012 at 4:29 pm #

The Target shoes are gone, but all the rest of genuineSkim is still there. Including the clutch from last month.

  12. Yellshe February 28, 2012 at 5:30 pm #

I noticed that the clutch is listed NWOT… so why does it take Etsy so long to take this stuff down? Their work is done for them. Maybe they are too busy searching for all things steampunk?

In the shop announcement of It says □ □ □ Important Shop Announcement □ □ □ Now Handmade in New Zealand, shipping out of Pittsburgh, PA. So how is it the seller living in PA makes all those bracelets but wait oh that’s right she just ships them!!!

  14. Flaggity Flag Flag February 29, 2012 at 5:14 pm #

Very cool that the Target shoes have been removed already! Here are some more reportable listings from genuineSkim: The Marc by Marc Jacobs line was introduced in 2001. Not vintage. According to the American Rag Facebook page, this brand launched in 2003. Not vintage.

  15. sickofcupcakes March 1, 2012 at 12:04 pm #

She flies out to NZ and makes the crap, flies back to PA and ships them, silly!

  16. Life During Wartime March 1, 2012 at 12:53 pm #

And the new without tags, vintage style, clutch is still listed for sale on Etsy.

  17. sickofetsyshit March 1, 2012 at 12:56 pm #

Actually, it looks to be true. She really needs to put more information about this in her shop announcement or her profile. According to her blog, she and her husband did move to New Zealand, and she does make them and ships bunches at a time to her brother in PA. She does the listing, and when an item is bought, he ships from his office where they’ve been shipping from for almost a year.

I love callin’ out, and I also love being able to have correct information. It’s so easy to have wrong info out there and misunderstandings and assumptions. In this case, the seller just needs to give us more info to clarify the situation! 😀
