Found it interesting that some of her items ship from the UK, while others ship from the US. Drop ship perhaps???

This is a regular business that has a bricks and mortar store as well as their own website:

Almost every plant nursery business I’ve ever seen sells all kinds of gardening accessories they don’t make.

is this the kind of thing you are talking about. it is a mass produced charm hung on a mass produced chain. i am new to your blog.

  4. Life During Wartime March 5, 2012 at 12:51 pm #

mj, that does not look like a reseller piece to me. Because that is not a professional way to attach a pendant or charm to a chain. It looks like the seller assembled the necklace, which makes it fine to list for sale as handmade on Etsy.

Here is the charm on the chain..”handmade”

  6. rattriffic March 5, 2012 at 4:03 pm #

what is with all the charm on chain bs….this is etsy legal we don’t have to like it but these people are buying jewelry components and making somethnig!!

THESE ARE RESELLERS…..buying mass produced wholesale items and selling them exactly as they were bought with no alterations made…thyeare buying these from chinese/korean factories and reselling them on etsy as handmade…or theyare the factories themselves selling them on etsy as handmade

Dunno if it was made by the seller or not, but the title says it is sterling silver while the description says it is brass. I would not take a chance that chain is sterling, either. Silver plating is not sterling silver.

I can’t understand why people don’t go out and collect moss and rocks and make their own shit. It defies intelligence.

    More imported manufacturered charm-n-chain resellers:
A bunch of shops on my list not in China are closed. Some USA shops that were reselling, aren’t now. This leaves the big time Chinese resellers free to control the market.

Reseller teresab123 http://www.etsy.com/shop/teresab123 also links to her own website (that sells the exact same items) in her shop announcement AND watermarks her photos with her site address http://www.teresasplants.com, thus violating yet another of Etsy’s terms of services.

rattriffic and I both forgot Shininggift.

    New reseller jewelry shops:
    and this new shop:
read their announcement where they say right out where their items are manufactured.
Catalog pages in the listings are from this site:

Here is the website for jwl charms:
They also sell on Ebay, and the Miss Girl brand items are sold from a bunch of Asian web sites.

  13. Life During Wartime March 5, 2012 at 8:18 pm #

Here they are on Ali Express (and other distributors on Ali sell Miss Girl stuff, too):

One of those Chinese factory made peacock pendant necklaces just sold for $24 in a Tophatter auction! Listed with stock photo from the manufacturer. The silly girls were bidding like mad for something they could have for a few dollars.

  15. Bozo March 6, 2012 at 8:49 pm #

Hahahaha People are such idiots on Tophattr. The other day they were bidding like crazy over bidding on a necklace when they could have bought it much less on the sellers site.

  16. rattriffic March 7, 2012 at 9:08 pm #

I just grabbed a small snipit of the resellers, there are obviously many more:-) Its almost insulting to my time and effort when they don’t shut them down even with 100% proof!! I really want to love etsy and the idea behind it but if a f’ing joke and everybody but them sees it, they are going to be come the running joke and it just doesn’t make any sense to me by keeping things legit they would still make tons of money…..we will all see it will soon be a different kind of marketplace and we will be like remember when etsy used to only sell handmade:-)

I hate the fact that people have to slam other people just for giggles and something to do. We have been in business for 18 years. We collect and grow our own moss and plants or we have collectors we pay fro getting from their yards. Items on etsy NOT made byme are clearly said to not be made by me but another company as a supply that you can then decorate.

I Have NEVER bought from this Alibaba place. I buy stock from well known manufactures here in the USA and where they get I do not know.

I collect and grow all my lichens as well. I also purchase lichens that I then re dye and preserved because I like my process better.

Etsy has evolved over the years to be more accommodating to what people can and can not sell and I have been following there rules.

They are NO LONGER JUST handmade items as you can clearly see by all the items people sell and the categories.

It really is a shame that people have to spend time being so negative…put your blogs to good use on items that are hurting people.

I have pleased MANY people and have received many blessings as well with all my stores and shops . I pray that each and everyone that receives our products will be blessed and find joy and comfort in them.

Thank you for your time…bless you all!
    Teresa Kessler
