TheTeardropShop, StumblingOnSainthood

3 Apr

okay, someone explain this to me.

This shop sells a cute little umbrella necklace:

This other shop sells a cute little umbrella necklace:

Two different shops, same exact photo. I get that they could be legal if they were buying the umbrella as a part and adding it to a chain (which other sellers appear to be doing)..but this is the SAME necklace, same wire wrapping detail, etc. Same photos.

Are the two shops the same person? Or just two different people reselling a premade necklace and using the stock photo of it?

As a buyer, I want a pic of WHAT *I* AM BUYING, not what was sold 100 pieces ago and renew sold all the time.

This necklace and many more like it are also offered in our sister shop!>>>

same shop owners. sort of sketchy, I didnt check to see if it was a ‘collaboration’ considering they’re in 2 different countries, that just seems sketchy too.

as far as using the same photo, if it was ‘handmade from scratch’ and more involved designwise, I would take new photos but with a wire-wrapped stone & a premade charm…not much chance of it looking very different.

Same price – one in WA and the other BC, so it could be the same vendor….shocks me that they want $28 for that!

thanks for that info b, i hadn’t seen it.

i went back and looked at the shops and one says that they “consign” on the other.
I have no idea how that works or if it is etsy legal but at least they are disclosing it.

Etsy is like it’s bastard brother, just another whore house.

@PamGari, come on, tell us what you really mean!

A very fishy “relationship” between those two shops, for sure. They each consign to each other? Huh?

A question for Life During Wartime…..did you delete your Pinterest account, or did they kick you off for not being nice?????

From The Tear Drop Shop’s profile (man that is a LOT of shops!)

I both my Pinterest accounts, the one for LDW and the one for the real me.

I did not get spanked off for making fun of Etsy.

  9. Life During Wartime April 4, 2012 at 9:25 am #

I meant to say, I CLOSED both my Pinterest accounts.

The number of Etsy shops selling factory made jewelry is growing so fast that there was no way to keep up with them.

Wow. That Jason Wu blouse states it’s ‘vintage’ from the 1980s, and yet Wu was born in 1982. Quite the child prodigy! 😉

If you dig just a little bit deeper… (slimy move to only fully disclose in one shop – but they get away with it)

    Etsy Accounts:

We also have some of our earrings on consignment at…

if you dig a little deeper you will find this on gillianuna’s page- stating that she also has these accounts:

We also have some of our earrings on consignment at…

——-and then Stumbling on Sainthood discloses this:
    Shopping Account: eidolonis
    Sister of TwisttheLeaf
I also consign some of my jewelry over at TheTeardropShop

*eye roll* why do people do this sh*t? arrggghhh – annoying.

good grief – click on each of those shops and they also disclose other shops – and have links to facebook pages, twitter accounts, etc…

it looks like the shop owner forgot which shops she is supposed to own as there are a few slip ups with the “friend/consignment shop” actually claiming ownership – hell, my head is now spinning. no wonder they can’t keep it straight.

    From Twist the Leaf’s page:

    Yahoo IM: TwisttheLeaf

My twin sister also runs a shop on Etsy at:
Liar Liar–ditto on the head spinning.

So if you check out the that is listed on her FB page, it says she is a US citizen who works in British Columbia. So, she probably has her US shop where she ships from home, and the Canadian shop where she ships from work. Maybe trying to appeal to Canadian buyers who don’t want to wait for stuff to come thru customs/pay duties? Seems like an awfully shady way to do that…

You tell me this is handmade.

10 dollars for all the work into it?? This bag will requires hours of work….

This ipad sleeve is all over

  18. happy April 10, 2012 at 7:28 pm #

This truly is disgusting. You paid less than a dollar from alibaba and sell it for over 20 dollars here. What a profit!!!

  19. happy April 10, 2012 at 7:31 pm #

and this is from this shop:

Does anybody know how to report this shop???

  20. Marky April 12, 2012 at 1:16 am #

    Bizarre tags on this item:

    (Unless I’m being incredibly naive.)

  21. sickofcupcakes April 12, 2012 at 4:12 am #

Well Marky, nothing turns me on more than an old dirty beaver tooth.
